Danila gasped and gripped her chest.
Her chest began to rise up and down. She felt as though she had been dealt a blow that cut straight through her heart.
"Eryth?"
"Eryth!?" She called again.
"Eryth!!?" She quickly got up and rushed out of the room she was given, bolting for the energy wall protecting the village.
"Where do you go?" Nkati attempted to stop her but she pushed past her.
Without hesitation, she ran past the wall only to be greeted by the sight of several formless, and undead creatures. The creatures simply stood still, not moving or attempting to attack her as she stood in front of them.
But that didn't stop her. She groaned and made her battle stance.
"Out of my way!" Her eyes turned completely pink and she charged forward, controlling the rocks she was standing on to move faster while also using them to crush the beings.
Nkati stepped out of the wall and gasped in horror upon noticing the many creatures fighting Daya. She quickly returned to the wall, racing for the room where she recalled her grandfather to be.
"Everyone, arm yourselves, we are under attack, sound the alarm!"
Tan, the village chief rushed out and held his granddaughter. "Nkati, stop!"
The said name stopped and looked up at the older Kanrei. "But grandfather, the enemy."
"We will be safe if we stay in here, within the walls. We shall not engage the enemy in any way."
She furrowed and unhanded herself from him before running towards the wall.
Meanwhile, Danila hit the last of the beings before crashing to the ground, breathing heavily. She didn't receive any hits but she felt her body drained of all energy. She looked around with blurry vision, taking in the sight of what she had done. She knew on a normal occasion she would have died once she got past the first ten creatures, but with the goddess of the Faes residing in her, she was able to slaughter thousands of the creatures, though at the expense of all her energy.
"I…" she breathed. "I need to… get to… Eryth." She forced herself up and started down the mountain. "E…ryth."
Through her blurry vision, she caught sight of Maya and the general of Hex approaching them. "Look, my Lord, a single measly creature slayed all those creatures, fascinating."
The masked man hummed. "She exudes a massive amount of pure energy. Is she an OR-DER? Or perhaps a Minor god."
"I know her," she mumbled to herself. Maya dropped her hand which she held at the back of her head and smiled. "I'll show you my worth again, my Lord, let me kill her."
"Go ahead." The masked man used his nails to cut himself, letting his blood spill out which he turned into a sword and passed to his underling.
She giggled and took the sword in her hand before licking the blade with her tongue, coating it with her poison.
Danila sighed as she watched the female War Kanrei swiftly approach her with her blade.
"I am too naive," Danila mumbled.
"Even with all the energy, I wasted it, I am sorry."
Her mind travelled back to the little she remembered about the Fae land and the cherished moments she had.
Blutox suddenly appeared between the fairy and the War Kanrei, blocking her blade with the Utagri Al he got from Tan, his Father's friend.
"Is that…" Maya quickly jumped back to create distance between them. "Why do you have that sword?"
Blutox exhaled softly and made his battle stance. "To kill you." He charged forward.
Maya couldn't catch sight of him as he moved fast. She raised her sword, barely managing to parry his attack but the force sent her flying back. She crashed in front of the masked man and her eyes moved to his face.
She couldn't see his eyes but she felt the piercing glare he shot at her. She groaned and turned back to her opponent who made his battle stance.
She could feel the surge of energy that flowed from the Utagri Al, coating Blutox's entire body. Maya has heard stories of the sword and the way it can change its possessor and that made her terrified. She could tell with the Utagri Al in his possession, she stood no chance, but was ready to endure whatever fighting Blutox brings as she believed it would be a much pleasant fate than choosing to go against Lancelot's order.
She breathed out whatever fear she had and charged forward.
"I'm not scared of you… Just because you've got your hands on an old sword doesn't make you immortal!"
She swung her sword at Blutox's neck but he simply took a step back, letting the weapon fly past his neck. She moved forward and swung the blade again, doing her best to force her fellow descendant of the minor god into defence.
Blutox parried one of her attacks before hitting her with a tremendous punch that sent her crashing back. She quickly picked herself up and charged forward again while screaming. Blutox lunged his sword forward but stopped the moment it was only inches away from her neck.
He couldn't do it, he couldn't bring himself to hurt his kinsmen.
He dropped the sword by his side and sent her back with a kick.
Maya coughed out blood before dragging herself up while laughing hysterically. She raised her hand to show a piece of Blutox's shirt.
"You are dead." She threw the cloth into her mouth and immediately swallowed it.
Her poison suddenly began to pour out of her mouth and she crashed down, gurgling in her own medicine, but even still, she held a mischievous grin.
Blutox immediately realised what was happening and he began to race towards her, gripping hard on his sword.
He had lived with Maya and he knew most of her techniques, and what she was about to use was her most dangerous ability. The 'Silent Curse' All she needed was possession of the target, something they had owned for a while and she would be able to bind a curse on it that would curse the target. It doesn't kill, but it drains the energy and weakens the target, and if the target doesn't possess much energy to defend against the technique, it works effectively.
A black marking appeared on her lips and ran from each side of her mouth down to the top of both her breasts. Her scales opened and turned into sharp pointed spikes.
"Silent curse, abyss of madness," she whispered.
Blutox felt a throb in his chest and he instantly crashed to the ground, coughing out blood.
"You were never my match." She picked up her sword and slowly approached him.
"How many times have we clashed blades?
"How many times have I thrown you to the ground?"
"So many times you have lost to me. It all ends now."
She raised her hand and swiftly brought it down to strike him down but he dragged himself and blocked the attack.
Maya gasped in shock. She was sure she did it perfectly and once a person was hit with the silent curse, it had always been impossible for them to move. "Is it the sword?"
She brushed away the thought and moved in for another strike but vines popped out of the ground and shattered the blood-formed sword. The Poison Act user shifted her eyes to Danila who had managed to move from her previous position.
Maya grinned as she realised she had found yet another weakened being to toy with. She charged at Danila, moving her hand forward to touch the fairy's face, but an arrow suddenly brushed past her hand, burning the part of her body it made contact with. She groaned and jumped back to dodge another of the arrows.
She looked in the direction of the arrow to see Nkati aiming her bow.
"Three on one… I love it!"
She swung her hand in the air and droplets of acid flew towards Nkati who shot the arrows. She dodged and fired another arrow before tossing her bow and charging forward with a dagger.
She hacked two slashes but as she moved for the third one, the High Knight of Hex grabbed her hand, stopping her in her tracks. Maya mercilessly dug her hand into her chest. Her grin became even wider and more evil.
"You're mine now."
Nkati fell to the ground lifeless, turning a pale hue of her skin.
Maya turned to the Fae. She paused for a second to take in the view and her eyes widened. "I see… You are trying to harness your energy… too bad!"
She chuckled wickedly before pouring a pool of acid from her mouth. She stood back on her feet and clasped her hands.
"Borrowed act, Mysti… eek!" Before she could finish her words, a cold breeze blew past her, leaving a thin cut in her neck that subsequently gushed out blood. She shifted her gaze to get a glimpse of Arya standing with two daggers in both her hands before collapsing into the acid she had poured out.
The man on the horse jumped off just in time to dodge a lightning strike that came from a rune marking above him, shattering the horse into flesh and bones while also leaving a mark in the ground. He turned his head to see Eryth walking towards him.
Eryth looked the same, only that his hair was now scattered and he now had a hole in his left chest, a hole that could fit two fingers.
"You survived."
Eryth stopped a few steps from the masked man. He drew out his sword and then tore a part of his shirt which he used to tie the sword to his hand tightly. He then let out a deep breath and a massive amount of energy which he had been suppressing released which covered the whole area.
"Your presence angers me."
