His friends backed away in fright when he first saw him. He didn't blame his friends. He had a very similar reaction when other wordly creatures first visited his planet.

"Yeah."
"So you're saying we had an alien as a friend for three years?"
"Yes that is correct."
The three humans started backing away from their unhuman friend in fear.
"Are you going to kill us?" Said one of the friends.
"No of course not."
The friends continue to back away.
"Guys it's still me, I'm still your friend."
"Why earth. Out of all the planets in our galaxy, why'd you choose earth."
"Because earth has dirt, and we need dirt to power all of our space craft."
"Really," Said another one of his friends. "Your ships run on dirt? You can have all the dirt you want. My mom yells at me when ever we get any in the house."
Friends ceased to back up as their friendship with Eroltioope was restored. They all laughed their fears of their new old friend vanished.
The next day Eroltioope destroyed his mask. He new that with his true friends, he would never again need the mask to be accepted.
