I was able to repack my stuff in record time. As I was prepared to leave, I learned that three more bounties placed on both governments. Whoever was behind this mess was getting bolder, and I had to get out of here as fast as possible. My meeting with Kietlan was to take place at the outpost in an hour., but we had exchanged contacts, so I sent her a message asking whether we could move it up a bit, as.i may soon be in danger. After sending the message, I received a new one from the unknown number, but I chose not to read it.
A few minutes later, I got a message back from her, agreeing to meet with me earlier, in only 15 minutes. I headed down to the outpost carefully and ordered my drink while waiting for her. During this time, I was still receiving messages from the unknown number, and I spent a small time looking at them out of curiosity. The messages were warning me about the consequences of the past few events, and asking why I haven't been reading any of the messages. After I finished reading them, I responded that was simply busy and would try to keep communication with them more often. After a few minutes, Kietlan finally arrived.550Please respect copyright.PENANAuaK6E61Xhz
After we exchanged pleasantries, she queried me about why I had asked to meet earlier. After a moment of thinking, I replied that my schedule had simply been moved up. She raised her eyebrow. "Really?" She said. "You expect me to believe that when you show up having packed all you're bags, despite the fact that our deal isn't even finalized." She chuckled, before taking a drink from her own drink. I thought through my options for a few moments. "I have reason to believe that my life may be in danger," I said, quietly. "I need to head out of the system as fast as possible." She watched me with interest, as she finished her drink. "Added danger means added price tag." She said, eventually. "Name your price." I responded speedily. She sat back and thought for a moment. "Fees for traveling to a far way system, plus a safety fee means 400,000 credits." As we were about to shake on it, the front door was blown open, and the room was filled with smoke from a smoke grenade.550Please respect copyright.PENANAwyCTzPu6c3
As policemen charged in, I and Kietlan were able to duck behind the bar counter, which we were sitting near to. Other bounty hunters, smugglers, and their buyers sitting around us were getting arrested. Before we could do anything, The barkeep grabbed a rifle from under the counter and fired into the group of police. Kietlan jumped up, and grabbed her own pistol, and fired, before motioning for me to follow her. I rushed over, grabbed my stuff and went to follow her. As we pushed past the policemen at the door, I grabbed my own weapon from my bag and kept it at the ready.
Before, we had chosen Zargo, a small forest planet on the edge of the outer rim as our chosen location. There was a small settlement there, where I could stay for the next few weeks. Despite the chaos back at the outpost, the trip to the spaceport where her ship was parked was mostly calm, as most police forces were focused on the raid. Due to this, we were able to get to her ship and take off without much incident, landing on Zargo only ten minutes later. There, Kietlan began shopping around for new jobs while I started to find a place to stay. She briefly began to question me on who I think is trying to kill me, but eventually dropped the matter after I didn't answer.
