FLOCK
Jay, appearing thirteen, was never one person, they have always been a Flock. 674Please respect copyright.PENANA9NWTMg7SnE
Jay isn't even human.. A Flock is a person made up of numerous birds.674Please respect copyright.PENANAxkomlgrb9z
They don't grow older, they can die, but if each singular bird divides674Please respect copyright.PENANAhwhaLAz5fw
before its time comes, they can live forever. This happens by simply cutting itself in half, replacing the birds original soul with a young one. Nobody knows where they originally came from. Some say that ancient folk with sorcery conjured them from animal sacrifice. Some even say they were aliens, and the craziest ones claim that birds are an intelligent society forming these people so they can enslave the human race.674Please respect copyright.PENANAx8hBWLQGEz
Jay can only live as long as the combination of each bird. Their birds are growing old, they could split and double the number of birds, but each bird knows that would destroy their original minds. They simply refuse to give up their lives early..
"Jay!" Called a young childs voice. A Flock that appeared seven,674Please respect copyright.PENANAjRm0AArHeV
but was actually nearing six hundred years old. "I heard the news! Your birds can't all want to stay the same, can they? Don't they know that would kill them?" Jay nodded, they could control themselves fully, but it always felt strange knowing their actions were influenced by the avians inside them. Unlike Jay, this boys Flock was entirely male, so it was easy for him to choose a gender. Jay's flock always bickered and disagreed over that, they were split, male on one side, female on the other.674Please respect copyright.PENANA4GxdKd7Rs6
"They never agree! That's why you have lived this long! This HAD to be the matter they were all unanimous on!" The boy growled, his name was Hayden, he was made up of a flock of six. Jay put their hand on Haydens head. "It'll be fine, they will figure something out-" Jay was interrupted. "BUT YOU'LL DIE!" Hayden grabbed their shirt, sobbing on their sleeve. Jay took a step back, upset, but unable to shed tears. If the Flock isn't upset, then they couldn't be sad about this either. If there is anything that does make them upset, is when their little brother figure is crying. Jay sighed and wrapped their arms around him in a hug. Their short black hair flew over their face, covering their yellow, animal eyes.674Please respect copyright.PENANA1bVY6pE2gY
"It'll be okay." They reassured him, and Jay stood up and left. Pressing their hands against their side, letting the tears finally flow, as the birds thought about what they'd left behind.
Jay sat down in their enormous room, the room had solid white walls, it once was covered in beautiful paint and ink. Now.. Jay had repainted it all, covering up the past as Jay finally reached a new century of age. Jay expected to live long enough to cover these walls once again, but they'd have to make do with their time. They had less than a year left to do so, so Jay would have to make the best of it.674Please respect copyright.PENANA3PEYVeXdhQ
Jay opened a can of black paint, that is all they thought they would need. Then Jay began. Jay slashed at the wall, making streaks of paint, and putting form to it. Jay created birds, houses, trees, and even a solid black sun. They only used black, why? Black symbolized the death to all of these things, all the things they would lose, and all the things the birds would regret losing after they destroyed Jays, and their own lives.674Please respect copyright.PENANANiJPpqiJKi
Jay frowned and hit the wall with more anger. They started drawing more things, things that hit closer to home. Human friends with lives that have long since ended. Pets they had, and people that took them in as family. They started drawing their favorite things. They drew dogs, food, fictional characters, and the sun set. Once they got to the sky though, they couldn't deal with only using black, so they picked up shades of blue, yellow, and orange. They plastered the wall with it, they made shape, lines, and flurrys of dots that represented the smallest detail. From the shape of the sun on the waves, to the flowers in the foreground.674Please respect copyright.PENANAO4zsgr7cqh
It was a beautiful masterpiece, the kind that would make one fall into pieces, and that is exactly what Jay did.
The birds were confused at first, fluttering around in the black and white room.. Until they saw it. The colors were magical, it entranced them, and pulled their eyes toward the centerpiece.674Please respect copyright.PENANA4rDWAurFdy
The sun in the painting was as magneficent as the actual ball of fire in the sky. Maybe even more so. It was so bright it looked three demensional, like it could come out of the wall at any instant. The birds were trapped in admiration, until they realized their true task. They had to pull back together. The birds all flew around the room in an organized and dignified manner. All except one black crow. 674Please respect copyright.PENANAz3MBnwRvNW
She couldn't pull her eyes away from the masterpiece, and she began to fight with herself. "Jay has to! T-they have to be able to make more of these!" She cried, her wings arched and fluttering chaotically. "This is why we are here! We need to multiply, to keep their legacy!"674Please respect copyright.PENANAYQQfKrJCYk
The other birds were already beginning to merge. "Rosetta! Come here, we need you!" Rosetta angrily charged into their balanced formation on the ground. "WE CAN'T, not now..."674Please respect copyright.PENANAALlbDDTK4O
At that moment the black she-crow exploded in a flash of selfless white light. "ROSETTA!" The birds screamed, mourning the loss of their friend. When something new and unusual happened. 674Please respect copyright.PENANAGbBIUCgBpi
Every spark from the light of the explosion hit the ground in a flurry of star-like patterns. The sparkling light decorated the painting for a moment, making it even larger than life. Though, the instant each spark hit the ground, something happened, startling the birds huddling in the corner.674Please respect copyright.PENANAHwQCLDrVDh
More than fifteen eggs began to form from the sparks, they emerged into existence from nothing. Each and every egg shook and cracked, and new, clean copies of Rosetta erupted from said eggs. Each and every one had a new clean soul, they weren't Rosetta as an individual, but they knew her job and purpose, and they all charged into eachother. Rebuilding the person who had a life to complete. One to enhance.674Please respect copyright.PENANAgDjAZYcoaR
"Ha, Ha, HA!" Chortled Jay as their laugh erupted, echoing over the walls. "Thank you, Rosetta, thank you!" They said, as they praised their thanks to the Avian who sacrificed herself to give Jay another chance.674Please respect copyright.PENANAxzHlXJ5JaS
That chance they would use to every fraction of their existence.674Please respect copyright.PENANAw4xa71Cvx5
They will make artwork that would last longer than themselves.674Please respect copyright.PENANAAqM2EV0btH
It will be magnificent.
