Saturdays were always busy. The bar was packed from noon until after two in the morning. Mischa left around midnight. Theo and I closed. I slept in and came back to unlock the doors for the cleaning service. I spent my time doing paperwork and checking on shipments. I swiveled in my chair to take in the bay view.
Sundays were made for relaxing. I wasn’t much of a daytime person, not since leaving the construction work behind, but I fixed that when I met Laura. She was outgoing and liked being around people but was still kind of shy. I loved it and shouldn’t have left things unfinished. I wanted to give her time to sort out her feelings and the situation with her old man.
I left my office and was on my way down the hall but stopped mid-stride. Laura’s voice was a delicate melody. She was laughing at something Mischa said. Laura’s light brown hair was pinned up. She wore a modest gray dress, but it didn’t hide her lush curves. Diamond studs were in her ears, and the strappy heels on her feet drew my attention. Laura moved effortlessly in them.
I silently watched but imagined her legs wrapped around my waist as I took her relentlessly. I kept the feeling at bay but didn’t take my eyes off her.
“Mischa, thank you for taking the time to speak with me,” Laura offered her card. “Please feel free to call day or night. I’ll definitely be in this sinful place again even if your boss declines the free promotion.”
Mischa smiled. “I don’t think he’ll say no.”
“If my Manager is pleased then there’s no reason to reject your offer,” I said from a distance.
Laura turned at the sound of my voice, and her eyes sparkled in the afternoon light.
“Mr. Andrews, it’s good to see you again.”
I smiled at the formal greeting but kept it on level. “Miss Reynolds, it’s always a pleasure.”
Laura blushed a little but didn’t break eye contact.
“I was here last week and loved everything about the place, so I wanted to return with a zero-cost offer to promote Savage Paradise in my company’s brochure. I don’t want to take up your time, but please reach out if you’re interested,” Laura spun on those sexy heels and flashed another smile. “Mischa, it was good to meet you. I’ll return for that drink.”
“Cool, you’re welcome anytime.”
Laura glanced at me, “Thank you both.”
I couldn’t let her walk away, but I kept it professional. “Miss Reynolds, we can go over the details if you have time.”
She smiled, “Of course, my afternoon is free.”
I wanted a damn kiss, but I shook off the feeling and motioned for her to follow me.
The light tapping of her sexy heels were the only sound as we went down the hall.
I opened my office door. Laura walked past and her fragrance was a tempting tease.
“Rex, thanks for seeing me,” her voice was sensual.
Laura had no idea how much I missed her. My eyes swept over her, “So, you came here for business.”
“Yes, but I owe you an apology for barging in here last week.”
I closed my office door, and her breathing hitched when I walked past. I was about to sit at my desk, but Laura sat on the sofa and crossed her legs.
Damn, she looked good from every angle.
I sat in a chair to give her my undivided attention.
“Mr. Andrews,” she started to speak but stopped.
I understood since it was personal between us. I smiled to let her know it was fine. “You can use my first name.”
“Okay, Rex,” her blush was constant, but she was confident and direct in her approach. Laura hit key points, offered a sample brochure, and explained the promotion. She ended her presentation with a delicate sigh. “I love it here and guests staying at Amcor’s rentals will too.”
“Thanks for the compliments. Feel free to list Savage Paradise in your brochure and wherever else you’d like.”
Laura was surprised but regained her composure. “Thanks, and I’ll have a contract drawn up. It’s legal paperwork to make sure everyone is covered.”
I smiled, “Of course, so how have you been?”
“Oh, my week started off rough, but I’m making the best of it,” she pushed wisps of hair off her face.
“Laura, I never meant to hurt you. I’m sorry if I made you uncomfortable. I was out of line.”
“Thanks for saying it. I had no idea my Dad asked to see you. What he did wasn’t okay. I told him that,” her voice shook a little. “I didn’t return the money.”
“You should keep it for your heartache,” I said.
“I could, but the money’s not important,” she adjusted her position on the sofa to face me.
