Inside the palace walls was a spirit that had existed since the start of the royal family. This spirit was small, this spirit was cute, and this spirit was especially fluffy. This is the story of the Little Book Spirit.
The Little Book Spirit took the form of a tiny mouse, and legend says that only a child would be able to see it. It lived inside the castle's library, where nobody was allowed to enter.
A wise king sat on his throne with his son on his lap, "Do you like to read, my little prince?" he asked with a smile.
The prince nodded, "Oh yes father, I love to read."
The king picked his son up and carried her out of the throne room, "Then perhaps you would like what I am about to show you."
The little boy tilted his head to the side with curiosity, "What is it, father?" he asked as they walked down the royal hall.
His father laughed and stopped in front of a large wooden door, with carvings of mice etched on its surface, "A surprise must not be ruined, my son." and with that he placed his son on the ground and opened the entrance.
Inside was a large beautiful library with books filling every single shelf. The prince ran inside and looked around in wonder, "This library is amazing, father!" the boy stared at a dusty table and grimaced, "Its as if the maids has never stepped foot in this room for years..."
"Only the royal family has ever cleaned up this room." the king said with a smile.
Surprised, the prince asked, "Why are we, the royals, supposed to clean our library when there are others to do it for us?"
The king knelt in front of his son and placed his hand on his shoulder, "When you grow up, you will become king. To become a wise king you must learn how to do things by yourself, because if not, you will be one of those rulers who brings their country down into ruin."
An expression of confusion came upon the young prince's face, "I don't understand father, but I will try my best to become the wisest king in our land."
"I"m glad to hear that, my son." the king stood up and began to head for the exit, "This library is now yours, read its treasures and care for it until the end," before he closed the door he gave his son one last look, "And take a peek into it's spirit."
The loud creak of the wooden door was heard, followed by the gentle sound of it closing. The little prince decided to find something to read before he starts with his new found duty; chores.
He roamed the large room, going from isle to isle in search of a satisfying book. He was still young and so could not understand grown up books, and so had a hard time finding something that he was able to read.
The library was huge, and one can easily become confused within its walls. The little prince was frustrated, "Why can't I find a book just for me? It's simply not fair!" tears started to pour down from his eyes, "I don't want to do things by myself, why should I when I have servants to do so for me?"
His sobs were interrupted when a book fell down on top of his head. It was thin, red, and covered with a picture of a boy crying in a library.
"What kind of mockery is this?!" the prince yelled out, "Who's there?!" he looked around, trying to find a sign of movement.
And movement there was. The book that the prince held in his hands opened, and out came a small, glowing, adorable mouse. It stayed on the book as it looked up to the little prince.
The king's son was surprised, for never has he ever seen such a strange being, "What are you?" The mouse didn't reply and instead started to run away, "Hey, wait!" the Prince chased the mouse, hoping that his questions would be answered.
Through twists, turns, and endless books, the mouse stopped in front of one page and one page only. It was placed on a table, with a chair in front. It was a poem.
The prince moved towards the book and held it, it was obvious that it was very old, "Do you want me to read it?" the mice nodded and jumped onto his shoulder, "Alright."

You've found it right here, with the Little Book Spirit
The little prince smiled, "That was a lovely poem." he scratched the spirit mouse's head with his little finger, "Did you make that one yourself?" his reply was a small nod. The little prince giggled and gave the small spirit a hug, "You're so cute."
As time passed by, the little prince was no longer little. With the little book spirit's guidance, he became a responsible royal. The prince would no longer spend his times outside to play, but instead stayed inside inside the library.
Every book held a lesson within its pages. One book could teach you about poverty and its ways, it taught the prince that he must not belittle the poor just because he was royalty. One book taught of bravery, and this one the prince took to heart. Yes, every book had many things for the prince to learn, but that was the fun part.
Now the prince was big, and it was time for him to take over the throne, "Little mouse, all the lessons that you have taught me over these past few years was amazing. I have many to thank you for... but I have grown up, and it is time for me to go." the prince held the small spirit on the palm of his hands, and gave him one last scratch on his head, "I will miss you, my friend..."
The Little Book Spirit held his thumb as a goodbye, and then hopped down from his hand to run into the library. That was the last time the prince had seen the spirit, and day by day he hoped that the mouse was doing fine.
Years went by, and a wise king stood in front of a door that was covered with mice etched upon its surface, "What are we doing here, father?" a little girl asked with a pretty blue bow on her head.
"Do you like to read, my little princess?" the wise king asked his daughter.
She clapped her hands and giggled, "Oh yes father, I love to read!"
The king smiled, "Then perhaps you would enjoy what I have to show to you." with his hands he opened the door for the first time in years, and admired the sight of the library, "This is now yours to care for... and to enjoy."
The little princess walked inside with the same wonder that the wise king had on his face when he had first entered the library, "This library is amazing..." the little girl laughed and started to dance around, admiring every shelf.
The king turned to leave, but gave his daughter a few words, "Read this library's treasures and care for it until the end..." and before he closed the door he gave his daughter the happiest of smiles, "And don't forget to take a peek at its spirit."
When the door had shut, the princess was left to think about what her father had just told her. With a small spin, she went off in search of a book that would satisfy her.
Not knowing that behind the books was a small, cute, and especially fluffy spirit just waiting to meet her.
The End
