It only took a minute .
Just a minute . In this condemned place for me to get hit with a stray bullet!
Which seemed to be a normal occurrence in the area , given the way the people were walking by , women sparing the occasional glance of pity at his situation- ........wait ........did that bastard just send a smirk my way ! , I exclaim in anger , seems some people are so bored with their lives that they find entertainment in the pain of others.
A hot searing pain in my shoulder reminded me , I'm still in the open , bleeding , vulnerable to a stray bullet that just may have been intentional , a sitting duck for a trained sniper .
"Maddison, goodness are you alright ! " , Louis exclaims , the shock of the bullet wearing off , allowing him to access the situation , concerning his friend.
"I'll go hunt down the bastard that shot you ! " , Louis says in a fit of rage ,about to leave not thinking of the possibility that the sniper could still shoot as they're in the open , within his range , defenseless against him should he choose to give them an escort to hell.
" No need Louis, I'm okay , it's just a small wound" , he reassures trying to calm his friend .
Yes , tiny , compared to what that man would do. It's best I don't go down the memory lane , I should remind myself, I'm still on business , the case is my first priority, my wellbeing placed second.
Louis says they should head to Clearwater estate , his family home , and seek his family doctor , suggesting they'll arrive fast if they board a carriage now .
My head began to get fuzzy and disoriented , my thoughts scattering , I dread the truth that I may have to succumb to the dark confines of my dangerous mind , wanting to evade my thoughts , that circle my father's morales as if a predator waiting to descend on its prey .
Louis had said something concerning the Clearwater estate , not really catching the meaning of his words .
I feel myself being lifted , my feet of the ground , I instantly fling my hand to hit the perpetrator , to which they respond with , holding my hand in a vice-like grip .
"Maddison, stop fussing it's me Louis, I'm going to carry you into the carriage now , my apologies for when I lifted you without warning , now , please co-operate ! " , loud says raising his voice at the end .
Heaving his lead like body onto the carriage, assisted by the helpful coachmen , whom upon seeing the blood on Maddison's shoulder understands how fire the situation is.
Louis thought Maddison dead when the bullet hit him , his mind , not having the time to register where bullet had lodged itself on his body , set into panic , the voice in his head deceitfully whispering lies , telling him , ' You're only friend got shot and you can't even save him , so much for being mummy's brave boy ' , it whispered sarcastically, mocking him for being his mother's child , his no stranger to his memories of her nor to the voice in his head .
' There's no time to listen to that asshole ! ' , Louis held Maddison, supporting his weight , the blood seeping into his finely pressed silk shirt and staining the fabric of the carriage seats .
"To Clearwater estate .....with hast !" , he added as an afterthought considering his friend was slowly dying of blood loss. It was clear the coachman didn't enjoy being rushed if his facial expression was anything to go by , the pinching of his brows and frowned face , his eyes constantly glancing back to his beloved seats , straight from a wash , now stained with a dead man's blood , grouting his teeth he focused on the road , promising to charge a high fee in vengeance of his seats , seeing as the man had the audacity to shout the destination of a noble house as if he owns it.
Louis tightened his grip on Maddison as if he was the one in pain , in need of an anchor , yet he truly was in a pain of his own . It hurt him to hold someone with the potential to be his long-lived companion , yes it was a forward thought considering they met today , but Louis Clearwater has always been a man of rapid progression ,but this man had his own morale code.
Go low , I'll go lower .
Go lowest , I'll drag you to hell .
The carriage had come to a stop , from the moment the horses hoves stopped beating the ground . " We've arrived gentleman" , said the coachman with an undertone of badly disguised anger and a hidden sneer , glancing back at them through the small mirror infront , Louis didn't have time to confront the man for his attitude, seeing as he had more pressing matters to deal with , such as his unconscious companion who could rivale a vampire or artistocrats wife with his skin colour .
Louis got out with speed , but was gentle in handling the unconscious man in his arms , not paying much mind to it , he threw a random estimate of pounds for the ride , leaving to the gate ahead .
The coachman could only cackle in delight and smile with glee , as the man had given him £500 for a £20 trip .
Louis entered his estate , well , father's , but that was a debate for another day .
"Good evening master Louis, we would have prepared better in advance , had we known you'd come home ", The Butler said with a fake demeanor of hospitality, rushing to match the pace at which his master walked . " That's of no concern , I hadn't any intentions to come here " , Louis said walking briskly to the mansion doors .
"My friend has gotten injured call for the family doctor now !" , he explained in a rushed manner to the butler .
Pyro had served the Clearwater house for many years , from when he was a young boy aged 12 to now , of course he had noticed the treatment, the youngest master got , and how the isolation from his family had greatly affected him . He was happy to hear the young master had abruptly returned home with someone from one the panicking maids , but it seems his friend got unlucky and was bleeding from a shoulder shot , not a significantly grave wound at all , either way he was instructed to call the family doctor not asses the limp mans wound .
