Sim started to cough violently as water came flying out from his mouth. He rolled over and could feel more water seeming to move through his body on its own before it came out of his mouth, causing him to cough more and more.
He looked over to see the man from the building as well as Lawton sitting up and rubbing his head. All three men were soaking wet and wearing drenched clothing sticking to their bodies.
Sim looked over to see they were all laying in sand by a large body of water. Sim coughed up even more water and tried to get to his feet.
“No wait, you must rest for now.” The man said.17Please respect copyright.PENANARYXhbl5jFm
“Thank you, but I really need…” Sim said before he quickly felt himself get light headed and fall over.
Lawton very slowly moved over as they both sat next to each other. The man was standing in front of them looking around.
“Where are we?” Lawton asked.
“Dunkirk, New York.” The man quickly replied.
“How’d we get here?” Lawton asked.
“Well, wherever we were, I flooded it and we ended up here. I still haven’t been able to figure out where it was though.” He replied.17Please respect copyright.PENANAjTnMKHFiLv
All three men looked around to see a small neighborhood and a single concrete office building.
“Wait…how did you flood that place?” Sim asked.
The man sighed and looked around carefully for a bit, just to see if anybody was watching. It was quite early in the morning, not a lot of movement going on. He then turned around to face the body of water behind him. Without moving any part of his body, the water suddenly rose up into a pillar that then quickly moved and seperated, condensing down into a ball that floated over and around the man. He then moved his hands as the ball changed to a long line that proceeded to move around his body, following his arms as he began to move his entire body in almost a dance, the water following along before slowly moving to his hand. He stuck out one finger as the ball began to balance on it. He took his other hand to spin it like a basketball on his finger. The ball stayed together, not letting any drops fly off as the man just smiled at Lawton and Sim. They were both staring in shock and amazement until the man took his free hand, tingling his fingers around until the ball slowly flattened down into a disc of water. He then grabbed hold of it and threw it like a frisbee to join the rest of the large body.17Please respect copyright.PENANA0vdCKcdnXx
“What the fuck?” Sim asked, still in shock.
“Impressive.” Polymon said.
“Wait, hold on…so you…can control water?” Lawton asked.
The man laughed.
“It’s a bit more complicated than that.” He said.
He noticed a few people walking from the small neighborhood. Multiple families walked as the man grew nervous.
“Well can you…” Lawton started before seeing the man’s demeanor change. He turned around to see the families walking over and quickly got to his feet. Sim slowly got to his own feet as the three faced them.
“Well, it appears that we have some new guests.” A mother said as she smiled, holding a cup of coffee in her hand as she only wore a bathrobe.
The man looked confused and stood in front of Sim and Lawton.
“Who are you?” The man asked.
The mother smiled and waved her hand.
The sand in between them suddenly shifted and lifted up, creating a massive and detailed sand castle within seconds.
“You’ll fit right in.” She said with a smile.
Sim and Lawton shared a confused glance as the man suddenly smiled and began to cry.17Please respect copyright.PENANALYORZckGHC
“This is one of the safe havens?” The man asked.
“Yes.” She replied with a warm smile.17Please respect copyright.PENANARxCUxVpvno
The man started to cry tears of joy and covered his mouth with both of his hands. Sim and Lawton were still looking at each other confused.
“Are these two with you?” She asked.
The man turned and quickly looked back.17Please respect copyright.PENANAMRkzMcYjUv
“They helped me escape torture. They are not enemies.” He said.
The mother had a skeptical look, but then smiled and motioned for them.
Lawton walked over and suddenly started to bow to her.
“What are you doing?” She asked.
“I don’t know, wasn’t sure what I’m supposed to do.” Lawton replied.
She just softly laughed and held her hand out. Lawton took it and stood up, shaking it nervously.
“Ask what’s happening.” Polymon said inside Sim’s head.
“So um…what is this place?” Sim asked.
The woman looked over and observed Sim.
“You are not one of us are you?” She asked.
Sim looked around confused.17Please respect copyright.PENANA0ts2qevCTM
“I just want to know what is happening.” Sim said.
The woman smiled and suddenly turned, walking towards the small neighborhood. The man quickly followed as Lawton and Sim shared another glance before following, the other people going to their homes to start their days.

Once they were inside the woman’s home, she made a cup of coffee for Lawton, Sim, and the mystery man.
“What are your names?” She asked.
“My name is Officer James Lawton.” Lawton said, but the woman immediately looked nervous.17Please respect copyright.PENANAkcg04WBH96
“I’m Sim.” Sim said quickly.
“My name is Julias.” The man said, quickly drinking the coffee.
“A police officer?” She immediately ignored the rest and stared at Lawton.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to arrest anybody or do anything.” He said.
She kept staring at him and drank more of her coffee.
“If he tries anything I’ll beat him up, now please tell us what is happening because I am lost.” Sim quickly said before drinking the entire cup in one go.
The woman sighed and sat her mug down softly.
“We are called Anomalies. People who have gifts and ‘powers’ as people say. We have been living alongside humanity since the very beginning, but the evil acts that Humans commit sent us into hiding.” She said.
“Wait, so you have been living alongside humans forever? Then why is there nothing about you anywhere?” Lawton asked.
She gave him another dirty look and sighed.
“I can only tell you what my parents told me. After the nuclear bombs were dropped on Japan to end World War Two, Anomalies realized that Humans were violent creatures. They held peaceful protests but were hosed and beaten. They were told to not fight back, yet some did. Humans banished us into hiding and erased us from all history. It’s as if we never existed.” She said.
“So you have been hiding since World War Two?” Lawton asked.
“Not me personally. I was born in the seventies.” She replied.
Lawton nearly spit out his coffee.
“Wait…but you look…”
“Young for my age?” She interrupted.
“Anomalies age slowly. Isn’t that right?” She asked as she looked over at Julias.
“Right. I’m in my forties.” He responded.
Sim looked over at him.
“You look like you should be in college.” Sim replied.
“Exactly.” Julias quickly replied back.
“So, who are you?” She looked at Sim curiously.
“I believe he is one of us.” Julias said.
Sim shook his head side to side.
“Definitely not.” He said.
The woman opened a drawer and looked at Sim.
“Give me your hand.” She said.
Sim looked confused and held his hand out. Suddenly, she pulled out a knife and slashed the back of his hand, causing him to try and pull it back, but she gripped it and stared at his cut.
“Ah! What the fuck?” Sim shouted.
Polymon quickly made the cut seal, leaving his hand as good as new. She kept staring.
“Well, you have the healing ability as one of us.” She said.
“I’m not an Anomaly or whatever the fuck.” Sim replied.
“Yet you were kidnapped and held hostage.” Julias said.
“I was too and I know I’m human.” Lawton interjected.
The woman continued to give him a dirty look.
“I’m not an Anomaly and I’m barely human.” Sim replied, fiddling with his empty cup.
“Can you get him more coffee please?” The woman looked at Julias.
He nodded and looked at the coffee machine on the counter. There was still half a pot left as he concentrated, causing the liquid to slowly move out of the pot, but much less seamlessly as the water earlier. Julias kept concentrating and even began to sweat and grit his teeth as he kept focusing. The coffee floating in the air began to move more erratically and ripple before it suddenly dropped straight to the ground. Julias gasped for air and rubbed his sweaty face. The woman sighed and grabbed a towel, laying it over the spot and standing on it.
“Wait. You can do all that crazy stuff with water but you can’t move a little bit of coffee?” Lawton asked.
“My gift is that I can manipulate hydrogen. Water is easy to manipulate because of the fact it's more hydrogen than anything else. Whenever the water is mixed with other things like coffee, tea, or pollution, it becomes harder to control as I am essentially moving more things.”
Julias stomach loudly growled as he looked at the woman.
“Grab whatever food you like.” She replied.
Julias quickly got up and opened a cabinet. It was overflowing with food, but he then looked in every other cabinet. Mountains of food poured out before he went to the refrigerator, which was also overflowing. He grabbed a bowl of leftover salad and quickly began to eat it.
“That’s a lot of food.” Lawton said.17Please respect copyright.PENANAuxpjPbp244
“Whenever we use our gifts, it uses energy. We must eat enough food to keep up with it.” She said.
“Like an engine?” Lawton asked.
“Sure.” She quickly and dryly replied.
“What happens if you don’t eat enough?” Sim asked.
“It’s not a very simple answer. As we use our gifts, our metabolism speeds up, going through whatever food we ate. Once it digests all of the food, it begins to look for whatever else it can use. It will then start to eat away at your muscle and fat. Once that is gone, it begins to burn and use your internal organs. If you continue to use your powers, you will be eaten inside out and left as nothing more than a skeleton covered in a thin layer of skin.” She said.
“Sounds painful.” Sim replied.
“That is why we try to only use our gifts whenever necessary,” She gave a sharp look to Julias.
“But some people do not stick to that lesson.” She said, drinking the rest of her coffee.
Sim stared down at the kitchen island.
“This is a lot to keep up with.” Polymon said inside of his head.
“You’re telling me.” Sim whispered to himself.
“Well, we think it’s time for us to get going.” Lawton said as he stood up.
The woman stood firm and stared at him.
“You must not tell anyone about this, understood?” Her voice was suddenly deathly serious.
“Yes…I swear it.” Lawton replied.
Sim slowly stood up.17Please respect copyright.PENANAdOqr7rWVnk
“You have our word.” Sim replied.17Please respect copyright.PENANAowypwqyGr6
“Oh no, you can’t leave if you are one of us.” She said to Sim.
Lawton looked at him with an unsure look.
“I’m not staying here. I’m not one of you.” He said.
He went to walk when a wooden chair suddenly flew across the room and shattered across his back. As the chair broke, the broken pieces leaked sand onto the floor.
“Ow! Fuck!” Sim shouted as he turned to look at her. Lawton backed out of the way.17Please respect copyright.PENANA6TYqtPoBt4
“I can handle her.” Polymon said inside of his head.17Please respect copyright.PENANAJl6MhuHGoP
“No. No fighting.” Sim muttered to himself.
The woman looked curious as she noticed Sim’s lips only just move around.17Please respect copyright.PENANARKJiNyPF4X
“You take her and you die.” Polymon said.
“I said no.” Sim muttered to himself a bit louder.
“Are you talking to yourself?” She asked.
“Why’d you throw the chair at me?” Sim asked with a serious tone.
“You can not leave. You must stay here to see if you are truly an Anomaly.” She said.
“Well I’m not.” He said through gritted teeth.
The woman’s eyes very subtly glowed a light brown color as another wooden chair flew, but Polymon took over just in time to catch it. The red eyes stared intensly at the woman as Lawton stumbled back in fear, falling backwards over the couch and hitting his head on the coffee table. The woman quickly turned to notice and tried to run over, but Polymon threw the chair at her. She stopped in place and made the chair stop in midair, but then Polymon’s fist came through, shattering the wood before hitting her in the face. She dropped her mug and fell backwards, sand being mixed in with both the wood of the chair and ceramic of the mug. She got to her feet when Polymon suddenly kicked her hard in her ribs.
Julias quickly ran over and grabbed Polymon’s arm, but Polymon grabbed him by his throat and lifted him off the ground before slamming him hard onto the kitchen island. Julias screamed out in pain as Polymon turned back to the woman.
Her eyes glowed again as her windows suddenly shattered into hundreds of sharp and thin pieces, all of which flew and stabbed into Polymon’s skin. He shouted as the woman held her stomach. She was weak and slow to get to her feet and slowly made her way to some food. Polymon grabbed her by her hair as the glass all fell out of his body and all of his cuts quickly sealed. Polymon pulled her back as her glass coffee pot came flying back, shattering over his head and causing him to stumble back.17Please respect copyright.PENANArRYBgI5KP2
Julias looked over at the sink as water began to pour out before rushing to Polymon, forcing itself into his nose and mouth, drowning him as he stood. The woman struggled to her feet and grabbed Julias.
“No. Don’t kill him.” She said.
Julias looked surprised but then forced the water to come back out of his body as he coughed violently. Polymon gritted his teeth harder.
“Polymon, enough.” Sim said as he tried to take back over.
Polymon punched the floor, creating a hole as the woman jumped. Polymon looked up at her as his eyes began to glow a brighter red.
Her eyes went wide.
“You..you aren’t one of…us.” Her voice sounded tired and weak as she slowly moved back. Polymon got to his feet as Julias finally rolled off the kitchen island. Polymon seemed to almost teleport until he was face to face with Julias. He grabbed him by his throat and stared with rage in his eyes.
“Please…” Julias said while being choked.
Polymon squeezed hard enough the sound of Julias’ neck being crushed filled the air.
The woman was letting out pained breaths as she waved her hand again.
A wooden beam from her ceiling broke and shot straight down like a spear, stabbing through Polymon’s head and running down his spine. Polymon gasped and let go of Julias as she was unable to stand. Her body looked thinner as she coughed. Julias was struggling to move until his neck was visibly moving around, like the bones underneath were snapping back into place. He shook his hands around to make sure he could control them before running to the cabinet, grabbing a bag of chips and throwing them to the woman.17Please respect copyright.PENANAyn413qIPxf
“You need to eat.” He said before running over and ripping the bag open for her. He shoved a few into her mouth as she stared forward.
Polymon’s eyes were still glowing bright red, but then his arms suddenly moved up. She froze in shock and fear as Polymon grabbed the large wooden spear lodged in his head and body. He pulled it out very slowly as he maintained eye contact with her. He finally pulled out the entire large piece of wood and threw it to the side. Julias turned and also froze in shock as Polymon’s massive hole in his head quickly closed.
“What are you?” Julias said with shaky breath.
“I am a fucking Demon.” Polymon replied.
