"What happened," I said angrily. He had something to do with this. He always does.
"Nothing! Something just rammed into the boat! And it was big. Zillynn, go grab your sword. You are the only fighter I trust." He smiled at me. I rolled my eyes and quickly ran to my room and grabbed my sword. I almost left when I realized that my flute was on the desk. How did it get there? I thought it was on the floor. I quickly grabbed it to. Glad all the same that I remembered it. Just then Dan ran out of his cabin, not paying attention, and ran into me.
"Dude seriously ge-" when he saw that it was me he shut up immediately. "Sorry Zi. Thought you were someone else." He smiled and helped me up. I smiled back and we both turned and ran up to the wheel where the captain was shouting.
"Everyone! If you would kindly settle down, we could fix this problem without any trouble." I was confused. What problem? I looked around me. Finally realizing that everyone was panicking. What really happened when the boat was rammed into? I ran up to Captain Lori.
"Captian! What's going on?" I demanded
"You don't know? I won't worry you then. Go find your father and tell him I need his assistance." she shooed me, and went down into her cabin. I gritted my teeth, and found my father.
"Lori needs you down in her cabin."
"Thank you Zilynn," he smiled and patted my head. He had a way of grinding on my nerves, and I was ready to punch him in the face.
"Zi! Zi!" I turned towards the voice and saw Chico. Danien's little brother. I smiled. Chico always had a way of making me laugh. "Zi! Dan wants to see you!" I scooped him up in my arms. He was always just so huggable. Him being tiny was just the big golden bow on the gift that was Chico. Even for a 7 year old he was short. Shorter than most. But I always liked that about him. It made us even closer friends, being short myself. And no one on the boat was short.
We walked to his families cabin. I stepped inside slowly. Even though Dan was my closest friend, this was only the second time I was in his cabin.
"Do you have your flute?" A voice asked me abrubtly. I turned towards the voice and saw his mother Herimia.
"I do. Why do I need it?" I stared at her, and she stared right on back.
"I'm tired of the noise the other people are making on deck. Do you remember the song your mother would play to you when you were scared?"
"Of course I remember it. So what?" How did she know my mother played her flute when I was scared?"
"Go up on deck, and play the song. Think only on how calm it made you when it was played."
"Why?"
"To calm them down. Why else?"
