Forest Killers - Chapter 16 Finale

Few things I was only certain of.

Jace is alive.

My family was involved in some deep shit.

Gaven knows Jace.

Gaven knew who I was.

They are both involved in this.

And so am I.

I heard footsteps.

3 no maybe 4 men.

" Grab her."

Some one grabbed me from my hand and jerked my up.

" Ow, what the hell ?" I said.

" We need your brain sweetheart, if not we will put a gun in your throat , oh and in his."

The guy grabbed someone and he put a gun near his temples.

" No." I kicked and struggled but nothing worked.

They got Gaven , he was roughed up.

" Why isn't he one of yours?"

" Ha , one of mine wouldn't sneak in unauthorized , or same a stupid bitch like you, when he knows how much you are important to us." He punched him in the gut.

" Gaven." I shouted.

" Ohh relax , I trained him worse."

Gaven looked up to me , he was all bruised .

" Al-" the guy kicked him in the head.

I screamed.

" Lets go , bring him along."

Gaven had passed out and they grabbed him and slide'd him after us.

" Where are you taking me?" I said.

" Don't worry princess , we need answers."

" About what?"

" Well , that's not your fucken business."

I gulped.

We entered a room , it had only a table in the middle.

Someone was already seated there.

" Jace." I said.

His head jerked around , his face was roughed up too.

He looked the same as when we were kids but more mature , he even had a short beard.

" No , let her go." I noticed he was tied up to the chair.

" Tie them up as well , we will have ourselves a family reunion."

They pushed me on a chair and tied me up.

"Ouch."

" Don't be a baby , princess."

I recognize them now. They where all in house that time.

The boss was the biggest one, his shaved head shined in the light.

They grabbed Jace's chair and put him near where Gaven was tied up.

I was all alone around the table.

" So , princess-."

"Stop calling me that."

" Ohh why is that ? Your beloved Daddy , called you that right ?"

I spit in his face , which was inching near mine.

His face changed , a vein popped on his face.

I didn't see it coming.

I Heard my brother shout.

He slapped me and my face jerked furiously side ways.

I could see red dots and I tasted blood.

" Stupid bitch , know your place."

I felt a surging pain in my cheek.

" That's what got your stupid father to his death."

My eyes snapped.

" What did you say?"

" I like that face." He looked amused.

" Yes , I KILLED YOUR FATHER." He laughed.

I stood up , didn't care about the pain in my hands.

He grabbed something from his pocked , it was shiny and silver.

A knife.

" Stop it , or I will kill you and I don't want that until you help me find my treasure."

My eyes stung with tears, but I readjusted myself slowly.

He put the knife near my neck.

" Stop it , Mike , ask her and just get it over with." I heard Gaven shout.

Mike sighed.

" Lets see." he look a piece of paper out of this pocket and put it on the table in front of me.

"Your father left this clue to wear he put the merchandise , tell me where it is or I'll kill your beloved brother and stupid boyfriend."

I looked at them , they were both trying to get out of the ropes , I saw Gaven wiggling something from his pocket.

A knife.

I snapped my head back and focused on the paper so that I distract Mike.

I read out loud :

" Little princess , played here.

Where the sun shines on her pretty face.

Wind and storm , no harm is done.

A secret volt is here , but a secret shall never be undone.

As princess will never know the secret.

Love , life and strength is build here.

No darkness is aloud.

Let this place remain , our little secret.

Tears fell done from my eyes.

" Revolting , so tell me where it is."

" Didn't you hear me , I don't know the place myself."

" Think its a riddle."

" I don't know."

" Stupid bitch, think it through , you got an hour. Let's go boys."

I kept looking at this piece of paper.

When the door closed, Jace spoke;

" Pumpkin."

" Jace."

" Are you alright ?"

" Yeah , what is going on Jace ?"

He sighed.

" Our father was involved in some serious business , I thought he was a selfish bastard , I just found out recently why he did all that he did."

" Why is that ?"

" Our mother was sick , father couldn't afford the payments of the cure. He heard of a group of people which trade money for work. So he went and got himself in this mess without knowing. After our mother found out , she told him to stop and hide the merchandise so no one , not even her will find it."

" That's what got him killed."

" Yeah , I ran away because I wanted to find out what he was doing , and after sometimes , I found out that he was involved in this. They found me and took me in, if I didn't work for them they threatened to kill you."

" Me ?"

" Yeah , father trained you without you even knowing."

" Trained me in what ?"

" Logic , perception , riddles. He wanted you to find it."

" Why me , why not you , you were older and much more mature."

" You are sweet and kind , you would have known what to do with the merchandise and lock those guys up. Plus I was already involved. But the note never came to you , so the secret hasn't been revealed since then."

I read the note again.

" What is the merchandise Jace ?"

He looked down.

" Jace. Tell me."

He sighed : " Its a drug to kill children."

" What ?!" I cried out.

" Children are innocent and gives parents hope , if the children get seriously sick then the family will pay anything to have an antidote."

These people are sick.

And I was about to be , how could they involve children in this.

I couldn't speak.

" Alice." It was Gaven.

" You- , lied to me, all this time."

" No I didn't , the clan was looking for you and I hided you putting my life instake."

" Why ?"

" Because your brother told me to."

" So what happened , wasn't real for you."

" No wait-"

" What happened between you two?" Jace looked angry at Gaven.

I looked down on the paper , nothing was real , everybody lied to me.

They think I was too weak to handle it.

I heard them talk but I blocked their voices out and read the paper.

Then two cold hands grabbed my hands.

I jerked around in fright.

" Calm down , its me." Gaven said.

" How ?"

" You saw the knife before didn't you?"

" Yeah."

" Look , what I did with you and what I feel for you are all real." he whispered in my ear.

I looked in his eyes , he wasn't lying but I was too hurt to forgive him now.

" Alice." Jace said.

When I was free , I ran in his arms.

He hugged me so tight , he crushed me, I missed him , his hugs where my safe place.

My brother , my only family .

" Lets go." Gaven said.

" Wait , I think I know where the merchandise is."

They both stopped and looked at me .

" What , even I couldn't find it."

" Well it was mine to find , he did write what only I could understand."

" Where is it ?" he asked.

" I can't talk , lets go home for now."

They nodded and we sneaked out the door slowly.

My brother held my arm tightly as they both walked in front of me.

"Hide." Gaven said.

They pushed me in a room.

It was dark and I couldn't see anything.

" Who is there ?"

That voice , I know it .

" Caleb."

" Alice , what the hell ?

Gaven turned on the light.

Caleb was tied up.

I ran to him.

" What the hell Caleb , what are you doing here ?"

" I could ask the same damn question."

" Avery , is she okay ?" I could feel my head spin.

" Yeah don't worry , she doesn't know anything."

" What is going on Caleb?"

" Look , just get out of here and go near Avery , I broke up with her so that they couldn't hurt her."

" You did what ?"

I slapped him in the face.

" Do you thing women are weak or something , Avery is the most strongest woman I have ever known, you should have trusted her."

" And then she would have ended up dead."

He looked furious and hurt.

" You would have protected her."

I walked to Gaven and put my hand out.

He shook his hand and handed me the knife.

" We are going to get out of here and you will see her again , and tell her you love her , you hear me ?"

His eyes where wide, but he nodded.

" Look , I know its not my business but whats going on Cal ?"

" Lets get out of here first , Alice , he can talk later." Gaven said.

They nodded at each other.

He went out the door slowly after Gaven gave us the okay to pass.

We walked for what looked like hours in a maze like corridors.

" We're here." Jace said.

He opened a door and I could smell fresh air , we were free.

" Run." Gaven said.

We weren't chased but we had to run before they find us.

I didn't know where we are but I ran after them.

It only took a few blocks before I recognized Gaven's house.

Megan was outside , it looked like it needed a wash.

We entered , all without breath.

" Come in." Gaven said.

I walked to the couch and crashed on it , so did Jace and Caleb.

" Cal?" I said after catching my breath.

" Yeah I know , my little brother got sick suddenly , and my father looked for this clan which were said to have an antidote for curing any disease. I went with him that time , and Mike said that the price to pay for the antidote was-"

" You." I finished.

He nodded, " My father didn't want to but , this way I would save my little brother. You don't know it but I had an older brother too once , he died in an accident and so did my mother."

I put my hand on my mouth.

I didn't know about this.

" My father never forgave himself , for being drunk that night. He was drunk and my brother and mother went for him and they crashed."

I got up and went to sit next to him.

" I'm sorry Cal."

He smiled sadly at me.

" That's why I couldn't let my father suffer again , I was at home that time taking care of my little brother."

I hugged him.

He looked in so much pain.

" Thank you Al , I'm fine. Just please don't tell Avery , I wish to tell her myself."

I nodded.

Gaven came in the room , with a tray full of glasses with water.

He handed one each and put it down.

" When I saw you with Gaven that time , I thought you were somehow involved." he said

I nodded again.

" Technically I am. So wait your little brother , don't tell me he was infused with that drug ?"

He looked hurt and nodded.

That was it.

I put the glass down and sprinted outside the house , I could hear them scream my name but I didn't stop.

I had to stop this.

But two strong hands grabbed me and spinned me around.

" What the hell Al." It was Gaven.

I started crying.

" Gav , this has to stop."

" And what are you gonna do about it huh , get yourself killed. I will never allow that." He had tears in his eyes.

" Gav , let me go I have to , I am the only one who can do it."

" Do what ?" he shock me.

" Destroy everything." I shouted.

He stopped and looked at me.

" What ?"

" You heard me."

" You know where it is."

I nodded.

" Lead the way." he said

" No."

" No ? and why is that?"

" You will get yourself killed."

"No I won't , If I let you go and something happens to you then , that's when I die."

" Because my brother would kill you."

He looked at me.

" No , cause I would kill myself."

He looked dead serious.

Tears stung my eyes again.

He grabbed me and kissed me roughly.

When he let go he said : " Lead the way."

I nodded and started running knowing he was behind me , made me feel safer and stronger.

When I stopped, Gaven said:

" Your house." he looked stunned.

" What ?"

" It can't be here , they crashed the house and found nothing."

I smiled at him. " That's cause they looked in the wrong places."

I walked around the house , into the garden.

" Alice?" Gav said.

" Trust me."

I took the note out and read it out loud again:

" Little princess , played here.

Where the sun shines on her pretty face.

I walked and stopped in front of an old tree.

" Don't tell me." Gaven said from behind me.

" Yeah , this is it . This tree stood after a bad storm and wind couldn't bring it down. I always loved this tree , and only my father knew about it. He build me a swing and also a small hiding place inside it where only a small child can hide. That's why I used to play here. That's why he said you and me. This is it, I'm sure."

I put the paper near my heart, took a deep breath and put it in my pocket.

" I just have to remember where is the door."

" What ?"

" Its been so long , I forgot about it , that's why father wrote not even I will know where it is. He presumed I would forget it. "

I touched the tree , it was rough and old.

I looked at it more intently. There it was a small crack.

"Here." I said.

I removed some old leaves which are stuck around the door so no one could find it.

Gaven came near me and helped.

Finally I found a small knob.

I pulled the door , but it was heavy.

" Leave it to me." Gaven said.

He struggled as well but managed to open it.

Inside was full of small packets , shaped of bears.

Damn them all to hell.

I was shacking with anger.

" Well , Well good thing we followed you." Mike was behind us , pointing a gun at us.

" Move bastards that's mine."

We moved slowly.

Mike was moving near the tree.

" Finally."

" Gav , do you have a lighter?" I whispered to him.

He nodded and moved slowly to grab the lighter and gave it to me.

" Not so fast." I yelled at him .

" What ?"

I put the lighter on and moved to the tree.

" Put the gun down or I will burn everything."

" Ohh we have a feisty one." He lowered the gun down.

" Kick it this way."

He obeyed , and he smiled as if he had won.

I grabbed the gun and pointed it at him.

" You don't have the balls , bitch."

My hand was shaking but I had to compose myself.

One of his man started running , he was heading to Gaven with a gun in his hand.

No no.

I dropped the lighter and started running to him.

I won't reach in time.

I managed to stop in front of him and then boom.

There was a loud sound.

My stomach was burning , did I manage to stop him in time ?

I saw Mike coming this way angry as I never saw him.

Somehow the tree got on fire.

I smiled relieved.

Father , I did it.

" You bitch!" he shouted.

He grabbed the gun from his man and pointed it at me.

I quickly did the same and bang.

Mike fell down.

But so did I.

" Shit Alice ." Gaven was holding me.

" I killed him?"

Gaven looked at him.

" Yeah , I think so."

" Thank god, Gav I did it."

Gaven was crying.

" Why are you crying?" I said , somehow I couldn't talk properly.

" You got shot Alice , twice."

" What ?" I looked down , blood was coming out of my stomach.

" Shit Alice , I'm so sorry."

" Don't-" I coughed.

" I love you Alice."

I looked up at him.

" I love you too." I smiled.

My head was pounding and darkness was filling my vision.

Was I going to die?

" Alice , Al-"

Darkness swallowed me again.

I opened my eye's slowly.

Where was I ?

Beep , Beep , Beep.

I heard a beeping sound.

Ahh , I was in hospital.

Wait what ?

I jerked upwards but pain in my stomach and shoulder stopped me.

" Hey , watch out pumpkin." Jace's smiling face came to view.

" Jace." I said relieved it was all true.

" Yeah it me , kid."

" I go tell the nurse you woke up."

" Jace ?"

" Yeah?"

" Where's Gav - and cal?"

" They're okay don't worry. Gaven is asleep and Cal is in the waiting room with all your friends."

I smiled at him and nodded.

When the door closed , I looked at the bed next to mine , Gaven was asleep.

His face looked so peaceful.

" ALICE." Avery came in running , poor Gaven woke up with a fright and fell down the bed.

" Opps."

I bursted out laughing , " Ow ow ow " I said.

" Girl you had me worried , Morgana and Charlotte with Emerys and Lucas.

Cal came in and smiled at me.

Gaven look relieved that I woke up but didn't talk.

We talked for hours , well till the finishing hours were over.

The all gave me small hugs not to hurt me and the crazy crew left.

Gaven stayed behind.

" I'll give you few more minutes." the nurse smiled at us.

" Gav?" I said.

He walked slowly and sat on the bed near me and grabbed my hand.

" Thank God you are okay , I was going crazy , till your brother knocked me out."

I chuckled.

" Don't do that again A. I'm serious, Please , don't leave me alone." He said covering his face with my hand.

" Gav , look at me." I said.

He looked up and I stroked his face with my free hand.

" You said , you loved me , was it real ?"

He chuckled.

" Never been more serious in my life."

I smiled and tears fell down from my eyes.

He smiled back.

" You and me Alice."

" You and me Gaven."

He leaned in and kissed me softly , it felt like the first time.

" Hey , don't forget about me." Jace came bursting in.

He looked at us , then he grabbed him and punched him playfully.

" Make her cry and I will make you forget you ever existed , deal ?"

" Deal." Gaven said.

I looked at Jace , I found my family.

I looked at Gaven , I found the best part of me.
