Last night was great. Rex put my mind at ease. We had passionate sex, ate takeout, and talked like old times. I couldn’t believe I had his number all this time. I kept ignoring the missed calls since the person didn’t leave a message. It didn’t happen often, but I never called unfamiliar numbers back. It was cute that he was listening to my voice but awful because he didn’t leave a message. I fussed at him about it and everything else. I was on an emotional roller coaster and needed to vent. Rex listened to me, but the naughty things he did afterward blew my mind. Our night ended with a wonderful kiss.

My alarm’s melody broke into my thoughts. I left the bed to complete my routine. I was finished with breakfast an hour later and dressed in a silk blouse, knee-length skirt, and my favorite t-strap pumps. I grabbed a sweater to use in the office and was five minutes from walking out the door when my phone chimed.
It was Stacie. She never called this early. I tapped the screen. “Hi, is everything okay?”
“I should be asking you that question. I sent you fifty damn texts. You didn’t respond to them.”
I sighed, “I’m sorry. Yesterday was crazy.”
“Well, you need to tell me about it. The last text I got from you said I won’t believe this. What? I’ve been waiting all night to hear your answer.”
I scrolled through her series of texts. “You’re insane. Why would I do that sex thing you sent?”
“You could’ve been curious. I mean at least try it one time, and if you don’t like it then it’ll make for good conversation whenever you two need to spice things up. Rex loves you. He won’t complain.”
I laughed, “I can’t with you. “
“No, I can’t deal with you. I’m awake at a horrible hour trying to be a good friend. Get to it.”
“Rex is the CEO of Amcor Estates,” I blurted out the words and waited for Stacie to say something.
She sighed, “Girl, I love you, but it’s too early for this. I’m not in the mood for jokes.”
“I’m serious. I thought he was there about the promo for Savage Paradise. Things were confusing at first,” I started from the beginning and didn’t leave out any details. I was in the car and on my way to work by the time I finished talking. So, what do you think?”
Stacie was quiet, so I adjusted the volume to make sure she could hear me. “Hello, are you there?”
“Yeah, I’m speechless,” she replied.
“I was in shock too, believe me, but Rex apologized. He explained everything, and I almost passed out when he showed me his net worth. That was without his salary from Amcor. Dad’s money was an insult to him.”
“Well, damn, that explains why he didn’t spend any of it. My advice was to hook up with a co-worker, but you’re banging the boss.”
I laughed, “You’re insane. I don’t think Rex will tell anyone about our relationship, at least, not right away.”
“It’s his second day on the job, give him a chance to handle whatever with HR, but I don’t think he’ll keep your relationship a secret.”
I sighed, “Mr. Emerson said he should marry me, and I can be the CEO.”
“Aww, you two make a cute couple, but that’s not what you want.”
“It’s way too much responsibility. I’m getting used to meeting with the people who report to me.”
“I can imagine, and I hope you have sexy times at the office”
I blushed from thinking about my time on Rex’s desk at Savage Paradise. “We won’t be screwing around.”
“Why not? What will he do? Fire you?”
I laughed, “Are you serious?”
“Romance in the office and wild nights at Savage Paradise. You should be in a permanent state of bliss.”
“It’s so great,” I confessed. “I want things to work out.”
“Rex is crazy about you. Did you talk to Cameron?”
“Yes. He called after the time I told you about. Cameron said his actions were for my own good. Dad was worried at the time, so he wanted to make sure I wasn’t making a mistake with Rex, but it wasn’t any of his business.”
Stacie sighed, “It’s crazy he kept your phone and then didn’t tell you all this time, but there was chemistry between you and Cameron before you met Rex.”
“That’s true, but we never acted on it. Cameron seemed more interested in impressing my Dad than actually being with me, but we had things in common.”
“You were settling,” Stacie said without hesitating.
“Yes,” I admitted. “And it wasn’t fair to Cameron. He knows I’m back with Rex and the first thing he said was, what does your father think of this?”
Stacie laughed, “I didn’t expect that.”
“I did. I told him to take care and ended the call. That was a few nights ago. I haven’t heard from him since.”
“Okay, well, I’m heading back to bed. I need more downtime before I rise and shine. Text me.”
Stacie ended the call, and I arrived at work minutes later. 62Please respect copyright.PENANAhWpjD73aii
