I relaxed in the living room. Stacie left the bedroom in trendy shorts and a flirty top.
“You look cute. The car will be here soon,” I told her.
“Thanks.” Stacie grabbed her bag. “I’m ready to get this night started.”
We left the loft to chat near the entrance. Wild & Free was one of my favorite places because it was so serene at night. I took in the beauty around me. “I get why you love it here. The beach is incredible.”
“It’s crowded in the daytime,” Stacie said. “I’m grateful, but everything is perfect at night.”
The car arrived. We eased in and relaxed on the drive to Savage Paradise. We enjoyed the walk past tangled vines and vibrant flowers. The music pulsed in a sexy rhythm the second we stepped into the clearing.
Stacie sighed. “This is heaven. I’m sure of it.”
I agreed, “It takes my breath away every time I visit. Thanks for bringing me here the first time.”
“Don’t mention it, but I’m reserving the right to say I’m part of the reason you and Rex are back together.”
I laughed, “That’s fair because you are. Do you want to stay out here or relax at the bar?”
“We can start inside. I want to get a feel for the place again,” Stacie paused when a guy crossed our path.
He winked at her. She blushed and then shook her head. “Eye candy is everywhere. I’m loving it.”
I laughed, and we talked in hushed whispers on our way up the stone steps. We found open seats at the bar. Kayson came over.
“Hi, can I have a Blue Hawaiian please?” I asked.
“Of course, Beautiful, and what will your pretty friend have?” he glanced at Stacie. “I was heartbroken after seeing you last time.”
She teased him, “And why was that?”
“Because you were with someone, but it looks like he let you come out to play.”
Stacie blushed but gave Kayson her drink choice.
“I’ll make them dirty for you both,” he gave Stacie a heated look and then left to mix our drinks.
Stacie glanced at me. “He’s damn trouble. I can tell.”
I teased her, “Hmm, and you would know all about it.”
“Hush,” Stacie was about to fuss but something held her attention. I followed her gaze. Theo walked around the bar with an ice bucket. He dumped it and checked the shelves. He didn’t look in our direction, and that was good because Stacie was flustered and trying not to let it show.
“Hey, are you okay?” I asked.
“Yeah. I’m toning it down some.”
“Why? Teddy knows how fun you can be.”
Stacie sighed. “My crush on him is different than how I normally do things, you know that.”
“I do. But maybe you could say hello.”
“And interrupt his night? No. I’ll play it cool.”
I smiled. “Okay, but when you get tired of pretending, please be your sassy self. Teddy will like it.”
“Maybe,” she bit her lip. “I’ll let things happen naturally.”
Kayson returned with our drinks. Stacie was ready for his flirting. She thanked him and said something to make him blush. He laughed, “Damn, I’m scared of you.”
“You should be,” Stacie winked at him and sipped her drink. We chatted and relaxed until it was time to order another round.
I signaled to Kayson. He nodded and kept taking orders. “Are you ready to hang out on the beach?”
“Yes, it’ll feel good to relax somewhere quiet,” Stacie glanced in Theo’s direction, but he didn’t look her way.
I was about to suggest she say hi, but movement at the entrance drew my attention.
Rex walked into Savage Paradise. He glanced in my direction and his eyes locked on mine. My heart raced, and I couldn’t take my eyes off him. I was used to seeing him in a suit and tie. It was attractive, and my fantasies ran wild at the office, but his fitted tee, denims, and distressed boots was still the sexiest look.
Rex winked to show he approved of being checked out. He made his rounds and then stopped to talk with Mischa. They headed down the hall toward his office. I turned my attention to the bar. A guy wanted Stacie’s attention, but she wasn’t showing interest. Kayson returned with our drinks.
The guy spoke up, “I’ll pay for those.”
“Their tab is taken care of,” Kayson said with ease. “Can I get you something though?”
The guy asked for a beer but didn’t stop looking at Stacie. “What’s your name?”
“Stacie, and thanks for the offer.”
We left the bar. “Hey, I didn’t tell you my name,” he spoke loudly over the music.
Stacie glanced over her shoulder, “I didn’t ask.”
I laughed, “He definitely wanted your attention.”
“He was cute, but I wasn’t interested. Teddy saw the whole thing. I don’t want him to think I’m hooking up with every guy who comes my way.”
“When will you talk to him?” I asked.
“I’ll wait until he approaches me.”
“Oh good, play hard to get, that’ll be fun.”
Stacie laughed, “Hush, now where are we going?”
“The entrance to the private beach is near Rex’s office,” I explained as we walked down the hall. “I’ll stop in for a second.”
“Okay. I’ll take your drink,” Stacie motioned to it.
“Thanks, so there’s the entrance,” I pointed to the door. No one should be out there since it’s restricted, but I’ll be able to see you from the office.”
“Stop worrying and spend time with your boyfriend.”
“I’ll be a few minutes,” I promised.
Stacie kept our drinks balanced as she pushed opened the door. “Oh, it’s incredible!”
I laughed, “I said that the first time I saw it.”
“Take all the time you need,” Stacie left.
I walked to Rex’s office and stepped in. The space was quiet with low lighting. Rex was standing at the glass panes but didn’t look in my direction. “Princess, what do you want?”
“Don’t call me that.”
Rex glanced over his shoulder. “Come here.”
I sighed, “I shouldn’t since you’re making fun of me.”
“I’ll make it up to you,” he replied with ease.
“I want you to right this second,” I playfully demanded on my way to where he was.
Rex kissed my hand and placed it on his chest, “I’m sorry for teasing you.”
“Are you?” I pressed my face against his back.
Rex gently broke my embrace and turned around to face me. There was a spark of desire in his heated gaze. “Beautiful, I like when you’re worked up.”
I didn’t get a chance to fuss. Rex claimed my mouth in a possessive kiss. I moaned from the intensity, and my chest heaved by the time he pulled back. Rex traced my mouth with his thumb. “What did you want to say?”
“I’ll be on the private beach with Stacie. I hope that’s okay. She’s already out there.” I stepped closer to the glass panes to make sure Stacie was alright.
“Theo will make sure you two aren’t bothered.”
“Thanks. I’ll see you later,” I was about to leave when Rex caged me in.
“Don’t be naughty,” I teased him.
“I’m not. Can I have a kiss before you go, please?”
I gave him the sweetest kiss and then steamy moments happened right afterward. I didn’t think our relationship could be better than the first time, but I was so wrong.
