Only shortly after I was 'awakened' and was briefed on the hellstorm going on around me was I whisked to Summoner training. Sasha and Minal dragged me into a state of the art arena.
Minal slammed her fist into the palm of her other hand, staring at me with an expression that gave off a 'pumped up serial killer' feeling. If such a feeling even exsisted, and someone could emit it.
Sasha tapped a set of numbers into a small phone like device, where the arena turned into a war zone before my very eyes.368Please respect copyright.PENANABJRV3lJZGY
"Welcome to the Silver Arena!" Sasha said with a smile, spreading her arms in a gesture directing my attention to the room around me. "This is where you'll spend most of your time until you reach Rank D. You're Rank E as of now, and don't worry, with your potential, you'll progress rather quickly. "
I looked at her in bewilderment. Sasha wasn’t quite on top of the whole explaining thing.
"She's not going to know everything right after you awaken her, dumbass."
I turned around to see a little boy, no older than 11, with bright red hair and a bandage over his nose. In the pocket of his cargo pants was something that looked like a Persona Evoker. Perhaps that was just my imagination though.
Minal sneered at the boy. "What are you doing here, Allister?" She said with a sharp tongue.
Allister snapped back at her. "Not any spy business, if that's the bullshit your thinking. I haven't talked to my sister since she snapped."
I watched the two bicker and squabble until Sasha finally got between them and broke the fight up.
"You two that is ENOUGH! Allister, introduce yourself." Sasha said, gesturing to me while looking at the little boy.
The redhead put his hands on his hips. "I'm Allister James, Grade B Monosummoner." He said, not removing his green eyed gaze from my face. It was a bit unnerving, actually.
"If you're such a genius, Allister, please explain the ranking system in the Summoner Society. " Minal said, crossing her arms.
"I will! " Allister began, before going into an explanation. "Summoners are divided by Rank, E and D are trainees, not allowed to go on any missions, and focus on honing their skills in the Silver Arena. After that, its C, B, and A rank. These ranks open up missions to help the populace in your territory, or the area you live, to put it simply. B ranks are able to do tougher missions than C ranks, and A ranks are allowed to do even tougher missions than that. Then there are S ranks, the 5 people who lead the Summoner Society, and have control over entire continents. The North America S rank is all the way in Alaska, and he's basically our boss. Kapeesh?"
I took a second for the lecture to sit in. It seemed fairly laid out, but I still had a few questions. By a few I meant two. "Okay, I have two questions." I began, basically stating what I had thought. "Sasha and Minal had said that I need to rise to A rank before I can challenge Meichi 'legally'. What does that mean?"
Allister crossed his arms and sighed. "Defeating my sister used to be a skirmish anyone could take part in, until people started dying left and right against her. Since our S rank is far to lazy to get his ass down here and take her out himself, instead he has changed Challenging Meichi into an A Rank mission, which no one has been able to complete. "
I cringed a bit. Meichi had killed that many people where they had to change challenging her into a mission for A Ranks, just for everyone's safety. That's saying a lot about her power, and it made me nervous.
"What's the other question?" Allister said, tapping his foot in impaitence.
I broke from my own thoughts to get the other question out. "What exactly is a Monosummoner?"
"The opposite of you." Minal said with a chuckle, but shut up when Sasha glared at her.
"A Monosummoner is a summoner with only one character, who they share a life force with. It's actually more of an alter ego than a character. " Allister explained, much shorter this time.
"Enough chit chat!" Minal said, clapping her hands. "Let's get some training done!"
A lump formed in my throat. The more and more I learned, the less I wanted to be in this situation.368Please respect copyright.PENANA5b1BzXTYCM
