Kam Chin Kee sat in the Imperial Garden, staring into space blankly.
Everything he knew about Chui Yim replayed in his mind. Anyone else would think Chui Yim was a natural genius, but not him. From his mechanisms to his forging, especially the focus Chui Yim had while working; one’s skills didn’t lie, and his focus that allowed him to ignore the outside world proved his sheer experience in several fields.
Which is just like me.
Kam Chin Kee was at a loss. What should I do if he’s indeed like me, someone who reincarnated into this world?
“Brother Chin Kee, what are you doing?” A cheerful voice rang out as Lam Ming Sum appeared in front of him, blinking her small eyes. “What’s wrong?”
“If you were a lonely bird who left your hometown, wandering alone for decades, but now you’ve met another lonely bird in the same situation…” Kam Chin Kee asked subconsciously.
“I’d be happy.” Lam Ming Sum smiled. “To meet someone the same as me! Even if we were from different hometowns, our similar experiences would make us the same. I’d be happy to make such a friend.”
Kam Chin Kee stood rooted to the ground. Why am I getting vexed over such a simple matter?
“Ming Sum’s so smart.”
“Of course!” Lam Ming Sum lit up with a bright smile on hearing him. “Only big brother Chui constantly calls me stupid,” she murmured.

The next day, Chui Yim arrived at the Cloud Palace’s outer sect for lessons as usual.
The centre of attention, Mung Si, had a cold expression as she sat silently, awaiting Mister Cheuk’s arrival.
On the other hand, Lam Zaa was staring at Chui Yim. “I see brother Chui isn’t ordinary, huh?”
Chui Yim only laughed and shrugged.
“Good morning, brother Chui.” When Chui Yim got to his seat, Kam Chin Kee greeted him with a friendly smile, making him shudder as he stared at him disdainfully.
“I really can’t adapt to your mood swings.”
“Hehe.” Kam Chin Kee didn’t care as he continued to smile. “It’s just that I’ve thought something through.”
Chills ran down Chui Yim’s spine. He looked at Kam Chin Kee as he spoke sincerely, “Let me make myself clear. Even if I don’t discriminate against such people, I don’t swing that way. Please don’t try anything with me.”
“Hahaha.” Chui Yim’s words made Kam Chin Kee laugh. “Brother Chui is really interesting.”
Just then, Cheuk Kwun entered the classroom. Like always, he looked fatigued. “Time for class. We’ll have it outside today, follow me.”

The Cloud Palace outer sect had a small campus. The space was even smaller than Chui Yim’s workshop. They had just enough space for the entire class to sit down.
“As usual, ask me any questions you have. Since we’re outdoors, we can perform gliphilities. But you guys can discuss amongst yourselves too, as long as we get past today.” Mister Cheuk yawned as he sat down, ready to sleep.
“Mister Cheuk, I have a question,” Suet Sing Fuk asked.
“What?” Mister Cheuk opened his eyes as he frowned at Suet Sing Fuk.
“There are different attributed styles and gliphs. Will the environment we reside in affect our cultivation depending on our style?”
“Yes.” Mister Cheuk nodded as he finally sat up, looking slightly more energetic. “Since you’re from the North, which is constantly cold throughout the year, cultivating cold-attributed styles will be beneficial. Similarly attributed gliphs will be stronger too. However, the opposite will occur with fire-attributed attacks.”
“But there are exceptions too,” Mister Chuek said, turning towards Mung Si. “If the cultivation style is grade five or above, the energliph cultivated will be beyond the limiting environmental factors. The Blazing Skies style is the best example. The style can ignore the cold environment and allow the cultivator to perform to the best of their abilities.”
“Alright, I understood. Thank you, Mister Cheuk.” Suet Sing Fuk nodded as he stepped back, not saying anything else.
Immediately after, a teenager jumped out excitedly. It was none other than the Wong Clan’s genius, Wong Chow Yip. “Mister Cheuk, take a look at my gliphility!”
With a shout, Wong Chow Yip’s right hand emulated a tiger claw as energliph congealed along his arms. It was unknown if it was deliberate, but at the direction of his arm, five dark yellow scratch marks formed in the air and shot towards Chor Kwong Laan!
Chor Kwong Laan was still seriously injured, and there was no way he could defend himself. As he was in the midst of activating his energliph, the dark yellow scratch marks vanished, leaving Wong Chow Yip in a daze.
Where did it go?
“It’s nothing amazing.” Mister Cheuk waved his sleeves. “There’s too little energliph powering this gliphility, making its impact weaker. This should be the Tiger Blade of the Wong Clan’s Tiger Claws, right? I suggest you use this as a short-range attack when your energliph is already congealed. It will also strengthen the impact.”
“Lastly, stop acting crazy.” Mister Cheuk glared at Wong Chow Yip. “No matter who you are, be it a mad tiger or a spiral dragon, all of you must behave at the Cloud Palace outer sect. If there’s a next time, you shall face the consequences.”
Wong Chow Yip held his breath, his playful expression vanishing. “Yes, Mister Cheuk.” Mister Cheuk’s ability to make his energliph vanish so easily proved his strength.

“I have a question.” Another student raised his hands.
This caused a change in the student’s expression, but they remained silent. That student was Chui Yim, the mysterious teenager who was the current talk of the town.
“Mister Cheuk, how does a gliphist select their personal gliph?”
His question caused the other students to sneer. Only a country bumpkin wouldn’t know the answer to such a simple question.
“Interesting question.” Mister Cheuk looked interested.
“One’s personal gliph plays a huge role for a gliphist because it acts like a glipher’s gliphility. A gliphist can know countless gliphs, but they can only have at most two personal gliphs. This is because personal gliphs need to suit the gliphist’s cultivation style, personality, preference and many more factors. There’s a saying you can tell a gliphist’s character from his personal gliph.”
Everything Mister Cheuk said was no surprise or secret to the Cloud Palace's outer sect students. However, what he said next left all of them in disbelief.
“Thus, the best personal gliph should be self-created,” he replied calmly.
“Mister Cheuk, but only elites of the hundred-gliphic state and above with extreme knowledge and skill can create their own gliphs…” Lee Bat Fan immediately raised his hand.
“Wrong.” Mister Cheuk cut him off. “The most suitable time to create a personal gliph is when the cultivator is still starting off.
“Your personal gliph is the gliph that’s most suitable for you. Gliphs are a medium to connect with the energy of heaven and earth. Even the simplest stroke may do so. The earlier a cultivator starts, the deeper his understanding of gliphs will be. Moreover, gliphs can be improvised; even the most superior gliphs are derived from basic gliphs.
“There are no other gliphs most suitable for a gliphist besides a self-created one. Start simple; it’s still your creation, after all. Improve it as you grow.
“However, many choose not to do so as they know this is a tough path, and their improvement will be slower than gliphists who choose powerful gliphs as their personal gliphs from the start.” Mister Cheuk shook his head in pity. “The world only knows that Man Chin Hung from the Imperial Sunset Palace is a great gliphist, but not many know that her personal gliph, the Thousand Miles Layered Yarn gliph, is a gliph that she created even before breaking through her innate chamber.”
His words left the gliphists in the class in surprise. Some were like Lee Bat Fan, heeding it as disdainful as they perceived it as unconventional, while others like Mung Si were excited to try it.
Meanwhile, Chui Yim, who asked the question, had a sudden realisation. He had mostly learnt his gliphism from Chor Shing Chit, who did a great job and forged Chui Yim’s strong foundation. Adding on the superior gliphs Chui Tin had shown him, he was an elite in gliphism amongst his batch. Chui Yim was just lacking direction, which was the reason behind his question today.
As a gliphist who had yet to reach the one-chambered state, he didn’t have any gliphs or gliphilities for Mister Cheuk to evaluate like Suet Sing Fuk and Wong Chow Yip did. Chui Yim was defining a clear path for himself after his breakthrough, when his cultivation would officially start.

Mister Cheuk’s lessons often passed at the speed of light. As the students had countless questions, the lesson ended swiftly as usual.
After the bell, the students left the class one by one.
The Cloud Palace outer sect was also known as a gathering of the world’s elites. Everyone would become important figures as they mature, and the friendships and connections they developed here would be important for them in the future. Some were even looking for their dream partner to grow in the path of cultivation together.
Lam Zaa and Yam Chui Ying came to Chui Yim. “Brother Chui, are you interested in visiting the palace?”
