I know I have a few writing contest, but watching my children play I come up with an idea.
We talk about love, crave love, pray for love, fall in and out of love. So I want you to describe what you think love is.
Can be a few sentences, or a few thousand. Use whatever you have to do and tell me what love is to you.
Judging will be slightly on grammar and spelling but mostly on how well the writer expresses themselves.
For this contest, pick a writer here on Penana and write about them. You could write about their writing, what you think the person is like ect. But, there is one rule, you cannot mention the writers name. One the piece is written, people are free to guess the writer in the comments, and you can tell them if they are correct or not there.
Who knows, someone may write something about you.
Rules: Nothing mean, rude ect. is to be written about a writer or their works. We will obey the Golden Rule: If you can't type anything nice, don't type anything at all. Let keep the cursing to a minimum here, and pay respects to an author you respect, appreciate, or just think deserves recognition. You are not allowed to write this about yourself, though I hope no one here would think to do that.
Use the picture that is the cover, and write a story. Is there something waiting at the end of the road? Is the road just a metaphor for something else? That's for you to decide.
Any length, any genre is accepted. Looking for creativity, captivating stories, grammar, spelling, and the flow in general. I'll try to correct the quality of the picture as soon as I can.
Your prompt for this story is Wishing On A Star. For this contest, write about a wish made on a star. Does it come true? Does it fail? What happens when the wish is made?
I ask you try to keep it PG, but lets not get higher than PG-13, because there are children on here. Any genre, any length is acceptable.
Make a short story with a word limit of 2000 words, my only request is that it has to involve a sad death. The death can be about anything you choose as long as it seems sad to you, I want someone to make me cry (no real reason why). You can make it with gore or without, it's all up to you.
I will be the judge along with other people that I know.
Have fun and make me cry! TT^TT <---- Like this
This contest revolves around one question:
How would yourself from 10 years ago react to how you are now?
Any word limit, keep it (relatively, we are in some cases talking about young children here) clean. Like, it doesn't have to be spotless, but let's steer clear of overwhelming gore. Winners will be determined by like count!
The prompt is mostly self explanatory. Simply describe or explain to me, in any way you would like, what fall/autumn means to you. Describe how it makes you feel, why you love or hate or don't care at all for it. Make me feel and understand your perception of fall , make me see fall through your eyes. This can be directed at any aspect of the season, any event within the season, anything you want at all.
I will be judging on grammar, imagery/description, syntax/sentence structure, and the emotion you convey through your words. I will also take like counts into consideration, but likes will ultimately not be the deciding factor.
Simply put, I want to hear what fall means to you, in as much detail as possible.
Good luck! I'm very excited to see the entries!
Everyone has a favorite song, a song that inspiresconfidence, inspireshope, inspiresjoy and sorrow and pain and laughing. Everyone has a favorite song that inspires something.
In this contest, I want you to express to me what the song makes you feel, what memories arise when you hear it, what it makes you think of, or anything else for that matter as long as it relates to yoursong. Don't just tell me though. Show it. Get creative. We are writers after all, aren't we?
No length requirement.
Must be an actual song, and it has to be mentioned somewhere, either in an ending/beginning note, in the story itself, or the title.
All writing is accepted exceptessay writing. Leave that at school, amigos.
One entry per person.
How it ties in with your song.
1st Place: A poem, a short story, and a prize of choice (must be non-payment and internet-only, such as a picture I can post on DeviantArt) inspired by your song.
2nd Place: A poem and a short story inspired by your song.
3rd Place: A poem ora short story inspired by...you get the point.
A considerably less serious and hopefully fun contest in comparison to my last one. Hope you enjoy! Get inspired and creative and all that jazz! :)
Write a confession for anything. A kelpto, an addict, anything you pick!
Word count: as much as you want, has to be more than one sentence though.
Judging is creators pick.
Rating can be as high as R so go for whatever you want to write
I did this twice before and had amazing stories its a new school year so show us what you have got!
1 sentence no more and it must be moving, doesn't need context it can be all dialog.
[Controversial Subjects Explored. Please be respectful.]
We live in an age where offending is wrong. It is, certainly, but in my opinion so is such censorship.
We believe what we believe. That's a fact of life, and public opinion or what is generally considered "correct" should not dictate such a thing. We shouldn't have to feel terrified of expressing opinions. They are, after all, what makes us human, and in my opinion, anyone who openly goes against the norm with such views (while still being respectful) is brave, far braver than those who conform.
This challenge is focused on one thing: expression of opinions, especially on controversial subjects. This is where writers can say something that people may not agree with for one reason or another. I want to encourage bravery and encourage voices to be heard.
- General grammar.
- Eloquence and powerful word use.
- Expression of opinion.
**Like-count will also go under consideration.
Simply express in the way you know best, be it essay, poem, short story, quote, etc. All word lengths accepted.
If I catch you being disrespectful and blatantly rude to another contestant, you will be disqualified.
You can do more than one entry, but only one of those entries will win, if one is to be picked. Bot could be excellent, but it would be unfair to have all of your entries as the winners and not anyone else.
Winners Will Receive...
1st Place: A poem and a short story based on your expressed topic, and an additional prize of choice. (Extra poem or story, collaboration, an art piece (would be posted to DeviantArt if that were the case), or any non-payment, non-mail prize that we can keep via internet).
2nd Place: A short story and a poem on your expressed topic.
3rd Place: A short story or a poem based on your expressed topic.
Possible Subjects Include:
- Teen pregnancy.
+anything else you feel you need to express.
I once had a friend who wrote this poem...it was a bit short, but very moving though! I had a feeling you might all have similar stories which you'd like to share...poems, short stories or quotes, anything will do!:) I hope you'll all enjoy this contest!
I am from makeshift forts
Yellowing old quilts, Duct tape
and overturned couches
From the blossoming sounds of black
and white keys
the Music whirling like a kaleidoscope
of colors in the air
I am from bulging leaf piles
From pen and from paper
Shady hammocks and shards of
broken glass glistening in dawn's light
- I smiled anyway and gave the boy
his frisbee back
I am from the caressing smiles of
Best friends, raucous laughter and goodbye hugs that last ten
From inside jokes and eyes that say more
than words ever could
I am from high expectations, goals and dreams
Hundreds of activities that sometimes make me scream
But in all the scrambling rush
the most important thing to me
Is who I choose to be.
One stormy night a stranger comes to your door asking for shelter for the night. Tell whether he is welcomed in or turned away and the events of the night. The catch-when the stranger leaves, it is learnt that the stranger was an angel sent on a mission to find human compassion
