It’s 1985 and Amy Neal is navigating life as a teenager in Christchurch, New Zealand. She’s shy, reserved and bullied at school, but she dreams of transforming herself into someone fashionable and popular. At first she has little success, but then she bumps into Skye Morris, an old family friend whom she hasn’t seen in years.

Skye draws Amy into a dizzyingly exciting world of goths, punks and wild parties. Amy embraces this new life initially, but then senses things spiralling out of control. Skye seems to be taking her on an increasingly dangerous journey. Now Amy must decide how far she is really prepared to follow her friend, how far she is really prepared to go…
