I think it goes without saying that most people, if not all, draw enormous amounts of inspiration from music - whether it be a favorite blues melody or a catchy pop song, we've all run to our writing desk at least once for penning down the emotions it inspires in us.

Now's the time to tap in!

Pick a song - any song - and spin a yarn around it - commonly known as the quintessential song-fic - and don't let genres or themes define you. Best of luck!

Since it's a short stories contest, I will put the maximum word limit at 4000 words. Can you go over by a paragraph or two? Sure thing. Remember, just because the maximumword limit is 4000 words, doesn't mean you can't write something as short as two sentences if that's what you enjoy writing.

Re-write an old fairy tale that you read.

RULES:

It can be ANY fairy tale. Even a folk tale. Even a mix of different fairy tales. It must remain similar, yet different from the original story. Make sure to put the names of the stories you're doing at the beginning. No word limit. Rating can be up to PG-13, but should NOT involve graphic depictions of sex.
