He sees me walk into the living room, and pauses to blow me a kiss. copyright protection337PENANAk5IMjGGFmv "Ooooovew!" he says, puckering his lips. He reminds me of a duck when he does that.
"Huh?" I ask him, touching his cheek as he tries to smile. copyright protection337PENANASQtTaRDtS0
He scowls, hitting his forehead. As he turns away, he hits it again. He walks away, and around the dining room table, only to come back. copyright protection337PENANA9m5zPOy1hL
"I waaaav you." He smiles, turns away and claps, proud of himself for saying the three words he's always wanted to tell me. copyright protection337PENANAOG3qktHJtx
"Baby. Baby. Ba. Ba. Baby." He wanders around the coffee table as he slaps his belly. copyright protection337PENANAz7kwe2xNhy

He dashes towards me and extends his arm as I gently pull him closer and closer. He hums along with me as I sing his favorite song ever. He's laughing now, and his dark brown eyes sparkle like lights. He's so pure, so innocent in his joy that I am moved by it. It takes everything I have in me not to cry. He won't understand why I cry when I do. He'd just hit himself, and I don't want that to happen. copyright protection337PENANAnAmbMY8SHH

"Mmm!" He smiles and his little feet patter towards me as he falls into my arms. copyright protection337PENANAn65OgfIMSB
I based this little bit on my son who has autism. I saw this contest and thought it would be a good idea to share the first time he said "I love you" to me. He doesn't talk very much, but he is a sweet boy and always lets us know how much he loves us, even if he doesn't always say it. His heart is bigger than his little body. He is 2.5 years old and was diagnosed last year. Since then he'd made tons of inprovements through therapy. I hope you enjoyed this! :)copyright protection337PENANAuPjkB936kc
