This story is ADT flipped. What would have happened if Evelyn never made it to Rhodolite? What if she were captured while she was crossing Obsidian, and Ivetta was born and raised there? Or what if she did make it to Rhodolite, but something happened that made her reveal her true identity, and then Ivetta basically got traded in a political deal to Obsidian?
What if Gilbert is the male love interest?
I wondered. And I thought about it a lot. And I’ve decided how it starts, how Ivetta gets to Obsidian, and how she gets back to Rhodolite. Love triangle with Chev? Yes. Rectangle, actually, because Nokto.
I’m really excited to write this, but I think my head would implode if I tried to write more than one story in this family of stories at the same time (aside from the ADT/ABT pairing), so it will have to wait. But that just gives me more time to figure it out.

I write in Google Docs, which doesn’t have built-in dark mode (get with the program, Google!). The dark mode browser extension I use, Night Eye, automatically inverts everything in Google Docs, including images. Which is how this happened. All I did was edit the text.
But I think it works. At least for a temporary placeholder
