Rubin’s father (Or as his father calls him, Ruby), has never done anything to support his family. He became an alcoholic after Rubin was born, and later began taking drugs. It wasn’t till Rubin was five and his mother left that his father became obsessed with gambling. ​​​​​​​

They already lived a rough lifestyle with the father barely having enough money to pay for the rent, food, and bills. So when his father began racking up a ridiculous amount of debt in the gambling arenas, their life got much harder. 

He was in debt to many people and even dangerous gangs, and constantly received death threats, vandalism, destruction of property, and even violent assault. It wasn’t until a much older Rubin found out about his debt, and began working to try to pay off all the money. 

But Rubin’s father made a serious mistake when he racked up a huge debt with the mafia boss who ran the city.
