Its magister returns against acting evil
The immortal amaranth blooms against
Of divided ruling that long commenced
Yearning for the glory old
Yearning its master’s scroll

Bells on windows and doors and cats yelping out around kitchen wares scolds the evening chirping away. There are barely any candles or torches lighting the streets. Pale fruits and blackened vegetables line the market stalls. Kinguin Capital outside market, such that it is outside the three inner walls. Such it had been decorated with flowers and bushes now there are bodies on display, the torch fires are caged and there are a lot more homeless lying around and staring…Ober closes his window, seeing differently from the jealous eyes of the vendors and citizens.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAK64tgK1gCI
Gray asphalt rocks the weeping carriage, as it hears the wails of a baby being scolded by a fanatic who knocks and begs for the two men inside. Poor girl is asking to return her mother but the mother herself does not want her. Peacock sits proudly unlike Isaac who puts on his hood and uncomfortably slumps forwards. Homeless eyes watching him before one comes up and suddenly sits next to the boy, boldly gesturing an open hand in front of the boy—asking for money. Some try to block their path, kneeling and looking like they are begging to be stomped by Merry and Bell which the horses did and screams add to the décor of their return.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAo3Lzz3oQ0a
Here they come for the inner walls—outer, with a line of citizens, traders, and those who seem like adventurers trying to pass and get into the capital. A gatekeeper with scars with a weather-beaten face. Even a group of travelling jesters and bards are threatened for trying to make him smile. His deep and gravelly voice while having a gruff exterior begs no one to mess with him. Until it is their turn and Merry and Bell glare down at this pathetic gatekeeper. Still, he looks up, clinking his armor and eyes cleaving the golden carriage. Walking around with heavy footsteps, inspecting the sides, back, under, wheels, and back to the front with the sneezing black horses.

“What business do you have in Kinguin good sire?” He asks politely, differently so from the previous carriages and people
172Please respect copyright.PENANAX9aMbFGFZj
“To speak with the High Princesses of Kinguin,” Isaac says, “My master, and Lord Magister of Cyndoryll asks for their audience.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAR4FSTBmXnj
“Lord Magister…?” He does not look like he had heard of the title before, “What does a lord magister do compared to regular magisters?” Yeap, he does not know a thing nor probably know about Ober.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAAkUWURrWnM
Which is a problem for Isaac who wants to stop being eyed as if he is a piece of floating garbage. “The Lord Magister…” He tries to recall throughout his road with Ober, “is an Arcane Law Enforcer of Cyndoryll—managing the border barriers and addressing any problem or request to the barriers of the other kingdoms. They are seen as royal Advisers whose loyalty is for anyone, and they are bestowed with nobility and takes up the task of high chancellor in governing a province.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAfT2TWBVcHv
“Okay” His blank stare does not look like he listened, “Who is this Lord Magister who wants to meet the Gracious Princesses.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAeRTs6ftViA
There is only one Lord Magister in a continent and he truly does not know. Isaac carefully “Lord Magister Ober Vanderhawk!”, making sure his bafflement does not make his tone sound demeaning.
172Please respect copyright.PENANArQ7HXYAwQg
“I have never heard of this Ober Vanderhawk. May I request a proof of identity good sire?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAVPUoP7sdxu
Is the golden carriage and two strange horses not proof enough for him? Maybe it is for his attitude whether to be polite or not but what is this proof of identity he is asking? Isaac slides the wooden panel and hushly asks the Lord Magister for this proof of identity which Ober finds himself wide eyed, but nonetheless unhooking the ruby heart on his silver beaded necklace and giving it to Isaac. The boy then shows it to the gatekeeper.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAIowddBSBlu
“What is this supposed to be?” He tries to take it from the boy but a spark warns his calloused fingers away. “Gaah—wretched magic. Are you freaks?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAGWnPaxXpCY
How did they suddenly get called a freak for showing proof, “This is the Lord Magister’s ruby heart given by the late Noirs who ruled the entire—"
172Please respect copyright.PENANAIbUMw62S4D
“---Do not lie about any Houses I have never heard before. And the entirety of Cyndoryll? What a load of bullcrap.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAK61mD9jWXb
It is true though! This gatekeeper, though imposing, slowly infuriates the boy. Even more when he decided if he can look inside. The absolute mistrust on his eyes! What was the point of showing him the ruby? Or him looking around? He does so the second time before Isaac steps down to knock at the carriage’s door. That which he points out the three-leaf emblem of Kinguin’s cathedral. Isaac says that it was authentically engraved by the greatest wood craftsman
172Please respect copyright.PENANAc4NRx7PeOO
“Then get that wood craftsman for me” He orders which Isaac says no, “Get him or I will not let you in. I need his judgement.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAEBONfitxUk
“He is dead already, this carriage was made befo—” He gets interrupted again,
172Please respect copyright.PENANAPWubPiVXU1
“Stop with the lies, I need that craftsman’s papers dead or alive.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAgWJlpErZS5
Isaac has had enough and calls out to the Lord Magister like a child throwing a tantrum. The carriage door opens and his filthy shoes even dares to step in and see first the Peacock—who is looking at him, menacingly. And the bald old man in purple robes, with a staff by his side.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAfQ7cLKQUlV
“Can I help you over a cup of tea?” Ober says charmingly
172Please respect copyright.PENANAnCaawHhQn1
Which the gatekeeper took as an invite, shoving Peacock to the side and sitting, “You are a Lord Magister?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAsDJK79giMx
“That I am” Ober nods calmly, and trying hard not to mention the gatekeeper’s muddy shoes on his carpet.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA2rbLWf4fxI
“What do you do?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANABHzrkgvEby
Ridiculous, absolutely ridiculous, and Ober simply repeats what Isaac said, “I am an Arcane Law Enforcer of Cyndoryll—taking responsibility for the entire continental border and barriers. I am a royal Adviser to any nobility and I do not favor any sides I am a high chancellor and I govern the province of Friðu”
172Please respect copyright.PENANACsA3zimIkz
“I’ve never heard of that province nor your title before good sire but I am sure it is great.” This man must be stupid. Stupidly good enough to be highly suspicious at anyone, even asking Peacock if the bird is an offering,
172Please respect copyright.PENANAbS2PG7eXZY
“I am not” Peacock says, completely ruining when Ober was going to say yes and get this over with,
172Please respect copyright.PENANA3iANqtYwQi
“You speak!? Monster!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAFPzYmE9W8X
“I AM NOT!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAB8CWG1fWwd
“He is my pet” Ober says, “And I plan to gift it to the princesses”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAVts2iKowp6
“To whom?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAkUeP2PlzMo
“The Princesses? Does it matter if you would know who I will be giving it to?” Slowly rattling his tongue without noticing it himself,
172Please respect copyright.PENANAL1PCyGlPCJ
“Yes, I am a gatekeeper and I should know everything to those who would come in or out of our great capital.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAnLZizV2E7M
Such pride that he does not even know the lord magister’s agitation.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA6lNU6jMu9O
“I grew up in Kinguin” He starts, “And I have never been stopped by this kind of inspection.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAgEXiyhfU3k
“Well thank you, now you have.” The gatekeeper stands, looking down at Ober, “Your proof of identity?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAqJBGTS7nn9
This is really starting to drag on and Isaac sighs, handing back the ruby heart that Ober gave to the boy. “This”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAeWQss85W5t
“What is that?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA4lwlKlJGkW
“You do not know?” Clearly losing his patience, his bald head bulging out nerves,
172Please respect copyright.PENANAYhsV60uwhT
“Why should I know?” Acting smart and important
172Please respect copyright.PENANAbNpJwtkh0u
And Ober has had enough, flinging his finger for the man to be pushed out by an unseen force.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAQxcSFbXcQz
“R—resisting inspection and assault on a gatekeeper.” He grunts, rising himself from the muddy ground, with a wicked smile, “You, will be put to prison. And your possessions, will be handed over to the infantry.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA0TkYoSdKtZ
The absolute shock on the people in line before Ober, which the lord Magister steps out with his staff and saying, “You need proof that I am a lord magister right?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAG8UfBvQ4oM
“What good does it do to you now when you are already a criminal! Hehe, Guards!” He calls but then Ober strikes the ground the earth deep under them rumbles, “Magic in the capital is prohibited you know”
172Please respect copyright.PENANADGue1HqZBO
Then Ober steps out of the wall’s shadow, far until the torch fires leave him and the moonlight embraces his open chest. Just as the gatekeeper tries to pull on Isaac’s cloak, yelling at the boy to get out, Merry and Bell stomps their hooves and causes the gatekeeper to stumble back.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA9JbspdoFIP
Some of the merchants beside Ober relates to their situation, saying that the gatekeeper is not actually a gatekeeper but a robber who always take his chances in getting what he wants, “And he has been getting them. We tried to ask the high princesses but our requests are not heeded yet.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAtPSL4eTgeO
“Then let me” Ober says, opening his arms before uttering silent words and striking the ground with his staff.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAABHgI6a04W
Everyone looks at the old man and from where his staff struck pulses out a light that reveals a three-layered dome around the capital. “You need proof?” Ober yells to the gatekeeper whose eyes have grown wild and broken teeth gritting, “Have it” twirling the staff above his head before sweeping it to the ground, the barriers bend and changes its shape.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA58ZpjAnuDq
Hooded magicians come out of their towers and down to look at the commotion, immediately recognizing the Lord Magister and greeting him with confusion. “Ask your gatekeeper who wasted my precious time” Ober says with gritted anger before cracking and shattering the third outer barrier.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA75Iiwgumoe
Piercing crackling so loud that sounds like a giant glass from heaven fell on top of the capital. “My patience has no time for being intensively checked by an ignorant like him”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAZWOlPUhWmd
With that, the magicians and captains who knows Ober asks their Lord Magister to go inside. The gatekeeper being severely scolded, punched, and kicked by his seniors.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAjjzT3krupw
“We deeply apologize for his attitude Lord Magister but the barrier…” The magicians mention with worry, “The high princesses might take it as a sign of war…”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAMAvaDDRXiZ
“I will be heading up to Kinguin castle because I will have an audience with them.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAfdZtbgyFTK
“But the barrier…”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA580ZHUR8AW
“I’m sure Kinguin has grown its magicians, how about try recreating it?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANANzwgCMeCqa
“B-but—”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAwaRfDpLQCf
“Waste my time again and I might just retract all of Kinguin’s barriers”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAQDPG7zGa8w
“Please don’t great Lord Magister! We really, really apologize for angering you and we will not hold onto you any longer.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAmJZR7tmpsS
And Ober nods at that before walking back into his carriage. Merry and Bell once again on a pace that stomps anyone who gets in their way. Passing down the dark main street, with the moon riding their backs. Compared to the outside market, the inner market greets them with the pink air and smoke of brothels to their right and restaurants to their left. They pass by the shops, smithery, and sites the lord magister has to visit.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA3QsFx24vww
“Ah~ home is where I find these wretched untouchables~” words the Peacock who is trying to calm the fuming old man. “The foul odors in the air and muddy disgusting faces keep ourselves high on the heads and remind us of how much God has favored our kingdom. He made it so classified and beautifully organized and appealing.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAuIxdJEPHwt
“This divide…” Ober says, looking out the window, seeing that there are little to no light around the second plateau with a glittering miss at the highest--third plateau. “This was around in the last century, yes. But I see that it got worse.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA3mbFLwGWcP
“Well, even if you see it that way lord magister~ They manage to keep their words and deliver their promise of a peaceful divide. All their promises for the kingdom are being checked out by them and everyone is satisfied”
172Please respect copyright.PENANADItFVufm8Q
“Peaceful inequality,”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAY3w0SwjvJJ
“Lord magister, let us refrain from using that word because our kingdom is clearly a peaceful division. Unlike the rabbling jarls and kings of the other kingdoms. Now they, have what I call inequality and simply a rubbish government system.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAsfNELsNhoz
“And you agree with how the princesses are acting now on Kinguin?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA0GyDL1mUph
“Yes so! Kinguin has never been this peaceful and alive since ever!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAWebVEiNPuW
“So, you are a feet kisser”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAHfr3CV52XU
“Now maybe a feet pecker!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAii34ZV0kFy
An angry ball of paper flies and bounces off Isaac’s restful nap. “H-Hey!” The boy calls out at who among the number of housewives and children throwing balls of crumpled from their greasy windows. The cloudy sky promising his revenge, before he looks down to read what is written. A newspaper that reads about the Lord magister—Bounty Ten Million Gold Stratas “LORD MAGISTER“ Bringing in the crumpled mess straight into the wooden panel.
172Please respect copyright.PENANALRVHYX1Vkt
Wares hawk like war drums and the occasionally screaming, tears, and breaking of glass and argument rocks Ober’s focus, having him read the paper not twice but thrice. “Peaceful my ass”
172Please respect copyright.PENANATwbIAYUTGw
Peacock says nothing after having a glimpse of what the paper is all about. Looking away and perching on the window ledge.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAingPDZ3m6Q
“Why would anyone want to put out a bounty on you, Lord Magister?” Isaac asks, a sweat sliding down the side of his face as the torch fires warmth starts to burn.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAek1Ykcr9eV
“There is only one person who is desperately trying to stop me”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAJKHK3nyQIQ
“High Princess Giza…but why?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANARWhS1fwUol
“The High Princess Giza has nothing to do with that,” Says Peacock, “Clearly you did not read the hunters guild notice below. So clearly that paper is coming from them.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAHICboUoHfs
But Ober knows that there are times when the Hunters guild will put up a bounty at a price. Ten million stratas on his gold stratas sounds like anyone can be after him. He quickly closes the window at seeing infantry soldiers drinking and eyeing the carriage.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAbwnfubCLvW
A number of voices follows behind them. And Isaac looks to see and a group of armor-clad men on horses starts galloping for them. Isaac clucks his tongue, “Quick, quick!” He says for Merry and Bell to pick up their pace to a gallop. “Lord Magister, we’re being followed!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAkR8kuqhRPk
“Soldiers perhaps?” Ober guesses correctly, saying, “They are probably hired by Cornellius and with the bounty, they for sure would not wish to hear us speak. Ride”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAhbbzknxCVP
“Right!” Isaac stands up from his seat, wheeling for bridges and familiar streets. There are three ways he can lead Merry and Bell to the second plateau. One is impossible because it is through a barracks. Second is through the cliffside that are only used by hikers—risky. Third is rock climbing but who wants to do that in the mid evenings where arrows whine right pass the ears and striking in between the small gap of Merry and Bell. The cliffside is where Isaac decides to bank for the alleys, asking the horses to leap over walls with the carriage following through.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAsIwZQDndNd
Bump and a rough ride that Peacock gets his head smack at the ceiling or around the corners every time the carriage swerves. “CAN YOU RIDE A BIT SA—PFFFRRR” Save his face and tongue against Ober’s rock-hard abdomen. For an old man, Peacock thought it would be squishy but then he gets thrown around again, straight back onto the ceiling. “I AM BEING BATTERED CHI—KRRRNN” before front flat on the carpet. “I KNEW I SHOULD HAVE TOUNGED ABOUT MY BAD FEELINGS!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANASXuATfdvEW
Then, something thuds on the ceiling.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA5cdILPdZh0
Bell shrieks and explodes into a bloody rain. Morphing herself to her humanoid form--Leaping backwards and devouring a ball of crackling gunpowder and fireworks on the carriage roof. Sparks and blast explode in her body.
172Please respect copyright.PENANA2oLezQIFCF
“Bell!” Isaac calls out but the devil stays behind. Smoke flowing out of her moth as she murderously glares on the bewildered horseback soldiers. Screaming and many falls back from their saddles. Some firing arrows but passes through her shadowy body. The men pointing at the grey spot around her scarlet blood eyes, and the half-cross hair asking their bulky iron clad captain to call for a retreat. “That is a devil beast captain! We have to run back!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAHpNTGRfR7y
“Run with our tails intact!?” The captain barks, before commanding his four squad of hooded magicians to fireball at it. Exploding at contact, “There you go! Send it back to hell!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAB3ao6UaAxQ
But Bell remains standing, poise and elegant with her hourglass figure before uttering, “Πνεῦμαthορ” and the magicians bursts into blue flames. Panicking as they take off their cloaks, screaming hoarsely as they realize that the flame is burning from inside their skin pores. Quickly scorching them to ashes.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAh9W1ByEJAm
“Do not falter!” The captain yells, before telling Bell that he is one who controls with true authority and power. That his division is the strongest in the flat plateau. “Keep your heads high and do not fear of that beast! That is a Djahatian trick!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAUZPSM2figu
And the soldiers behind him pick up their standing and clutch their reins. Their mindless horses leading straight to a presence close to death. Bell closes her eyes, opens them in less than the Hemreans could blink their own. And the soldiers once again stop, shrieking in fear before they retreat behind their captain.
172Please respect copyright.PENANANVE51ALkuJ
“I said do not fear!” The captain yells out once more, trying to keep his soldiers’ moral “Charge forward! KILL IT! WE HAVE TO CATCH THAT CRIMINAL FOR THE PRINCESS!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAXGBmSroTvp
And those words of moral lead the headless footmen to their literal beheading. Bell’s blade altered arms stretches out indefinitely and slices off the entire front row necks. Heads flying back in unison in a dramatic play that nobody can believe in. Rage and fear mingle in the remaining soldiers and they charge in the captain’s commands. Two, three, and four rows, a total of 20 men and their horses beheaded easily by Bell. Before roaring out her avalanche success.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAkqSpeerxHH
“What are you…” His shaky voice asking him to retreat with his horse.
Bell looks back to see that the carriage is riding up the cliffside. She charges, not to head back, but to flash in front of the captain and behead his horse. Blood erupts all over his front, covering the dark devil’s face all before Bell’s blades scissors shallowly onto the captain’s neck---she stops, like a statue as the captain is seeing his past flash before him. Her body explodes into fluttering ashes and dark bands of energy.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAZeeAx2u7dU
Ober had called out Bell’s name and a fluttering of dark ashes flies towards and engrave onto lord magister’s right hand. He stumbles back onto his seat, groaning as he checks the burn mark on his right palm. Sighing gladly, seeing two cute red eyes blink awake “She is okay”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAE9JnAc8xgL
Isaac and Merry would have celebrated but they approach the archway by the end of the peak end of the slope. An iron gate stops the carriage and a soldier this time, with silver armor with pauldrons of the amaranth flower. The boy keeps a cautious look as he replies to where they wish to go. To which the soldier asks for an official letter from any noble or princesses. “Lord magister” Isaac once again speaks through the sliding panel, “They ask…”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAeTEQQNrv8y
“We have arrived?” sounding excitedly worrying that Isaac hears the carriage door open
172Please respect copyright.PENANA8CxjSm7Wp4
“Lord Magister, what are you doing, get back inside! They might--”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAEDb9A8TgUw
“Calm down son, no need to be alarmed once we are here on the second plateau”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAqa5rZXEquH
“And why exactly?” Peacock comes out, fluttering his wings and realizing that he can fly.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAmNZDjEwfXV
The soldier and gatekeeper kneel with their toes pointed back to their body—a full kneel suggesting to the boy that these soldiers are not what he thinks they are. Ober takes the armor from the carriage and carries it to the soldier whose eyes are full of excitement, lips purse in. “I believe this belongs here.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAdABHpAvr89
The soldier salutes before running back to the gatekeeper who is just as excited to see the lord magister that he had sent a blue feathered pigeon to fly a letter. They both walk towards the noble, kneels and greets differently compares to the guards wearing the three headed princess crown emblem.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAVweQSG3KlA
“Lord magister” salutes gatekeeper, power in his voice, followed by the soldier beside him. Broad shoulders and at the height of an orc, with a wise beard and a truthful gaze. “Our captains and elders have been praying for your safe return and we are glad to see you so.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA3yY7kHpk8M
“My pleasure soldier,”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAWGVfmybgEJ
“Lord Magister!” An old man comes down from the gate tower, immediately hurrying himself to bow and kiss the magister’s foot with his forehead. “Oh, how long have I prayed to finally meet you! You have been gone for more than a hundred years, and on that time, we have constantly prayed to the immortal amaranth for your return. Our fathers and mothers, and now–our children, we are extremely delightful in once again having you lord magister!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAuk7JABBmjQ
“All my pleasures, elder. It has been indeed a while since I left Kinguin. And I believe you all had thought of me to be dead. Haha, partly my fault for not telling everyone. Especially when the princesses are on the throne.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAvJSEWmgFlu
“Yes…we still do not know lord magister. We still do not know why there is an unexplained guilt in our hearts. And we still hold true of it. Until we get an answer from you. Why, lord magister? Why have we forgotten something that you know? That every Kinguin’s people should know?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAokPFaGE0wZ
“That…” Ober hesitates but brings himself fully up front, “That is my sin that I should hold on for now, elder.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAh0MscsYcFG
“I see…so we have to wait for the right time then?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA5j0xeovqvW
“That, which will happen earlier than what the prophecy tells.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANARZfDr62Yet
“!? ... The prophecies…are they really…”
172Please respect copyright.PENANANWSbCLVyMb
“They are,” Ober nods, “Best believe on them for now. Please, allow my carriage and servants to enter.”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAdwFv4xxO5v
“Captain” The gatekeeper who has been inspecting diligently the carriage sees Peacock plucking its own feathers. “Are green Peacocks allowed?”
172Please respect copyright.PENANA5RtkUalqHV
“What a ridiculous question! That must be a gift for those wenches am I right lord magister? Let it be!”
172Please respect copyright.PENANAV1jNwyGLSf
Ober laughs at that before walking back into the carriage for the gate to open. Merry heaves in the reins, and nickers her gratitude at the understanding soldiers.
172Please respect copyright.PENANAeN2KBH70IA
The three soldiers, waves and salute for the lord magister riding up another slope for the third plataeu. Slowly but surely making their way to the King’s balcony where the statue of the three acting princesses poses in the middle of a fountain. Coniferous trees line the sides with a constant gentle breeze of the wind.
172Please respect copyright.PENANABqrRlBGPRj
A patrolling soldier is running around, asking the captains in the area if they have men to spare for an uprising at the lower plateaus. Telling that an entire squadron was beheaded except for the captain. The news rushes to deploy squadrons, which Isaac looks at them with a raised chin, proud of Merry and Bell who have helped them ride up to the front yard of Kinguin Castle.
