Jay Ellis - This is an issue that I deal with a lot, especially after just finishing a large project. What has been helping me more here recently, is after you finish a big accomplishment, take one to two days off where you don't even entertain your thoughts with writing. Your brain needs a break to prevent burnout. However, don't take too long of a break, or you will find it difficult to get back into the swing of things. A day or two should be good enough.

Second thing. When not taking a break, your goal should be to work on your writing project a minimum of 15 minutes a day. If this is too hard, then do 10 minutes. Anyone can spend 10 minutes on anything. You don't have to write well during this time. Your only goal is to stay productive and focused on only your current task. You're trying to break through the mental resistance and enter a flow state. However, you're only required to accomplish the 10 to 15 minutes (depending on what works best for you).

Jay Ellis - @Mira, Absolutely! Happy to help. :) I hope it works for you. The idea is to trick your brain by keeping the goal extremely small and easily attainable, with the hope that after you complete the 10 to 15 minutes, you'll actually end up doing more. However, if after the 10 to 15 minutes you can't get anymore done, that's totally fine. Consider the task for the day completed, and don't negatively judge yourself. Your brain needs to believe that the 10 to 15 minutes is the only requirement, or else the mental resistance will end up being stronger.

Mira - Ahhh, that sos helpfull! Thank you! I think this weekend was my two day break so I'll def try the 10 minute thing. I normally focus on writing during my snack and lunch breaks but I'll def try that for time out of school!!
