Okay, this is my most unhinged scene that didn't give too many spoilers. Some things may not make sense, but you haven't read the rest of the book, so what do you want for a quarter?
This is most of chapter eight. It's the last... I'd say 3/4 of it, maybe 2/3. Anyway, enjoy this little bit of unhingedness.

A couple hours later, M woke up with a start. The sheets were tangled around her ankles and sweat dripped into her eyes.
A loud knock startled her even more, so much so that she fell off the bed.
"Who's there?" she snarled.
Dillon stuck his head in. "We heard you scream and everyone thinks you're being kidnapped, so they sent me to check on you. You aren't being kidnapped, are you?"
M shook her head.
"I didn't think so. She's good!" he called, then left the room.
Shaking, M pulled her knees to her chest and began to rock slowly. She pulled her phone out of her pocket and, stuffing her earbuds into her ears, haltingly shuffled the Apocalypse playlist.
"Take me to the war; falling from the ashes. Danger on the floor; running with the rabbits. Break the cage, through the snakes, coming for you lover."
Her breathing picked up as her dream replayed over and over through her head.
"Heard it all before, they're just shooting cannons. You're all that I adore. Bring me to your palace."
"Amalia, are you-"
"DON'T CALL ME THAT!" she screamed.
"Woah, M, it's just me!" Mia yelled back.
"Sorry, I'm sorry, I didn't realize."
"It's fine, I was just trying to make sure you were okay. We heard screaming."
"Screaming?"
"Yeah, you were screaming," Mia said tentatively.
"I'm f-fine."
"Are you sure?"
"Yeah, I- I'm fine. I'm fine, okay?"
"Okay, if you say so, M. We're here for you, 'kay?"
"Okay."
"Trust, my love, will keep you safe from the wolves.546Please respect copyright.PENANAAAJozk4dq1
"Safe from the wolves."
Mia backed out of the room and vanished down the hallway.
"I can be the cure. I'm giving if you're asking. Tell me you want more, I'll bring you from the ashes."
Slowly, M stood up and unsteadily walked out of the hotel room.
"Break the cage, through the snakes, coming for you lover."
She dashed through the halls, searching for a door, a staircase, an elevator, something to get her higher than she was now.
"I just need to hold on, this feeling's not gone. You're all that I want, and we could be bound. If you want the crown, come with me now."
She burst from the door and tumbled onto the roof, tears dropping to the ground. Drunk on adrenaline, fear, and music, she staggered to the edge of the building.
"Trust, my love, let me inside of your walls. Trust, my love, will keep you safe from the wolves."
"Trust, god, effing trust! I can't trust my own freaking brain right now, how am I supposed to trust anything?!"

"Safe from the wolves."
She fell to her knees, cradling her head in her hands. "Dangit, I don't cry," she hissed, scrubbing her face with her hands. Gasping for breath, she forced the images from her head. "Go away! GET OUT!"
"Come with me now. Trust, my love, let me inside of your walls."
"Hey, M, are you okay?" Spinning around, M saw Chris, Dillon, Mia, Elena, and Emily, staring at her with concerned looks on their faces.
"I'm fine, guys, clearly," she snapped.
"She's gone sarcastic," Mia whispered to Elena. "Chris is about to get punched in the face."
"Goodness, we could hear you screaming from inside. If you need help, or, like, therapy, I know a guy-"
"A guy who's currently a couple thousand feet above the Earth? For the love of everything, Chris, shut up!" She balled her fist and swung, connecting with Chris's cheek.
"Ow! What was that for?!"
"Trust, my love, will keep you safe from the wolves.
"Leave me alone!"
Whack.
"Safe from the wolves."
"Stop!"
Whack.
"Safe from the wolves."
"No!"
Whack.
"Safe from the wolves."
"Just go away."
Whack.
"Safe from the wolves."
"WHAT IN THE WORLD, M, STOP IT!" Dillon yelled in a moment of uncharacteristic anger. He grabbed M's wrists and held her arms behind her back, while Elena and Mia dragged a bruised, bleeding Chris out of M's reach.
M glared at Chris from under a curtain of bloodied hair. Her eyes were dark and spoke of murder.
"What the fruitloop is wrong with you?" Chris mumbled, blood dribbling from his lips. His right eye had already swollen shut, the left one quickly bruising to match.
"I don't know," she whispered.
"Well, Mia," Chris coughed, standing up and glancing over his shoulder, "she sure let me know.
There ya go, a nice little bit of the unhinged world of The Forgottens.
I hope you liked it! :D
