As stated in the ancient book of Hehl, it all started with a tiny disagreement between the Ancient gods and now OR-DER gods.
"I have always believed the Ancient and OR-DER were the same pantheon, with the Ancient having just being older."
The Ancient gods are indeed older, having been around even before the beginning of time. The existence of some of them maintains the balance of the entire billion realms, while the OR-DER gods, came after, some by birth, and they maintained order in the realms.
There are a couple of them, but the most important are: Geovara, the Ancient goddess of Earth, Gatric, the Ancient god of the underworld, Kalinor, the Ancient god of the sea, Aethonix, the Ancient god of the sky, and Cronometra, the Ancient goddess of Time and Space. The passing of any of these five could lead to the destruction of the entirety of the Realms.
Some of the OR-DER gods believed it would be best if the cosmos had more chaos while some of the Ancient gods as well and a few of the OR-DER advocated for total peace and order with no chaos. These OR-DER gods labelled the Ancient outdated and resistant to progress and change and so many of the OR-DER gods that sought chaos began taking realms and dimensions under their domain to have their way, increasing their territory and power.
The Ancient gods warned the OR-DER will only disrupt the balance of the universe by making chaos, and that was how it began, from a single disagreement that grew into a war that raged on for years, Deus Ignis, or as you call it, the High War.
The five Ancient gods I mentioned, stayed out of this conflict at first, refusing to allow themselves to be involved in Chaos as they realised it was all plans to create chaos by means of war. It continued that way, until Gatric joined the fight, tilting the scale of the battle in the favour of the gods that wanted a sprinkle of more chaos to the realms. This made Aethonix and Kalinor to also join the war, in support of order. The fight destroyed many million realms and was moving into Anaheym or Earth, the mortal realm, also a realm very much loved by Geovara.
To stop this from happening, Geovara with the help of Cronometra and Xer'idon an Ancient god known as the Architect, devised a way to stop the gods and the war.
Xer'idon betrayed Geovara and Cronometra to stand alongside the birth of chaos, and instead of doing as he was asked to, he made chaos in the form of Kagurath, the very first full Pure Chaos entity. Cronometra and Geovara thought Kagurath would stop the war, but Xer'idon planned else what.
"All in the name of adding a bit of chaos to the realms, the gods stabbed each other in the back and fought against themselves?"
"Betrayal doesn't only root in mortals."
Kagurath was so powerful to the extent that he could simply will a chaos being to be, out of thin air, and also corrupt domains and territory with chaos. He had a mind and purpose of his own, and it was the same as that of Xer'idon and Gatric, to bring chaos to every realm.
The god of Chaos created twelve chaos beings which he took as his army to complete his quest, they were referred to as the Twelve Chaos:
● Zha'kral, the devouring darkness
● Kyrethok, the chaos Lord
● Xandriax, dark destruction
● Tharrosk, the cruel darkness
● Vorgath, the malevolent abyss
● Xyl'kor, the eternal void
● Theotriks, the eater of emotions
● Rapulnu, bringer of death and doom
● Nexarion, bringer of darkness
● Kael'gorin, the dark entity
● Xeridianx, destruction incarnate
● Valtorvx, the veil of chaos
"You are also one of the Twelve Chaos?"
"Watch, Eryth."
There was no way to confirm, so the writer of the book, Rydal Alf Festo, the father of demons, mentioned that these beings were either created along with Kagurath by the Architect or they are all variants of the Eternal Chaos being, formed by himself.
"But what is the true story?"
"Not important."
Kagurath along with his twelve chaos set out for their purpose, raining hell and chaos wherever they set foot.
After seeing the destruction Kagurath and his Twelve Chaos brought, all the gods turned against the decision to have chaos in the realm and stood together to fight against Kagurath and his army, leading to the Abyssal War, a war that caused the death of many OR-DER and Ancient gods and brought about the first destruction of Divinara, the high realm. One battle that the gods would never forget, was the Noxium Clash, the final stand between the gods and Kagurath, a battle that almost tore the veil of space and time (Cronometra came close to death). But the gods, led by Ruhe, a powerful Ancient OR-DER god who had been in deep sleep, an action the gods go through to regain their strength managed to put an end to the many centuries of war, he couldn't completely kill Kagurath, so he was put in an eternal slumber and trapped in one of the realms he corrupted, the Hecahiyk.
Among the twelve chaos, most were slain, some were trapped alongside Kagurath and the rest retreated to the Hecahiyk.
As punishment, Ruhe banished every god that brought up the idea of having chaos in the Realms to the Hechaiyk and tried but failed to fully cleanse the chaos from the Realms. This action weakened and caused him to fall into deep sleep.
Rapulnu noticed the weakened state at Divinara and sought to exploit it. She rallied the gods of Hecahiyk and incited revenge in their minds, marking the start of yet another war between the gods, War of the Fallen Light as termed in Hehl.
The OR-DER gods never expected this and it led to many of them falling victim to the brilliant idea of Rapulnu, the bringer of death and doom.
Among all the battles fought, only two were emphasised in the book; Eclipse of Divinara and the Chthonic Reckoning.
The gods of Hecahiyk almost corrupted the entire High Realm, forcing the gods to flee their abode.
While they fought, Rapulnu and the other Twelve Chaos had something else in mind, they believed that the only way everything could come to an end, the only Chaos would win, is eliminating the ones that keep the balance of the realms. And so they ascended to the Higher Realm where they intended to kill the Ancient gods that kept the balance of the Realms, but that was the making of the end of the Abyssal War.
They ended up fighting a combined force of the Ancient gods including the strongest, Ruhe, the god of Light and Peace. His return once again changed the course of the battle, and the Chaos gods once again fell back where the last battle between the gods was fought, at the Rift, an area outside the Hecahiyk.
Ruhe along with other Ancient gods, pushed the chaos gods back into the Hecahiyk and sealed it, trapping the gods in it forever. And it would have remained that way, until King Hrucrypt of Nortvalhm from Anaheym sought power and summoned Rapulnu, creating a hole in the seal.
Eryth's knees buckled but he balanced himself by placing his hands on his knees. His eyes widened and sweat streamed down the side with his head.
"Your plan... You want to destroy the realms, how could you? Why would you show me this?"
Rapulnu sighed and folded her arms. "Unlike the other gods you serve, I want you to know what you are getting into."
"Bullshit!" Eryth barked. "It doesn't matter what my choices are, like the others you only want to use me, and I know now you will stop at nothing to achieve your goal."
She scoffed and ignored his comment.
"You can confirm what I just showed you from the book of Hehl written by Rydal Alf Festo… my favourite Demon." She turned and started away.
"You will not win this war!" Eryth stood up straight and clenched his fist. "I will make sure of it!"
He had never thought of the gods as supreme entities to worship, and he didn't cared what happened to them. He only went along and played Rapulnu's games because he had thought it would all simply end with a fight between OR-DER and Chaos. But the entire realms?
Rapulnu stopped and turned to face Eryth, a mischievous grin on her face. "Ruhe himself guaranteed his demise and the destruction of the realms with the return of Kagurath.
"What?"
"Whenever the gods want to regain their strength, they take a deep slumber… how powerful do you think one who has been asleep for aeons would be?"
