My smile faded when I realized she was serious. “Dammit Neeka!” I yell.
”What? What’s wrong?” She asks panicking.
”Why’d you tell me this!” I demand.
”Because you’re the only one I trust. The only one I can trust.” She whispers.
”The people who are onto you is my team! I have to take you in.” I say tears rolling down my face.
”W-what? What are you talking about?” Neeka asks crying too.
”Dammit! This is why I don’t let people get close! Why’d I think this would be different?” I say yelling again.
I watch as Neeka the girl I love crumples to the ground realizing I’m saying the truth. “Can’t you let me just disappear? Pretend I didn’t tell you anything?”
”No, I can’t dear. I love you more than you know but I can’t do that.” I whisper. “Please stand up and put your hands behind your back.”
I watch her slowly stand up fighting back a sob. “My team is already infiltrating your teammates house and is taking them in as we speak.” I say calmly, I’ve detached from my feelings so that this won’t hurt as much. I walk her to my car and put her in the backseat as she finally lets the sobs out. We drive to my headquarters and walk inside with her still crying.
”Agent Mills, what do you have with you?” My commanding agent asks.
”The last Porthorn spy.” I reply sounding detached.
”Isn’t that your girlfriend Angela?” He asks confused.
”That is the name Neeka was using for the last two years sir.” I respond.
”Take her to the waiting room with the rest of the team and give me the audio recording from your apartment.”
“Yes sir.” I say handing over the small recording device.
As we walk away Neeka whispers to me. “I love you.”
”I love you too. I’m so sorry.” I say right before the door closes and she’s locked in with her team.
