Chapter Two.
The hospital room was corrupt in it's own right.
Chipping white paint covered the suspiciously stained walls, and strange brown smears spotted the ground in dubious ways. The hospital bed was made with what looked like new bed sheets, but if the rusting metal was any indication it had been a while since the hospital owners had updated the equipment, not to mention the centuries old technology that sat in the back of the room.
The clinic itself was hectic and lively, filled with bustling activity and frantic energy. Nurses and Doctors about, scurried from to and fro, each with distraught expressions on their face, pushing either patient gurneys or carrying supplies and clipboards, always preoccupied. It took awhile before someone decided to close my door, but I barely noticed as my mind was to caught up on other things, such as who occupied the room with me.
My own appointed doctor had left awhile ago, determining I was fine and left in his place a nurse that left me in astonishment.
With long white blonde hair pulled back into low ponytail, gray eyes that moved when you did, blood red lips that held a disturbing smile and wrinkles that covered her whole face, the woman before me looked almost exactly like the old woman I had seen only five hours ago.
Five hours ago before I was being dispatched to the nearest hospital, and went through many serious physical exams. The lightning strike hadn't caused any real damage, just a bit of muscle soreness and a mild concussion. Doc gave me some pills for my stomach and I threw up a few times before my stomach actually settled down, and I wasn't allowed to stand for awhile because of minor balance problems.
He said they'd notified a guardian that I would be released within the next twenty-four hours.
So here I am, five hours later, still hyped up on antibiotics with nothing to entertain me but a dull headache and the petite brunette woman that did nothing but sit in the corner and watch me closer than was necessary, the shocking similarities between her and the school lady stunning me.
Though, the woman to me seemed eerily different, the air around her not anymore strong and determined, but holding an almost evil aura to it, something so dark and wicked it kept me from even asking her if she remembered me.
I shifted in my bed uncomfortable with her staring, and snatched my hair out of it's ponytail using it as a shield against the woman's familiar gray eyes.
Picking up the remote control, I quickly switched on the t.v. and sighed in relief that there was something to distract us both from the tense silence, it was only when the gray eyed old woman spoke did I look at her directly and let out a small squeak of surprise.
"Am I making you uncomfortable, dear?"
Chills of apprehension slowly slipped down my spine as I recognized scratchy sound of her quiet voice, and I swallowed a little bit from the unnerving way her intelligent gray eyes narrowed on me like predator.
I felt like her prey.
"N-no ma'am, it's just a little chilly in here is all." I stuttered.
The air conditioner wasn't even on.
Blood red lips formed a small smile on her wrinkled face. "Oh." Gracefully, she stood and walked towards the wooden door.
"Well why don't I just take care of that for you, yeah?"
She barely had her hand on the knob before I stopped her. "That won't be necessary, I'm fine. Really."
I'd rather have her in here staring at me, than have her leave me alone in this horrific hospital.
She turned the door knob and walked out, twisting just barely so I could hear her response.
"No, no it's fine, I mean, you are my patient aren't you." She winked at me, then turned the corner, her cackling laughter echoing off the hospital walls, the door closing behind her.
I sighed and fell back onto the bed, dismissing the sound of it's creaking and stared at the almost colorless t.v. screen, it's sound droning out the light tapping of the office lady's laptop and the other hospital rooms.
It was one o'clock in the morning, I had way too many drugs running through my body to be tired and I knew Marci was probably lying around somewhere, passed out drunk.
So, this was panning out to be a long night.
No sooner did I have that thought did the lights and t.v. screen flicker off.
