Retail is hell, but hell might have been preferable.
A baseball bat to the head kills, and Arthur Clark is no exception. A former wage slave, he finds in his death that the dragon goddess and her children want him to keep working - to bring economic prosperity to a ruined city. Now he has gangsters, wannabe superheroes, and starving survivors as his customers, and an inventory to scavenge from the roaming mutated wildlife.
If only this was as easy as it’d been in his books.

Year 500 The Meiji Restoration
This was the day the world fell into darkness. The day all humanity knew was twisted and contorted into something unstable and evil. The Capital city of this dark time Ōkoku was a town like others where the people lived their daily lives but this night was the night all would become none of what it once was. On a nearby boat fishermen were doing their job trying to catch big fish for the city and their own families so they could make their living and be done with it. But one fisherman spotted something across the sea. It was getting closer and closer, a creature at sea and it was speeding across the water as if it were on land! The men shouted at each other to ready the guns and cannons as they began firing at the beast; the bullets and cannonballs bounced off like pellets. The demon charged lightning in its mouth and fired out a blast setting the ship ablaze and leaping over it rushing into Ōkoku, burning and killing civilians. Just as that demon entered Ōkoku other demons began to follow shortly. They all rushed into the city, birdlike creatures flew in and fired waves after waves of searing flame down onto the city, torching people. Demons ran through the streets eating people, swallowing their souls and breaking buildings as their commander made himself known among all the chaos.
"Such beautiful suffering, I can't believe it has finally come. Such ecstasy, such pure pure ecstasy." His wings spread as he motioned for all the demons under his command to attack.
"The demons have shown themselves to the world, now we have no reason to hide ourselves. Kill as many as you can without worry of being spotted." A man's voice echoed through the heads of many. A man stood on a roof with his rifle aimed at the lion looking beast that destroyed and killed those people at the harbor. He lined up his shot and took fire, sending the beast flying and crashing down dead. A comrade of his used her Naginata to cut the legs off of one of the many giant demons before spinning around and slashing its head clean off. Another warrior tossed his chain onto the wing of a flying demon, sinking the blade in using the momentum of the demon's flight he launched into the air, zipped around, and came down slicing its back open, killing it in a single strike. It came down with a screech crashing to the ground as the man landed on it. These were the rays of hope that these citizens needed, allies who were just as powerful if not more powerful than the demons. So much so they could be considered demons themselves but not just any demons. These were The Fiends, Demons who kill Demons! They came in full force following the orders from their capital, known as the Divine Mountain. They all stood together strong and with wills unbendable and emotions incorruptible. They stood as warriors and with the souls of fallen heroes in them known as Ochita tamashī. They used the souls of these fallen heroes to weaken and slay the demons more efficiently by drawing power from these great warriors, they link with these heroes and with each other to show signs of compassion, compliance, and care for one another. The bond between a Fiend and their Ochita tamashī is important; one cannot live without the other. A Ochita Tamashī alone is nothing more than a soul the demons can devour and gain strength from just as a Fiend without a Ochita tamashī is like a sword with no blade or a knight with no armor; they're vulnerable and easy to kill. But together their strength can rival the demons and even more so, surpass them. However just as the demons did the fiends didn't only come with their Ochita Tamashī, they came with their captain. A warrior who graduated to the top of the Divine Mountain in mere weeks, a record unheard of by any Fiends known to record. Known as "The Tyrant Of The Battlefield", they called him a Warlord and his name was Xenthos, One Of The Divine Mount's Greatest Fiends.
This is a story set in the same world as Reaper. If you have not read Reaper, I suggest reading it before this. I apologize in advance for any grammatical or spelling errors. Please enjoy this new story.
The demons have been dormant for 100 years. Now they are back, stronger than ever. And they don't need the cover of darkness anymore.
Dedicated to all the people who helped me at camp this year. You are all truly special. And to George Bailey. Thanks for the card games.
“Drip, Drip, Drip,” Mason said in her ear, his touch burning her skin like acid. “So red. So sweet, but yet so bitter.”
She winced when he ran the tip of the blade over the already open cut. “Stop....”
“Now,” he said quietly, though menacingly, “are you going to come willingly? Or will I have to kill everyone in this room and have you watch?”
She opened her eyes, finding the school empty.
But there’s... no one.
Then a voice entered her ears. “Let her go, you bastard.”

I wrote this story last semester for a college class. This story was heavily inspired by Dante's Inferno. You could easily tell by the main characters name. We follow Dante and Angelo reminisce about their friend, Brook, who had passed away. Usually, they would have visited the cemetery to share some time with Brook but Angelo had other plans. With his knowledge on the afterlife, he convinces Dante to travel through hell in an effort to reunite with Brook before he leaves for college.
Chloe Chasseur did not believe in myths, however, her town was full of them. In the town of "Havenbelle ' it was once said, that demons ruled, the earth and dined on human flesh. Chloe, never hearing or seeing such a creature, lived her life as any ordinary child, unphased by such tales. When, Chloe, meets a strange orphan boy, in the forest of her school one day they become inseparable. But as they grow up together, she realizes that this boy is a flesh-eating demon, and keeping him in her life is more trouble than its worth.
The world has literally turned into hell, taken over by non-other than demons themselves. The angels won't help so, we are left at the hands of this diabolical creatures. Over the last century they had come to an agreement that all demons where to become nobles and high respected individuals, stripping any person with a high wealth status to a commoner like the rest of us.
Since we no longer have a government, Satan the devil himself, rules us as a whole, will his hench demons scatter throughout the world claiming different lands, and ruling those themselves. The demons roam the city and control every aspect of our lives. So much so if you make the simplest mistake your as good as dead. No questions asked.
Not only that, but the demons created a strict caste system that everyone has to follow, even the demons. But as you may have guessed, Humans are on the low of low. Our system works in three choices: Slave, Maid, or Pet. It doesn't matter if your male or female, one will be your fate sooner rather than later.
I was born into this world. A world where Demons roam the land and Angels are cowards. My name is Belle Storm And I am a Pet.
