Starfall Initiative spoilers ahead!
AN: There are a total of two perspectives in this. One will be from an outside view, and the other one will be a character perspective. I'd also like to note there are time jumps.
A lone male voice called in the distance. Struck her like a blade, except there was no pain. She was numb. Now it was all a blur even at the point her brain recognised it was time to leave. She spun on her heels, facing the door behind her and elbowing the panel. A tentative set of steps followed.
Her legs were shaky, her mind ablaze yet empty. That was before the numbness consumed that too. To put it simply?
She wasn't okay and the world no longer felt real.
People asked if she was okay, but all that followed was a pre-emptive response that slipped past her lips. She must've looked pale or something, but she had no care for that matter in the moment she stood.
She felt herself drift off into autopilot, taking no note of the surroundings around her. At least, until she arrived at her next destination.
An average sized Valtyorx stood at a counter, their black and gold skin glistening in the light, their even darker eyes revealing themselves with the movement of their head. They immediately got out a bottle of whatever the hell would do the trick, and she chugged the whole thing down in a matter of moments. That seemed to help, so she kept drinking.
She kept drinking and drank another half bottle of cold alcohol before the world began to return to her. She knew she was dazed, however.
"Mira! You scared the crap out of me!" She heard the bartender speak with such concern. Magnus truly was considerate.
Mira turned to her left now, hearing a new voice speaking... and crying. All alone on a Wednesday night, Mira still felt a decency within her emotionless brain to take her back up. "Thank you Magnus for your care, but I don't need that."
Magnus tilted their head in the general direction Mira was facing, about to wake up the poor woman who had fallen into a slumber upon the bar.
Only for Mira to stop them. "Let me handle this one."
Mira ushered closer as quietly as her body would allow her, cautiously scooping up the woman and holding her close. Only now did she get a good look of her face, and she defo wasn't the most beautiful person in the world. There were marks on her face from the countertop, and Mira assumed she had drank way too much. Even knowing of this fact, Mira's knew better than to leave her here.
Her insignia was hidden, and her rose bun was falling apart, as with anyone who had just done a long shift. Mira had not a clue where to take this person, so she decided to take her to Mira's own quarters.
Mira got many weird glances along the way, but she was too tired and dazed to even care. Her body was on autopilot once more, directing her through a maze of similar corridors leading to different locations.
Mira eventually got to the right deck though, stepping up the last step of the day and hurling herself towards her quarters, still trying to be careful even through such a harsh time.
She elbowed the panel of the door, stepping inside and moving down the ramp. Turned left, continued down a corridor and then opened another room up. Inside was a bedroom and ensuite, plus a desk and area for working. It had velvet for the flooring, and contained everything Mira could ever need.
The much smaller woman was still out cold, and Mira slid her under the comfy blue covers of a luxurious bed that was designed for Mira’s sheer height and weight.
Mira made sure the woman was nice and comfy under those covers, before sidestepping into the corner with her desk in. Her hat was thrown upon the side carelessly, Mira lowering herself into the large seat ahead of the desk. She pulled up a holographic screen, typing what she will into it.
But tiredness always wins.
POV: ???
Last night was a blur for me, and I woke with a massive headache. I did not recognise my location, but I realised I was in someone else’s bed rather quickly. 'Shit.'
I felt her heart sink. I sat upright before noticing the sleeping elite in the corner. Only elite units wear black outfits; this was something we got taught back as far as our training. Either way, I threw myself out of bed, making sure my steps were quiet to hopefully prevent the awakening of such a tall woman.
Unfortunately for me, I realised I woke her up seconds later. This elite shot up like a rocket into a proper sitting position, and I looked at her gone out for a moment. Then I put two and two together, inhaling sharply before I inevitably spoke. "What were you thinking?!”
The other woman turned to face me, probably only just gathering a sense of her surroundings. “I was thinking about the best course of action. What’s wrong with that?”
That filled me with blind rage, my fists clenching down by my sides, my rage manifesting in my tone of voice. Who does she think she is? “What’s wrong with that,” There was a momentary pause before I could have been mistaken for yelling. “What’s wrong with that? You could’ve landed us both in the brig, you stupid twit!”
I finally realised her full height, once again. It was a fact I had forgotten until she stood upright now, eyes narrowed. “Who do you think you are? You should be thanking me! I could’ve left you all alone in that bar I found you in, defenceless and vulnerable. I didn’t… I see now that was a mistake.”
Maybe it was the way she was speaking down to me, or the fact she was waking up, but Mira scared me shitless. She held her glare, arms crossed as I tried to correct the conversation. “I am Felicity Simmons, captain of this ship. Off-duty.”
A grin formed, and I knew she was trying to suppress her own laughter. “I highly doubt that. I’m Commander Mira Volkova.” I got even angrier at this point. The audacity!
I got angry enough I left the room, heading off to tend to some important matters. I made myself some scrambled egg and porridge to eat in the officer's break room, using minimal ingredients and having to improvise with whatever the hell I could. I also went to the bathroom and got changed out of my clothes. As time passed though, I began feeling an impending sense of guilt for my actions.157Please respect copyright.PENANAVR0ek6OGTT

By this point a week had passed. The guilt was almost unbearable, and I also began to admire Mira for all the wrong reasons… blame the six pack that stuck out through that trench coat. I sort of had an image of her stuck in my mind, but my memory was fuzzy; I was not a morning person at all. But with two bits of my brain bearing down on me, I couldn’t stop myself from buying a small bar of chocolate and heading back over to try and apologise. Was I being too kind? Probably.
I had just gotten off duty, a certain elite soldier captivating my thoughts as I grabbed the gift and headed on over. I knew Mira’s last name, so I did know where I needed to go once I got to the rooms that separated each first officer from one another. I eventually arrived at another neon door, decorated with stickers of guns and ships. Just general military stickers, though I did wonder if that broke protocol? I kept that thought and the snicker that came with to myself.
As I knocked my normal knock, I heard rustling from the other side. On this occasion, Mira had happened to be in her room and not working a shift; that’s a good start. Main question was, would she still be hostile to me.
As she opened the door, I was stunned. This seven foot two elite stood before me, wearing a grey shirt that physically exposed every single muscle on her torso. She also wore shorts, and thank fuck she did not catch me staring at those gigantic thighs. I looked up and noticed her eyes were narrowed, assessing me to make sure I wasn’t a threat. I managed to speak. “Look, I just wanted to say… I’m sorry. I wasn’t exactly the kindest to you, so I bought you this as an apology.”
Mira’s gaze softened as she looked behind her and back to me. “Come in real quick.”
I was confused, but did so nonetheless. She shut and locked the door behind us, before offering me her seat. “Are you sure?”
“Yeah; make yourself at home.” It was at the moment I realised why she was so bulky, burly, muscular and aggressive.
She’s a fucking Lockheed!
That terrified me to the core, but I still persisted, knowing there was no way out of this. She could kill me right now…
But she wasn’t looking as if she would. Behind the firm gaze was something much softer; I saw that within her. I offered her a chocolate bar, just wanting to leave before I got killed.
But she spoke up. “Thank you, and I’m… s-sorry, for what I said. I didn’t realise taking people in the way I took you was unacceptable.” A sort of… shame? That made me reconsider what I knew about supersoldiers generally.
And that’s exactly how our friendship started.

I’m feeling attracted to a FUCKING supersoldier! Mira’s a great friend, and sexy as an added bonus but… she is a literal genius and the sweetest thing since the corps invented sugar! She has the delicacy of a butterfly, and I cannot stop thinking of her!
At least I’ll get to see her after my shift, and we’ll go to a café together. I inadvertently purchase most things, but Mira always sees a need to pay me back in homemade cookies and the like; she’s a great baker as well!
Did I even begin with her laugh? With anyone else’s, I would of found it disturbing but somehow with her it’s lovely… but still disturbing. I myself cannot understand it, so I don’t know if anyone else will once I explain it to them… if, I can explain it to them. I can’t let myself get too far ahead. I don’t even know if she likes me back.
Besides, fraternisation is against the rules… I guess it probably won’t happen as a result. Either way, as soon as I got off shift I changed out of my clothes, put some formals on and raced over to the café.
We talked about a whole host of things, on this occasion why she wears bandage wraps on both her arms. We talked for about an hour, me and her taking it in turns to listen before we were nearly parted ways. Keyword there was nearly.
Instead, Mira invited me over to her quarters for some cookies. “I didn’t have enough time between getting off shift and starting the process to make them ready for our trip.”
I nodded. “That’s alright, Mira. Let’s head back to yours then; what flavour did you make this time?”
Mira uttered a ‘you’ll see’, which made my heart jump in my chest from the sheer excitement. Maybe she had baked my favourite flavour?
As per usual, we returned to Mira’s quarters. When she opened her room up, I was delighted by the smell but knew Mira had an issue with touch. It was nearly midnight at this point; had I been awake that long? I could barely believe it.
Before we got any further into the baking though, Mira called me over. The sheer fact she leaned in made my heart skip a beat, but then she whispered like the wind. “You like me, don’t you?”
I nearly fucking imploded. Was I THAT obvious? “Uhhhhhh… yeah?”
Before I could even react, I felt the calloused touch hold me, and a gentle pair of lips meet mine.
