The small city sat quiet.
The Xonvirians wearing brown were curled into balls on the ground, blending in with the dark and rocky ground. The brown robes made them appear more like large stones, but the holes revealing their skin broke the illusion.
Polarice was walking slowly, wielding his blades in either hand as drops of brown blood created a trail leading from the mountain to the city.
A trail of death pointing towards the city.
The Xonvirians hid as best they could, either doing whatever they could to blend in or hiding inside of their homes.
Polarice stood at the edge of the small city, looking around at the buildings directly around him.
Curtains and blinds being shut tightly and quickly so Polarice was unable to see inside.
Polarice’s black eye was twitching while his white one stared stoic and blank.
“Come on out. I just want to talk.” Polarice said in a loud but sly tone. He sounded like the soft spoken devil himself with a slow and deliberate tongue.
His black eye was twitching more rapidly while his white one continued to stare with no thought behind the opaque orb.
Polarice was gripping his two blades, soaked in brown liquid dropping off and onto the ground of the alien world.
Polarice’s head was slowly moving from one side to the other, staring over the city in front of him as his lips subtly shivered, mouthing words that had no sound.
But as Polarice stood, his body seemed to be fighting itself.
His skin was shaking and shivering, stained by blood of two different alien species.
Polarice took a very long and deep breath in before letting out a breath out for the same amount of time.
As Polarice stood, he began to cry.
He whined.
He dropped his blades and fell to his knees.
He was only just a young boy.
And he had already wiped out an entire species.
His brain was screaming inside of his head.
His mind had been manipulated, the voices still there and trying to make him continue on this path he didn’t want to take.
Polarice cried to himself, reaching up and wiping his face with his hands covered in dried blood and dust.
Polarice looked down at his hands.
The smooth, light blue skin stained by the murky brown.
Polarice began to aggressively scratch his own hands and arms, but nothing got the blood out.
He was scratching harder and harder, his skin becoming irritated and changing color even more.
Finally, his skin began to slice open and his own blood began to pour out.
It didn’t wash away the stained, dried blood already there, but it did change the color.
Polarice cried as he only continued to scratch, his fingertips and fingernails becoming ruined from the forceful clawing at himself.
“I just want to be okay…” Polarice whispered to himself as he cried even harder, his body moving forward and letting his face press into the dirty ground.
But as Polarice laid on the ground, he could feel the presence.
He could feel that it was close.
The entire planet was suddenly engulfed in a deep, painfully vibrant red hue.
Polarice stared at his hands as he saw the bright blue covered in other colors be washed out by the red light.
Polarice very slowly began to look up from his knees.
As he looked up from the alien world.
He tried to stare out into space.
But instead…
He was staring directly into The Red.
The Red void that sucked all of the surrounding light and space into it.
A pulsing, throbbing red star that sat silently over the world.
Polarice continued to stare directly into the vibrant light, his black eye wide and accepting while his white eye was continuing to cry, the tears moving upward across his face before being pulled off of his skin and racing quickly into the Red, disappearing into the spherical void.
As Polarice stared, his anger and rage only grew more and more. He stood back to his feet, gripping his blades tight enough to make his veins nearly burst through his skin.
"YOU STOLE MY HOME FROM ME!"
Polarice screamed, jumping as high as he could. The gravity began to pull him close as The Red just seemed to sit aimlessly above the world.
The Red stared back with no care or thought, almost as if it wasn't even paying attention to Polarice.
He just looked like a small speck as he grew closer and closer.
The world underneath Polarice began to be ripped apart, massive chunks of the outer crust being ripped from its resting place and flying straight into the sky.
The buildings were quickly torn apart with ease, as if they were made of cardboard rather than rock or metal.
The citizens were all screaming in agony and fear.
Parents holding their children as tightly as they could, hoping to keep them safe.
Lovers sharing one last embrace with each other.
Crying.
Screaming.
All disappearing into The Red.
People being ripped away from their loved ones. Hands gripping each other as tightly as they can, hoping to stay together in their final moments.
The hands and arms would be trying to hold each other with all of their strength, before being ripped off of their bodies with violent force, sending blood flying in the air that got sucked up along with everything else, disappearing into the endless monster known only as The Red.
Polarice’s tears were running upward and off of his face as he stared into the red void, full of violent anger.
“I WILL END YOU!” Polarice screamed.
His body grew closer as the planet below him disappeared, turning into nothing but piles of dust and rock being swallowed up.
Polarice was consumed by The Red.
Everywhere he looked was a black/red void.
Nothing but pulsing color around him.
He floated aimlessly, spinning to see all around him.
Nothing but the color.
The Red.
He was in the core of this strange…thing.
Yet he was alive.
All around him, the rubble and corpses were consumed and turned to dust, being digested by this seemingly living star.
Polarice continued to stay alive, observing everything happening around him.
Polarice turned and stared at one side of the void.
The red began to shine brighter and brighter.
He was overcome with a painfully bright red light.
A sea of red with a single black dot in the center.
It was as if an eye was staring at him.
An eye the size of a star staring at the small, inconsequential speck that was Polarice.
Polarice continued to stare into The Red.
“I…will…end…you…” Polarice gritted through pained teeth.
Polarice didn’t know what was happening, but he felt his body being overwhelmed by energy.
A strange, powerful energy that was corrupting his soul and his mind.
Polarice screamed violently loud with pained tones of suffering.
His eyes were rolling back as his body began to shake and spasm, his veins trying to burst through his skin all over his body.
The Red only watched on, staring as an overbearing source of endless power.
But endless power always corrupts.
