I nodded and he grinned in response. His smile made me flush with red cheeks. That smile. He always seemed to be in a cheery mood when I saw him. I wonder if it was because he was genuinely happy or maybe he was faking it. The smile he gave me didn't ever feel disingenuous though.

We arrived at the library and I sat at a computer near the exit and Ian sat beside me. I logged in with my email and pulled up assignments from my saved files. I immediately began to work diligently, almost forgetting about the situation from earlier. I didn't like school much but one thing I did enjoy about it was that I could use it as a distraction.
