Roger Leaks Jr. was born into an all-Black sharecropping community in rural South Carolina during the early 20th century. Life handed him tough challenges from the start, and by age ten, he carried the responsibilities of an adult, supporting his mother and siblings through hardship. Despite years filled with toil, struggle, and brief moments of joy, Roger grew into a strong, determined young man. His resilience and character shone through as he built a life rooted in love and partnership. On September 30, 1939, he married Pebble Johnson, beginning a lifelong union marked by teamwork, perseverance, and deep devotion. Roger’s story is one of strength, sacrifice, and the unbreakable bonds of family.
