Every item of clothing she owned was scattered across her bedroom floor; it seemed she’d hidden her favourite sweater from herself again.

Maya glanced at the time and groaned; working at a high-fashion store meant her choice of attire had to meet a particular standard, but with time slipping away, she opted for a safe choice and settled on a white ruffled blouse with a black pencil skirt.

Between the profanities, she huffed, wrestling with the fabric to fasten the buttons. With the way this day was going, she wouldn’t be surprised if one of them popped off when she left her apartment.

‘Handbag, breakfast, name badge,’ Maya muttered, snatching up her coat as she stepped over the strewn clothes of what now looked like a bomb site. She’d looked better, but she was presentable.

Darting through the apartment, she grabbed her handbag and a piece of fruit on the way to the front door.

‘Come on,’ she sighed, impatiently tapping her foot whilst calling the elevator again.

The ping was a welcome relief as the doors parted to an empty space, and she was already inside and pressing the button before they finished opening.

‘Maya, wait up!’ A hand slipped through the gap before she could be on her way.

‘Hurry up if you’re getting in. I’m already late,’ she whined at the tall, raven haired man. Everything seemed to be against her getting to work on time this morning.

‘You going up?’ His eyes twinkled as he scrunched his nose and chuckled.

‘Jin, don’t you dare press that button,’ Maya scolded, batting his hand away from the panel and hitting her floor again.

‘Damn it!’ she said under her breath as she fumbled in her handbag. They had already started descending, but her work badge was not sitting in the inside pocket; organisation was not one of her strong points.
Finally reaching the lobby, she gave her best attempt at a run in her five inch heels, but when Jin shouted for her to wait up, Maya almost exploded with a mouthful of obscenities. She slowed herself down, which proved not easy on the shiny marble floor wearing shoes with absolutely no grip.
‘Forgetting something?’ he said, casually strolling over with her name badge between his fingers.
Maya smiled and patted his arm. ‘Jin, you’re a lifesaver.’
‘I know,’ Jin grinned, walking beside her when she started to pick up her pace.
Her neighbour really was a lifesaver. Since moving from Busan into Park Grande Complex in Seoul a couple of months ago, Jin and his friend Hobi had been nothing but gentlemen. Lifting heavy furniture, connecting electronics and even surprising her with the occasional home-cooked meal.
Half Spanish, half Korean, Maya was petite but curvy. With her ample breasts, a backside that filled her jeans and olive skin with soft features, she didn't blend in with her peers. Whilst she wasn’t the typical beauty standard for Korean women, she was stunning in her own right.

Jin opened her car door for her. ‘Your sweater’s on the back of the sofa too.’

‘I'll pick it up after work.’ Maya said starting her engine. ‘Chicken and beer?’

‘Sounds like a plan, I’ll send Hobi to the supermarket.’

The tyres squealed as Maya left the car park, leaving Jin waving at her from the rear view.
