Author’s note: Hello! I don’t know how obvious it is, but I’m new to the whole uploading a story thing. I was recently inspired to write about a princess, but I didn’t want some old and boring fairytale. So here is Cenna’s story. Please leave reviews! Not to sound needy or anything, but that’d be cool. I’m still figuring out this uploading thing though, so hopefully I don’t totally screw everything up. Yay.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy.556Please respect copyright.PENANAxQuEr44MkA

The queen yelled in agony. This was not the first time she had felt this pain, but it would hopefully be the last. She had yet to produce her king an heir to his throne and he was starting to grow old. She prayed and prayed between screams that she would never need to endure this process again.
Those were the thoughts of Queen Nerida as the long hours of childbirth weighed down on her. The king was pacing back and forth outside of the room most of the time. His nerves were just as frayed as the queen’s. How could true love, like he was destined as a boy to have, lead to the failure of producing an heir? The witch had said his life would, in the end, be what he deserved! He had saved this kingdom from poverty, fathered three beautiful and intelligent maidens and had been merciful and powerful his entire rule.
He heard the cries of a babe and immediately stopped his pacing. The cry was high pitched, but it only let out a loud wail once before it hushed itself. Right after he heard his wife give a cry of disgust he ran into the room. He had thought maybe the babe had died only moments after it was born, but it would be much worse than that.
“It’s a girl!” The queen sobbed. The midwife tried handing the child to her, but she cringed away from it. “Get that creature away from me!”
The king went to his wife’s side, and she immediately melted into his side, sobbing her heart out.
“I’m so sorry, Francis. I’m let you and the entire kingdom down,” She whispered into his shoulder. He closed his arms around her.
“It’s alright, sweetheart. We can try at least once more,” He tried to console her, and it seemed to work. “What would you like done with the baby?” He asked her.
He almost regretted his words as his wife looked up at him, disgust and anger in her eyes that was not directed at him, but rather at their youngest child.
“You, girl,” She pointed to a maid that was helping put the medical supplies away. She was a plain woman, and quiet, so the queen thought she would have no problem doing what she was about to ask.
The maid immediately stood at attention. “Yes, your highness?” She asked.
The queen paused a moment, as if considering her course of action before she gave a final decision on it. “Take the thing, and dispose of it,” She said.
The maid was shocked, and forgetting all manners when she said, “But she is just a child, your majesty!”
“Do you dare defy your queen?” The king reprimanded her. The maid quickly shook her head no, whispering an apology. “Good. Then do as she says.”
“Yes, my liege,” She said. The midwife was on the verge of tears as she gave the tiny thing to the maid. The maid was horrified at what she had been told to do, but she could not go against the king and queen.
The baby was sleeping, but breathing fine. It was a healthy child, as any royal was expected to be born. She was beautiful with dark brown tufts of hair even though not been out of the womb for more than an hour.
The baby woke up as they left the room. Staring up at the maid were startling light grey eyes, full of hope. The baby giggled, smiling at the tears on the maid's face. With the arm that was out of the blanket she was wrapped in, she attempted to grab the water that was now streaming on the maid’s cheeks. She could not kill this amazing girl, even if her king had ordered her to. And she knew exactly where she could go to be safe.
Once the maid was down the hall, she checked to make sure no one was watching. When she saw no one she quickly entered one of the many secret servant passages that were in the large castle. She was going to get this baby out of here, and safely.
She smiled down at the little girl, who had yet to stop smiling. “Your name shall be Innocentia, for that is what you are…. innocent.”
