It was past midnight and in the Hollywood hills a man was walking his dog.
Alien space craft appeared as slow moving balls of light in the distance.
In New Jersey they were scanning the abandoned iron mines for the left over metal, seeking to resuscitate it into a plasma that could once again replace a star which had died ten billion years ago.
It was a beautiful night, you could see the Winter Triangle in the sky.
The star which had gone extinct back in 2011 had gotten a little attention from astronomy professors but otherwise hardly even merited a few lines in the newspapers...
No one could even guess at the billions of lives snuffed out in that small part of the galaxy.
Except for him.
The man looked at the sky and a moment later the dog darted after a rabbit, nearly yanking his arm off.
"Hold on,Pup, you'll be the death of me!" he said, laughing.
The dog had been with him for a month now.He had found him waiting just as she said he would be.
They found a path beneath the Hollywood sign Brail had often partied at when she was a teenager.
Captain Space chose a spot beneath the "H" and took out a small urn from a bag.
"I said I would get you back."
When he poured the ashes out a light gust of wind took them into infinity with it.
The dog whined and looked at him questioningly.
"Welcome home,Brail," he told her softly.
The Helios was parked about a mile away disguised as an electric transformer box so as not to garner any attention.
He supposed they could just as well go back and fly off somewhere, but then he thought of the loneliness of space.
That's when they came out.
The ghosts.
"You know what,Pup,"he told the dog."There's no hurry to go.Let's keep walking."
