Once Upon a Full Moon

The fullness of the moon shines clear and bright;

Her beams accentuate the hidden path.

My mistress she, wills where I go tonight

By flight, by sight, propelled by winds of wrath.

The days go by her strength becoming faint,

But still she passes overhead to guide.

Her light, once bright absorbed by shadows’ taint

Until one day her light winked out and died.

Once gone the stars above do glow e’er more

As friends give choices, open paths be made;

But ne’er forget that she taught me to soar

A gift, once giv’n, a debt not yet repaid.

Familiar paths she etched with wind and shade

Through which I fly, now free, forever changed
