Luckily he found the table empty. It was the same place where he first saw her ditching school. They both sat across from each other without saying a word throughout the small walk. He had ordered 3 pieces of sandwich. 2 for himself and one for her. 129Please respect copyright.PENANAnnHCKcGT1U
'Thanks.' She took the sandwich with both of her hands.
'So, are you going to give me your answer? I sound like I'm trying to be your boyfriend, am I?' He slumped into the seat.
She looked surprised.
'Aren't you? I mean, I'm not expecting you to be, but I had just thought of the possibility.' She said flushing a bit.
'Maybe. Maybe not..'
Fay sighed inwardly. There was this part of her that suddenly let's go during situations like these. She had tried making a connection or some technique to stop this kind of feeling and thinking, to at least understand it. She felt tired going around the bush. Further pretending, of acting. Her suppressed feelings dragging her down to a pitch hole of neutrality and in that hole the certain answers for Yes and No as flies flocking around her decaying body disrupts her peace that either makes her tired of dealing with it or irritated. The scraping of the metal chair beside them brought her back to her senses. All the while Kharel was observing her closely.
'Aren't you good with drawing?' She suddenly asked.
'A bit.'
'I don't think it's just 'a bit' though. That detailed dragon was nice.'
'Nice? are you trying to convince me to join your crew? I'm sorry but my answer is no.'
'Well, I never said such thing.'
'What do you mean?'
'I guess if I could give you a date, then how can you not give me a voluntary assistance?'
His eyes were wide open before he scoffed and puts down his sandwich.
'You are really something, aren't you? Your so called voluntary assistance has greater value than 1 date.'
'I'm not saying that either.' She shakes her head as if thought she was trying to shake away a bad dream. 'I'm sorry. I don't know what I was talking about. Forget about it.'
Later that afternoon Kharel managed to convince Fay to come with him watch some film in the local mall. She agreed to only for a few hours before the curfew. She sat on top of the bar of the bike that connects to the handle of it. His legs were in between her arms pedaling slowly.
'Fay, when's your birthday?'
'Hmm? that's the first time you called my name. It's in January 13. How about yours?'
A car blew it's horn at them making her flinch. The words she had spouted moments ago flew out of her mind for a few minutes before coming back, but then they had already arrived.
'Popcorn?'
'I don't like them.' She answered.
Both of them sat on the 5th row of the dark room. It's walls soundproof making her voice sound distant and small. It was her first time to come inside a cinema since 1st grade. Her parents were fond of cinema's but after she puked all over 3 seats, it probably made a big traumatic experience for them. Throughout the movie she got to be more and more conscious of the cold biting her toes, legs and fingers. Sometimes she could feel his eyes on her.
'Thanks for bringing me back. I was heavy, wasn't I?'
'It was a good exercise.'
She frowned at him. Behind them, one building's floor lights were turned off followed by another and another. Leaving only two bulbs at the ground floor.
'I have to go now. Thanks again.' She was really itching to go inside the dorm without anyone seeing them together. She could imagine herself trembling at the thought of all those girls flocking around her constantly asking for information.129Please respect copyright.PENANA8vLIJah9dZ

'No, I'm getting more suspicious of you.'
'On what matters?'
'I already told you, don't go all Ave Maria on me.'
He smiles at her. A smile that normal girls would had swoon about and had that feeling called butterflies in her stomach, but all that was there was his smile.129Please respect copyright.PENANATkYzmlXg7y
'Well, since it's late and I wouldn't probably see you in a few days. How about I point out the things that makes me suspicious. I'm a transferee , I'm a loner and a brooder, I don't seem to be interested in other people's business but I somehow got to take an interest in you, I've been asking you out in various ways that makes you misunderstand and be confused of my true motives. How about that? Did I miss anything?' 129Please respect copyright.PENANAFaB5Lsd6S7
She opens her mouth to say something smart. But she realizes he just summarized the whole thing for her, she remained silent. 129Please respect copyright.PENANAjy9UQNF1D7
'So... what do you want to know?' He cocked his head a little to the side. His eyes showing true wonder at her. She bit the flesh inside her cheek before she took a few steps towards him and reached out to pinch his cheeks hard. 129Please respect copyright.PENANArG51IeuzL4
'Oww! what was that for?' He reacted. To her surprise, in an instant, both of his hands were on her arms and he pulls her nearer to him until only a few inches were left between their faces. The intensity of his gaze made her feel unfamiliar emotions inside her. This time she could tell that this wasn't any kind of joke or teasing, that made her even more of a wreck inside. She felt a sharp shiver crawl up on her body, her pulse rising and her breathing hitched. Her knees went weak when his eyes started to check out her lips and runs his right thumb at it, gently while his other arm pulls her close on the waist. She tries to resist him but at that moment she was too distracted by his actions to even struggle harder. He gives out a small chuckle as he lands a soft kiss at the edge of her lips. 'Good night.'129Please respect copyright.PENANAMIx8EEMC7a
*FLASHBACK*
It was the last day of the 3rd Quarter Examination. It was a very glorious day to have fun and just let everything go after weeks of stress. She was skipping back inside the dorm excited to change into some casual clothes and hang out with some of her friends when a small crowd of squealing girls blocked half of the corridor. They seem to be fixed on someone at the center of the circle. When she passed through she saw a senior smiling nervously and trying to get some of the girls hands off her arm, which was constantly wriggling it as she said 'Tell me, Tell me, Tell me. Was he handsome? Where did your first kiss happen? Oh wait, how was it?'. Fay knew her as the captain of the tennis club. She also remembered that the reason why their Martial Arts club had few applicants from the high school department was because of her. She was very popular and the fact that she quickly gained her fame in a short amount of time was even more amazing. She was an exotic beauty, like her though she doesn't accept this other fact, and was down to earth. No wonder she caught the Vice-president's attention at that time which was like a seat for Royals- as what other girls prefer to think of it. She took pity for her at that moment. And then it happened.
A few months after the news spread that they started going out a very large misunderstanding floated around the campus that even the Student Formation Coordinator got into the works of clearing up the bad rumor. She wasn't sure what was really the matter but it was true that cyber bullying caused her to lose her self-esteem and eventually drop out of school. The girls who pretended to had been supportive was two faced and turned her words into things against her. Things had gotten so out of hand people didn't know where to start. As a far branch of a large Catholic school, the matter was taken very seriously and portrayed as something sinful and disgusting by the adults. 129Please respect copyright.PENANAe0Nimr6q5U
It's not like she has the same amount of popularity or power in this school. She thought. And it was many years ago, but she can't take away the fear of the unpredictable.
'Fay,' She turned back. 'look above.' She did and thousands of stars spread far and wide as her eyes could see. Her mouth fell agape. 'It doesn't look like this back at my place.' He said.
'From the city? or the place you are living now?'
'The city. Though it does bring back memories when I was a child.' His looked empty for a moment. She wasn't sure if it was the trick of the light or her imagination.129Please respect copyright.PENANAM8BbUWGRyk
'It isn't often that nights are as cloudless as this though. It's my 15th time seeing one.'
'Amazing,you really count them?'
'I love the sky.'
'Especially night time, isn't it?'
'Yeah. What program are you going to take in college?'
'What's that all of a sudden?'
'Does it have to do with studying heavenly bodies?' She said without looking at him. He looks at her for a moment. His smile fading. His eyes turning cold.
'It's late. I probably should go.'
'Oh. Ok.'
'And by the way, I had fun.'
She waited until she could no longer see his silhouette going down the road.
