(Ace Katsuro)
“It’s Mira with a strange man!” I heard from behind. At least they don’t know who I am.
“I hear more footsteps.” Mira said.
“They must’ve gotten back up.” I replied, fastening my pace.
Mira did the same. “I can’t fight back, they got faster.”
“So did we.” I argued, before we took several turns.
“Where are we going?” She asked me.
“I don’t know. Just anywhere away from them,” Then I muttered under my breath. “This plan is blown too. Thanks to that person with the huge parasoul.”
Mira let out a pained groan and fell. I spun. One of the guards had a sword dripping with blood. I ran back to her as she raised her arm up to shoot icicles up their faces. I took her hand and sped off with her. She winced, and I told her, “We’re losing them.”
I turned back once more. There were now two that were still following us. I gave Mira a knowing look and we ran faster until there was a cliff and we stopped. I looked down. There were rocks and a river. I turned to her. “Which way?”
“We’re screwed either way,” She breathed. “We have to jump.”
“Jump!?”
“There’s no way they’d take that risk. The weapons they have can’t handle water.”
“Tasers, huh?”
“Let’s go together.” She said. Before I could do anything, her foot slipped and she fell back. Off the cliff. Her eyes widened in shock.
“Mira!” I jumped off the cliff. The momentum was growing too fast for me to get my wings out. Before I knew it, I plunged into the water. There was a stinging in my shoulder. I grimaced and noticed a bit of blood diffusing into the water. But that didn’t matter. I needed to find Mira.
I looked around. “Mira!” No response. I swam around. “Mira!” No response. I ducked my head under the under and noticed a body floating downwards and away from me. I swam toward it, the features becoming clearer and clearer. It was Mira. Her eyes were closed and a portion of her head had blood on it.
I quickly swam up to the shore. I noticed a rocky cave nearby and carried her there. I laid her down. Lock of her hair was covering her face. I carefully brushed them away to examine her wound. She must’ve hit her head on the rocks and went unconscious. I thought back to when she stumbled. She fell back. Her head must’ve hit first.
Luckily she still had the bag, so I took it from her. I pulled out the roll of bandages and wrapped it around her head to cover the wound. I then wrapped it around the wound on her leg from that guard. There was a large slice and bruises from the attack.
I stood up, took my original clothes, and changed back into them from my suit outside the cave. The clothes were damp from the water, but it was more comfortable than the suit. I tied my hair back into a ponytail. I also noticed that the hat must've gotten lost in the water. I put the drenched wet clothes back in the bag in case we needed them again before sitting next to Mira. She must be cold. I have to do something to make sure she’s okay. Letting out a breath. I lifted her from under her arms, and pulled her close to me.
I wrapped my arms around her, as her head rested against my chest. The only source of heat we have is body heat. Fire would catch attention, and Mira is unconscious anyway, And my electricity is dangerous. I didn’t mind it though. We’ve been through so many incidents now, it wasn’t really strange to see ourselves in this kind of situation. I kept Mira close as I watched a peak of light from the sun slowly go away before the cave darkened.
