First of all no, I did not start pondering whilst on the toilet. No it was a movie that got me really thinking. It wasn’t a very inspirational movie to begin with, but there was this on specific scene that started my turning my gears. Basically it was these two people who were at a party. And these two people specifically were in the bathroom, snorting cocaine (no dirty bathroom sex I’m afraid) so any way these people were hitting the powder pretty good and the lady started ranting about god and stuff, and that it depends on what we believe. Dismissing the fact that the actress was given those lines to say just to show how blown her character is, what she said got me thinking.244Please respect copyright.PENANA0q342vBnmB
As humans we are very good at thinking. Like coming up with new, creative and painful ways to kill and maim one another. We are also bloody curious. However over the years of being the big dogs in the food chain (some twenty two thousand) our curiosity was somewhat downtrodden. As a single person we are not very dangerous (though I’m sure you stick it to the man) our influences don’t do that much damage. Collectively however, human beings are fucking war-apocalypse bringing-machines. In the days of old, when the world was still new (see what I did there?) humans just finished evolving and then decided, shit I need me a god to worship. So I’m pretty sure that many religions evolved and died and go remade and then died…you get my drift. Any way these groups always had people with the same views (duh) and lost their minds if some other person tells them gassing a million people because they are inferior ~cough~ Hitler ~cough~ is wrong. 244Please respect copyright.PENANAKVD0E9lnDn
And so religion evolved. They were happy living a life knowing that the water they drank was the sweat of a crocodile-man god thingie (the Egyptians) and making extravagant sacrifices and offerings to their protective spirits every time the sky rumbled (just about every one of those nuts in the past). However (duh duh) their blissful ignorant living will soon come to an end, well not really an end more like less ridiculous. Science was kicking its cloven hooves244Please respect copyright.PENANA3LCkhDgGA6
So any way there was these few people who started realising that some of what they are doing to appease their gods is utter bull shit (I am not denouncing the name of god now, just making things less ridiculous) like we soon realised that the sky rumbles because there is sudden collapse of an air pocket which causes thunder (basically the sky is slapping itself) and that water is made from one hydrogen atom bonded with two oxygens. Back in the day it was hard to try and say your views while the local church committee informs their god fearing community that you have gone mad (power in numbers).244Please respect copyright.PENANAmo3yMn4yMj
More or less both science and religion survived. However people with one view start wanting other people to adopt their views and that person doesn’t want to, instead of saying no thanks, they start killing each other( at this point I can safely say that one of the reasons we were put on earth is to kill each other). Regardless of that, each view tends to gravitate to one thing, why are we here?244Please respect copyright.PENANAwqRU9jSP2x
First let me start with a scientific view since I am a man of science. Whilst religion tends to paint an extravagant picture to our explosive and bloody beginnings, science is like the microscope that zooms in to look at the world with less whim and more cold logic. Planets are formed when a whole collection of smaller rocks start clumping together, oceans are formed through ice melting and more recently, scientists believe that most of earth’s water came from meteorites from deep space and other rocks with water. Geological activity more or less shaped things and that’s how things got to be looking like how we all know. However, science doesn’t have all the answers. How we got here? Ask the cleverest of us and they will have brain farts (also called an aneurism) trying to answer that question. As much as us normal people are awed by the mighty brain power of those creepy scientists who slam atoms together and mutter “Bang, Bang!” Every time, they really don’t know what they are doing.244Please respect copyright.PENANAOYIBV22dFK
You see as good as science being all logic and not bull shitting as it is, it does not have all the answers. Like for example, in Earth’s 46 billion year history there is 30 million years that are completely missing. What could’ve have happened in that time we will never know. As for the origins to life, science has not been able to completely replicate it (or maybe they have and they are not telling us) and basically things get all x-files and shit. One thing that always stands out for science when it comes to explaining the origins of life is that everything just had to happen at that one specific moment when the universe decided that it is time to make life. First hint that everything just happened right was the where we are situated in the galaxy. In any case there are some of you who have no idea what is a galaxy, immediately go and slap your science teacher. A galaxy is a giant cluster of stars, and when I say giant, I mean it’s freaking huge. The Milky Way galaxy (our galaxy) is some 42 light years across. At the centre of our galaxy is what we called a super black hole. This black hole generates so much gravity that it can make stars that 100 times larger than us, orbit the black hole like moths by a flame. Did I mention that the black hole is slowly eating our galaxy? Yes. It sucks in matter at a colossal rate.244Please respect copyright.PENANA8d96qaBS5X
Some younger galaxies, there are phenomena called quasars. Basically the young black hole is eating so much that it literally vomits out some matter in a pretty light. Right. Got it? So our solar system is not placed near the black hole, this is because the gamma radiation is so strong that life would be impossible (sorry no green monster for you). Then it is not placed so far away because it is so cold and any water would be frozen solid. No, we are placed at the centre, like goldilocks, hell even scientist call it in the goldilocks zone, so we are there on one of the arms of the galaxy. Then once again we inhabit an orbital space that is just right. At the beginning of our solar system’s formation it wasn’t all roses and daises. It was like Game of Thrones coupled with the Species movies. Hundreds of planets smashed into each other, and during this great bombardment that earth got its resources for life. However what life is, nobody really knows. One theory says that life formed painfully from the mixing of certain proteins and life just emerged from that (primordial soup). There are others like, some highly evolved aliens put us as experiments on earth and either it died or forgot about us completely244Please respect copyright.PENANAoRIrHtc0qr
Another one is that life is an ancient virus that somehow found itself on earth, brought in by some meteorite. This in my opinion has some credibility because there is no forensic evidence of viruses and that viruses are really just aliens which would make us also aliens. So this virus found itself flourishing and evolving and our DNA could probably be a biography to that virus, who knows? 244Please respect copyright.PENANANF44bQiAk3
Now we come to religion. The reason why people are afraid to talk about this is that there are so many versions out there, that even one word used in a religious context could make some group of people lose their minds and sacrifice infants. Yes at one time during our evolution, humanity had an idea that sacrificing an innocent infant would appease their baby eating Gods. Of course you could say damn, well it is modern times and we have realized certain practises are just plain nuts. Unfortunately you are thinking wrong (if you can think that is). Let us take Christianity as an example. Every westerner believes that this is the perfect thing to worship and kill other people who innocently want to worship in peace. First of all, bread and wine. Body and blood of Christ. They eat and drink. Is this not cannibalism? I don’t know, ask someone and tell me. Say in the next thousand years and people look at our culture, they will be thinking exactly what you think about cultures of old. How is that for a slap in the face from reality244Please respect copyright.PENANA9KSh1GHOjx
Religion is usually whimsical and magical and always considers humanity to be special and every other species their loving devotees. And let me tell you, people were creative when they made up their culture. Gaia gave birth to her son and screwed him, so every one of us is brother and sister. Let’s not forget Egypt as I mentioned before, their gods were crazy. There was Hapi, who both had a wiener, vagina and “mountainous breasts” and the Nile was supposed to emanate from his/her vagina. Then there was a god whose sweat was the source of all the oceans in the world. And there was lots of sex…and incest. The Olympians? Brother and sister, uncle and aunt, it didn’t matter. Kronos, the lord of time and father to the six major Olympian gods had kids with his youngest sister, Rhea. Their kids weren’t at all that better244Please respect copyright.PENANAq0s0Hi1aiU
However sex, murder and vaginal Nile, religion was the bright light for primitive humans and is probably why we haven’t died off yet. The one thing that’s special to religion is the diversity but the general context is all the same. We all want to know why we are here, but the truth is, we will never know, why? You may ask. It’s because we are not the special living things here on this earth…I would go far as to say that, to god, we are an amusing experiment for them/him/her/matrix/super-evolved aliens. We are programmed to questioning things and finding them and then questioning again, however my faithful reader the reason to why we are here – or one possible reason, is that we are programmed to question, that is our purpose, full of potential, ideas but in the end, we are a paradox in this existence we try to make order of and thus signify…nothing. 244Please respect copyright.PENANArAdYJ3yLHq
