Yes, this is a contest that has been done before. But, with the permission of the person who originally thought of this idea, I am making Colors! 2.

So the basic gist is, pick a color, any color, and describe it in any way possible. Do a poem, do a story, an essay, whatever suits you best. For ideas, you might want to look at the first Colors! by RT Cipher. It can be your favorite color, or the one that you despise the most. Think outside the box, if you will.

BTW, here's a funfact. Did you know you cannot explain what a color looks like to a blind person? Try it!

Music has often been described as breathing, something one cannot live without. Music is the soothing voice within our ears, the voice that speaks what cannot be spoken, and carries the words that describe us so well.

In this contest authors will be takes with writing a story of preferably under 12k words that revolves around music. The story can be a romance, adventure, or even a Horror as long as music as a central theme. The story must also incorporate a song you created of any type of genre from rock to blues. The challenge in this writing is to not also tell an enjoyable story, but enlighten the reader's senses of sound and music through any means necessary. Illuminate the reader's mind through vivid descriptions! In essence this story combines both poetic(Or lyrical) skills and fiction writing to create a musically compelling story! The focus on music is more to the poetic/literary aspect of it. Music is simply poetry in its written form and poetry can be a great addition to fiction stories. Enjoy!Requirements: Must incorporate your own written song. Under 12k words. Revolving around music, but the story can also be a romance!

As an author, my favorite part of writing is developing the characters throughout the story. Sometimes I will use the same character over and over again in my writing, but with some slight changes. But for me, it's always best to start a new character from scratch to make it more interesting.

Usually, I fill out a chart that goes something like this:

For this contest, you will be creating your own character based on this outline. Of course, you can add categories, but it would be preferable if you filled out at leastall of these. So let's say your character was in an action story, you could add categories like "Weapon of Choice" or "Superpower", or things like that. You can make your character anything you want: a zombie, a vampire, an animal. The possibilities are endless.

A contest ending just after Halloween! You have your choice from these prompts and story starters. There is no limit, and you may write one story for each prompt/story starter. Be sure to quote which prompt you are using!

1. Pretend that you are a jack-o-lantern. Write about Halloween from a jack-o-lantern's point of view.

2. Write your own ghost story.

3. Everybody said the old Bosworth mansion was haunted ...

4. The white sheets with black eyes peering through holes of the costume gave no clue as to who the kid was…
