Anthem looked out his window, watching the incoming sunset. The late summer sky shone with glistening honeys, pinks, and the most mind boggling blues. The vibrant hues reflected themselves on the bottom of the buoyant clouds, making them look like painted canvases.
Everything was so laid back, and Anthem felt like he had been sitting here, in this old wooden chair, staring out at the sky for hours; when in reality, he has been sitting there for only a few moments.
The sun was low in the sky, and the buildings and trees in the far distance blocked half of it. Its miraculous rays flowed in through the window, Anthem’s jade eyes twinkling in the golden light.
It’s so nice out, Anthem sighed, a smile creeping up on his lips. Even though the sudden explosion of tranquility went off yesterday, Anthem has grown accustomed to the long lost, familiar feeling of peace. But, when he looked at the sunset, the first word that came to his mind was serenity. A lot of others had their time off, and what were they doing? It made him think, how many people were looking at it right now, just like him. Maybe, his friends were looking at it, too.

Jesse stood at the edge of the sandy shore, grinning even brighter than the setting sun as the crystal blue waters lapped around his bare feet. The wind slipped through his golden locks, and the sunlight seemed to shine on his freckled cheeks. His eyes looked like the ocean itself, shimmering in the sun.
Now that he thought about it, he felt bad now, that Anthem wasn’t here with him. It sucked, knowing that he could’ve watched the sunset, with Anthem right beside him. Maybe another time.
He wondered, what Anthem would look like, bathed in that beautiful light. Would his eyes dazzle like emeralds? Would his pale skin glow bronze? Would the colors of the sky reflect in his eyes? Maybe, would he grab ahold of his hand as he gazed at the evening sky? In your wildest dreams, loverboy. Jesse laughed at himself.
He shook his head, feeling his heart swell at the thought. Oh well, they were going to go stargazing soon. Plus, they’d be looking at the stars, and seeing them reflect in Anthem’s enchanting eyes would be even better than just seeing the sunset hues change their color.
“Hey, Walker, we’re loadin’ up the auto!” One of his “teammates” called out from behind him, his voice reeking with joy. “Stop starin’ at the sunset like a romantic and help us.”
“I’m on it!”

Trista’s sleeping figure lay sprawled out on her couch. Her spacious house was ever so silent and unbelievably calm. The only noise present was the deep, even, breathing of the resting officer.
Her subconscious was dancing with fears of all forms, and they hung in the back of her busy mind like an incoming storm. She could practically hear the thunder, but right now, everything felt numb, because she lost all of her fears when she slipped into the wonderful world of her dreams.
Not knowing it, a soft smile curved over her thin lips, and she turned over on her back, the sun streaming through the windows feeling warm on her cool skin.
For now, she finally felt the newfound peace that filled base. But this peace was like water, she could only hold it for so long, until it slipped through of her fingers.

Anthem put his elbow on the windowsill and rested his head in his hand. He let out a long sigh and closed his eyes. The violet of the sky shone on his pale skin, and the ends of his dark lashes brushed over the tips of his apple-red cheeks. His baby pink lips were formed into a content smile that would soon fade, along with the tranquil state of his home.
No matter how many times he said it, this peace was nice. He felt like the whole base was enlightened, but he knew, whatever golden age this was, it wouldn’t last for long. But, he pushed that thought to the side and decided to think about the present. The future could wait, no matter how tempting the idea of it was. Plus, what were the stakes of that happening? Pretty damn slim, he chuckled to himself. I mean, come on! What are the chances of another war happening?
The day was having its final moment, and the night was taking over. A thin, hazy ring of gold at the bottom of the horizon was the only hint of the withering daylight. The beautiful violet sky was quickly being replaced by a blue the color of the deep ocean; mysterious, beautiful, and the slightest bit eerie.
“It’s getting late.” Anthem said, watching the sky grow darker and darker, like the way the colors change as the sea gets deeper. “I should go take a shower.”

The auto glided over the road, the soft boom boom of bass could be heard from outside the vehicle.
The auto was filled with noise; excited conversations, humming, laughter, and loud music. Jesse was completely silent though, unlike the other four passengers, and stared out the window. He watched the scenery change from a glistening sea, brittle sand, to a bustling city.
His lips were straightened in concentration, and he let out a long sigh that caught the attention of the driver.
“What’re you thinking about?” She asked, glancing at him with warm brown eyes. There was a gentle smile on her face, but there was some seriousness in the way her fine eyebrows furrowed. She tapped her dark fingernails against the steering wheel, matching the rhythm of the song.
“Nothing. Just starin’ into nothing, that’s all.” Jesse lied, flashing her a quick grin, before she went back to focusing entirely on the road. The group of three in the back of the auto began to obnoxiously sing along to the chorus of the song, and it sounded almost competitive, each person tried to hold their voice the longest, and they attempted to outdo each other at singing the high notes. That, or all of them were extremely talented.
Jesse continued to gaze into the background, his eyes darting around the many other autos lining the road. A glistening white moto whirred beside them, and it looked very similar to the one Anthem had.
The moto was a beautiful model, whiter than a fresh layer of snow, and it had timeless technology. There were these thick, comfortable cushions, that made Sasha’s luxury auto’s cushions look lumpy. Oh, and when they were cruising through the streets, driving to places, or just riding around, he would have to press himself against Anthem’s back, and sometimes, he would have to wrap his arms around his waist. He absolutely loved that. Jesse would usually put his chin on his shoulder and whisper things in his ear for the hell of it.
Just as quickly as it came, the vehicle sped off to some unknown destination, and soon became a white speck in the distance. But the thought of Anthem’s own moto lingered in his mind. Maybe, when we go out we’ll ride the moto. He hated to sound obsessive about riding his friend’s vehicle, but he adored every chance he could get to get closer to Anthem physically and emotionally; especially physically. Savior, every time he wrapped his arms around his slim hips it felt electric.
The air in the auto suddenly grew warmer, maybe it was because of the body heat going around in the cramped space, and Jesse fidgeted uncomfortably in the beige chair. Just thinking about him was more than enough. He’s become so infatuated with Anthem, that the mere thought of him made him blush. Jesse was such a romantic, it almost made him sick.
Anthem did crazy things to Jesse, and he didn’t even know it. He had taken control of his mind, to the point where Jesse thinks about him even more than he does about his life, and even his job. Anthem just had to smile, and his face would be engraved in Jesse’s head for the rest of the day. It was funny, how a grown man like Jesse let someone, who probably didn’t return his feelings, rule his life.
“You’re obviously thinking about something.” The woman in the driver’s seat, Rain, laughed, looking over at him for a few seconds. “You’ve been thinking all day. When we were out on the shore, you were always looking at something far off. Thank god we weren’t flying today, you would’ve lost focus and landed your ‘craft straight into the sea.”
Jesse nodded, just tuning her out, like the music. She smiled and tossed red locks of hair over her shoulder before gripping the silver steering wheel again.
“You’re even too busy daydreaming to listen to me.”

Yawning, Anthem climbed into his bed. He pulled the soft, thin, pristinely white sheet over him, and nuzzled his face into the pillow, draping his arm across it.
By now, the only light coming out of the window was silver moonlight, and it only gave the small home the slightest hint of light.
He knew it was early, but Anthem had a busy day tomorrow. It would be nice, and he would take advantage of it, plus, he had a feeling there wouldn’t be many days like this in the near future. Once again, he pushed that dark thought to the back of his mind.
Quickly, Anthem fell asleep, excited for a peaceful tomorrow.
Soon enough, however, he would run out of safe tomorrows to wake up to; it was only a matter of time until it all faded into the blackness of war.443Please respect copyright.PENANAagViE5qF1J
