I kept shivering that night. I wasn’t sure why. It wasn’t that cold. In addition, my head has been hurting for a while. I think I need some air. Quietly, I stood up and exited the shed. Anita and Vera were still asleep, and Ace was nowhere to be found. Not like I cared. I wrapped my arms around myself and left the shed, making my way to the pond when a familiar voice stopped me in my tracks. “Hey. What are you doing?”
I turned around. It was Ace. He was sitting on the roof, one arm propped against his knee.
“I was wondering the same about you.” I admitted.
“I’m just sitting here,” He replied. “I don’t want any sudden attacks. Even though it’s in a forest.”
I rolled my shoulders. “Productive, I guess.”
“So what are you doing here?” He asked again.
Strange that he’s not yelling for once. And that he actually wants to know. “I’m going out for a walk. Strange of you to ask me a question with such curiosity.”
He rolled his eyes. “It’s not like I care. It’s just unexpected that I found you out here. But if you’re out for a walk, then whatever. If you get lost, it’s not my problem.”
Typical, I thought in a sharp tone. I continued to walk by the pond. I suddenly froze. My head suddenly increased in pain. It was as though it was going in rhythmic beats. I groaned, grasping onto it. What’s happening to me? I was sure the food was alright to eat. I did plenty of research on herbs in the past. I squatted down. My throat suddenly felt as though it was closing up and coughed several times while breathing heavily. I was suddenly getting lightheaded. I didn’t understand where this came from. Everything was spinning. I took a deep breath before coughing again. I’m sure it’s fine. I’ll be okay.
“What’s wrong with you?” I heard Ace’s voice. It was quite a blur since he was quite far. But I could still make out some of the words. “Don’t play with me!”
But it wasn’t a joke. I truly felt awful. My eyes were getting heavy while my head throbbed in pain and shivers coursing through my body. I coughed a few more times. I suddenly heard the sound of soft footsteps, before losing my consciousness.
