I listened closely, discarding what Ross said about it being late. I heard the raindrops outside. I had been staring at the wall for a while now, listening to the rain and the cracking of thunder. It was so relaxing.
"Huh? Oh sorry."
I turned and saw Ross, he looked concerned but not anymore. I didn't want to leave Ross's house, but I was unsure if he wanted me to stay. I rubbed the back of my neck, feeling my curly hair in between my fingers.
A loud crack of thunder broke the silence, Ross squeaked and it was so adorable.
GODDAMMIT ADAM IF YOU DON'T STOP WITH THESE THOUGHTS ABOUT ROSS. YOU ARE DONE WITH A LOVE LIFE.
I scolded myself internally. I could only smile at Ross as he was flustered by embarrassment. He was obviously not pleased by the horror game because he hated horror.
I couldn't get the rest of the words out.
I blushed a little and brought my hands down to my sides, sighing.
"Can I.....stay here for tonight..?"
I saw him smile.
"Sure, no problem man. Anything for a pal."
"Thanks man, you're the best."
I smiled and I took off my shoes. I set them by the mat at the door so I wouldn't get any more of the floor dirty.
"I'll sleep on the couch."
"No, I sleep on the couch, you take the bed."
I crossed my arms and looked at Ross.
"I'm the guest, I'm taking the couch."
"Exactly, you're the guest, so you deserve better."
I shook my head in denial.
"Why don't we share the bed then?!"
I felt the blood run straight to my cheeks, I could tell he was blushing too.
Ross's bedroom was just down the hall, so it didn't take long to get in bed. Ross had changed into boxers and a tank, while I was shirtless in jeans. Blushing as we got in bed. I was on one side, while he was on the other.
It seemed as if all my sadness went away when I was...with him...
It was him
That I've been waiting for
For so...so long...
I listened to the rain, but I could only smile and laugh when Ross would squeak at the loud thunder. it seems as if it was a soul mate thing. I wonder if he has feelings for me. I turned on my side and could feel the threatening tears sting and prick in my eyes.
Ross too was on his side, facing the opposite way. But I was facing him. We weren't touching or in a spooning position. I smiled through the happy tears. Why was I crying? I was remembering the past.
When Ross and I used to joke about the days in elementary school.
When I told Ross everyone has that "teenage girl" inside them.
When we laughed together.
Cooking with Earl.
Barney and the sweepstakes.
The Sad Cory meme-ing.
The silent tears rolled down my cheeks I whispered to Ross, who was snoring softly.
"Thank you....for everything...and if I'm gone one day, just know that I'll love you anyway..."
I took off my glasses and set them on the nightstand before closing my eyes and listening to the storm. My tears drying and staining my face.
I hadn't noticed we were spooning. I was big spoon. Ross was little spoon.ns22.214.171.124da2
