Faced with this unprecedented “Animal Language Outbreak,” the trio from the Supernatural Research Club was completely baffled. Even though Lin Xiaoqiang could understand the thoughts of animals, actually hearing them speak fluent human language still left him deeply shocked.
“What… what is going on here? Could Dr. Klaus’s experiment have also affected the animals’ language abilities?” Lin Xiaoqiang was utterly perplexed.
“Maybe he secretly developed some kind of ‘Animal Speech Converter’!” Otaku exclaimed excitedly, raising his camcorder. “This is absolutely a Nobel-level supernatural discovery!”
Wang Meili, however, didn’t seem as thrilled. “But… what they’re saying is the real issue. My chinchilla actually complained to me last night that my pink sweater was too tacky!”
As more and more residents reported that their pets had started “talking,” Barbie City spiraled into a strange and chaotic state. Pets no longer relied on barks, meows, or gestures to communicate their needs—instead, they expressed their inner thoughts, complaints, and even secrets in plain language.
Suddenly, it was as if every pet in Barbie City had joined a massive game of “Truth or Dare,” blurting out their most honest feelings without reservation.
“My owner just stares at her phone all day and never plays with me!” a husky complained loudly to a passerby.
“The cat next door keeps stealing my dried fish! And he said Old Wang’s got a stash of secret cash hidden under the bed!” a tabby cat ruthlessly exposed the neighbor’s secrets.
“I don’t like wearing those ridiculous little outfits at all—but I put up with it for snacks!” a poodle confessed to its owner with a sigh.
What gave Lin Xiaoqiang the biggest headache was that now, on top of hearing animals’ thoughts, he could also hear them talking nonstop in human language. His brain felt like it was about to explode from the chatter.
“Oh my god! This is worse than having a hundred cats meowing in my ears at once!” Lin Xiaoqiang cried out, clutching his ears in agony.
To deal with this bizarre situation, the Supernatural Research Club held an emergency meeting.
“We need to find out what’s really going on! Dr. Klaus’s experiment must’ve left some lingering effects!” Lin Xiaoqiang said firmly.
“So what should we do? Go door-to-door and interview every pet?” Otaku suggested… rather unhelpfully.
Wang Meili rolled her eyes. “Do you seriously think those suddenly-talking pets are going to cooperate with our investigation? They’ll probably just insult our fashion sense and call our pink outfits tacky again.”
Just as the trio was at a loss, Lin Xiaoqiang suddenly remembered something. Back in the underground lab, he had heard some animals mention that Dr. Klaus had used their fears to generate the pink energy.
“Maybe… the reason they can talk now is because certain emotions inside them have been amplified?” Lin Xiaoqiang speculated.
“Fear? But the stuff they’re saying now—their ‘truth bombs’—what kind of emotion would that be?” Wang Meili asked, puzzled.
Lin Xiaoqiang carefully recalled the animals’ words, then suddenly realized something: most of what they said were complaints about their owners, gripes about other animals, and confessions of hidden secrets.
“Maybe… their repressed true thoughts have been amplified!” Lin Xiaoqiang said in astonishment. “Dr. Klaus might have used some method to magnify their emotions, causing them to uncontrollably spill what’s in their hearts!”
