THE REASON I WAS STANDING OUTSIDE THIS GATE
(gingersfairy)
"Young Girl, the house is no longer inhabited. Since five years ago, the house was empty. "
"Uncle, do you know who owns the house?"
"I don't know for sure which rich family has such a big house. However, the rumor I heard was that this was a sick Young Master staying here to recover. "
".... Thank you, Uncle."
Pier sighed. She squatted in front of the high gate while holding a worn letter. After five years, she was finally able to return to this small village, but the reason for her return was gone. Although at first, Pier did not expect too much. She just wants to meet with that person.
As she stared at this letter which no longer shaped, Pier grew more desperate.
I have thought hundreds of possibilities of the reason he didn't reply to my letter. I never thought, that letter never even reached the recipient in the first place.
Pier ruffled her hair. She looked up once more and looked at this high gate with a gaze full of desire.
Pier doesn't know what the boy's name is. How old is he. What food he likes. Where he goes to school. She did not have a clue at all.
It's just ... a little love that is pure from the depth of her heart. To like someone at first sight. Only seen from a distance, she was happy half to death.
Five years ago.
Pier is not the original people of this small town. If this can be called a city compared to a large village. Her aunt bought a piece of land in this city then brought Pier to this city to enjoy a summer vacation. Nothing special. Even so, Pier still wants to know about this new environment. She will spend two full weeks here then it would be very unfortunate if she did not explore a bit.
With a rusty bicycle obtained from Aunt's warehouse. Pier paddles nonchalantly while enjoying the gentle breeze. The air in this city is still fresh. Motorized vehicles are not that much so the city is quite understated. Pier is paddling all the time so it is inevitable because of this summer she sweats pretty much. Pier saw a small shop selling popsicles and she stopped to buy one.
Not until Pier realized that she had entered the small streets. With popsicles in her mouth, Pier realized that there was one building that stood out among all the buildings Pier had seen along the way. A magnificent mansion with a tall iron gate followed by several vines wrapped around the edge of the gate. Pier was stunned. She did not realize that she had stopped her bicycle and got off. Pier looked up to admire the antique-style house behind the gate with a silly look.
Not until the sound of the horn from the car wake Pier up. She was shocked and immediately pulled over with her bicycle. Pier looked nervously at the luxurious car. She was afraid that the car owner would get angry and insult her for standing in front of their house suspiciously.
Stinging sun plus nervousness, more sweat on Pier's forehead. With her eyes wide open, she found in the passenger seat, the window lowered and revealed a boy with a charming figure. His reddish-brown hair is smooth and shines through the light that breaks in. But Pier could not fully admire the figure when only a few seconds before the car disappeared behind the gate. Only Pier finally realized.
Pier held her chest in panic as she felt her heart beating fast as if it was racing constantly.
God, I fell in love with a person whose face only shows a side profile.
After that, at the same time, Pier would leave her aunt’s house and head for the mansion by riding her battered bicycle again. Like a stalker, she would hide some distance and the opposite direction of the car came only to peek for a few seconds the boy who always lowered the window car.
Every time she saw the boy, Pier would smile stupidly.
Even her aunt was surprised when she saw her niece very excited every day to get around the city.
Activities that are very similar to the stalker that Pier performed repeatedly. Every day. Until two weeks of stay here is up.
But unfortunately, Pier never had the courage to show her face in front of the boy and invite him to get acquainted.
The day before she departed. Pier stood in front of the mansion's gate with a face full of hope. She waited nervously for the boy's arrival but the person who was waiting did not arrive. Not as usual when he will always return at the same time every day.
Pier couldn't think clearly to suspect anything. In the end, when she saw that there was no hope of seeing that boy today, Pier, with a sad face, took out a letter. It was only when he saw the letter, Pier's face glowed with hope.
Pier stroked the letter with teary eyes before putting it into an old, unlocked mailbox next to the gate.
Pier breathed in the air hard before exhaling roughly. She then patted his cheeks.
There is still hope. I have included my e-mail address and my home address.
Although very reluctant, Pier left the place by her bicycle with heavy steps.
Every day, every week, every month, and even every year, Pier waits with uncertain expectations.
Pier could no longer come to the city on her own initiative because right before the summer holidays the next year came, her aunt decided to resell her farm. Pier could not make an excuse to come to a small and remote town where none of her relatives lived there. Pier could only wait while daydreaming in front of her desk.
Then finally with great courage, five years later, Pier ventured to appear. She has been mature enough to travel wherever she wants.
However, that almost extinguished hope vanished when she learned this cruel reality.
That boy, who she is willing to see, has disappeared. Do not know where. And Pier can't find him anywhere.
Pier gripped her shirt right where his heart was. It hurts. Pier tears down and Pier can't stop it.
After she stood there all afternoon, Pier finally stood up from her squatting position. Her leg cramps from squatting for too long.
In the left hand which holds a letter from six years ago and in the right hand, there is a very new letter.
That was Pier's acknowledgment. She wrote it repeatedly while at home and carried it with hope. Even though, Pier knows that doing it is futile but she cannot just give up and throw away her hard work.
So Pier put the two letters back in the mailbox beside the gate.
Pier smiled.
It's okay if this letter is never delivered to your hands in the end. I just hope that you are always healthy and happy. Whenever you are.

Hello, my name is Pier Aggostaf.
I apologize in advance because I, whom you have never known, dared to send you letters.
I ... I love you at first sight.
Do you remember five years ago, there was a girl on a battered bicycle stopping in front of your house gate and blocking your car from wanting to get in? That was the first time I saw you when you rolled down your car window.
I know this is corny and suspicious, but I really liked you when I saw you at that time.
After that, I continue to see you at the same time every day from afar. But I don't have the courage to say hello to you. I was a little afraid that you would kick me out.
Then when my time in this city ran out, I ventured to wait for you back in front of your gate, but I could not see you at that time. In the end, I left a letter in the mailbox beside your gate.
However, I have not received any reply for years.
I am worried, afraid, and curious. Until it took me five years later to be able to return to this city just to meet you.
But I was late.
I just stand in front of the gate stupidly looking at your empty house.
If only I was not too cowardly at that time. I will not lose you.
I know this letter will not be conveyed to you, but I sincerely pray from the bottom of my heart that you will always be healthy and happy.
If God pleases, let God meets us together again.
I promise I will not act stupid like last time. And with all my power to be able to talk to you.
-Dear, Pier
