Princess Ruby took a deep breath. Her mom and her cousin Prince Azul stood nearby, waiting for her ability to reveal itself. Her future-her right to the Celestara throne- depended on what happen next. Royals all get their abilities tested earlier to decide the next heir. Slowly,Ruby walked up to the crystal ball- the one that will awake her gift. “Heaven’s sake, please let it be a rare or a powerful ability!” Ruby thought, bracing herself.
She placed her paw on the ball. She got the power of Crystals. She smiled. A rare enough ability to claim the throne from her mom. A rare smile appeared on her mom’s face. Her cousin clapped.
“Ruby Amaris March. Your ability qualifies you to become my successor. Your crowning ceremony will take place when you are 25 years old and ready to lead the kingdom with your ability.” The queen said calmly. Ruby smiled cheerfully
“Thanks mom!” Ruby exclaimed. She smiled widely while she rushed to her own room. She could not control her emotions even though she have been trained to.
She cannot believe it. She will be the next queen of Celestara. She gazed out at the sky to see the beautiful sunset while thinking about her future. Suddenly, the door creaked opened and Ruby immediately hid her emotions.
“Daisy, what is it?” Ruby queried softly. The maid bowed. Daisy have always been Ruby’s favorite maid. But even if they are friends, Daisy still need to call Ruby “Your Majesty” out of respect.
“Your majesty, the queen wishes to see you.” Daisy said, and put the tray of fruits she prepared on the princess’s table.
“Straight out from the royal gardens. The fruits are extra sweet this season.” Daisy exclaimed, while pouring a goblet of tea for Ruby.
Ruby frowned internally, maintaining her cold and calm posture outside. What would the queen want?
“Can I go later?” Ruby asked. “The queen wishes you can arrive as soon as possible.” Daisy replied. Ruby then got up and put her tiara on her head. It is gold, adorned with a sapphire and many little crystals. It looked beautiful, but it is actually very heavy. Ruby then strolled to the throne room. As a princess, you must be calm and elegant at all times- or you risk being denied the throne or even worse, banished out from the royal family. She finally reached the throne room and saw her mom on the throne.
“Mom, you called me?” Ruby asked politely. The queen nodded and rose from her throne.
“You know the upcoming camp to awaken our citizen’s abilities? I need you to help set up the place. Called Camp Magic, I’ll handle the letters. Be quick- the camp is starting this week.” The queen said in her usual calm tone. Ruby nodded and quietly packed the camp supplies ready. It was going to be big, so she needed an enchanted infinite space ring. She took the ring and began storing everything needed to set the place up.
“Daisy, help me carry these things to the campsite.” Ruby said casually. “Yes, your Majesty!” Daisy exclaimed as she started lifting more things to store into the ring alongside Ruby.
Finally, after storing all the things into the ring, Ruby and Daisy are both sweating and gasping for air. Ruby sat down to rest before getting up and started going to the campsite to set the camp up. It is far and rocky to there from the palace, but she didn’t want to let Daisy and the other maids handle it alone. Daisy flicked her tail and blinked. She always had those pretty eyes. Her pupils were a light purple star and her eyes look like white and purple crystals. Ruby wondered how Daisy had her eyes, as even the royals, descendants of the goddess of wisdom, didn’t have the eyes like that. Daisy then took the ring.
“Your majesty, I think it is time we set the thing at the camp up.” Daisy said cheerfully, standing up. Ruby nodded and got the ring. “Shrink!” In a flick of a paw, they disappeared from the palace.
“Keep up! We have more sign post to put, Ruby!” Daisy called to Ruby. Ruby smiled as she rushed to help Daisy.
“Daisy, have all the letters send to the respective households?” Ruby said politely while drinking tea she had brought with her. Daisy nodded while hanging a wooden sign onto a tree branch nearby.
She know when she got the crown from the queen in the future, she must promote Daisy, Ruby thought, Daisy is too kind to be stuck quietly serving tea. She can be anything. Anything possible.
“Come on Ruby!” Daisy called. “Coming!” Ruby replied, her flawless white fur gleaming under the sun, her shiny silver oval near her eyes glinted brightly. It is the traditional demigod mark. Suddenly, a playful idea crossed her mind.
“Daisy, there is no one here, maybe we can see how good you look with my tiara? Just do not drop it— It cost more than anything you own.” Ruby said with a teasing smile. Daisy’s eyes lit up and immediately nodded and Ruby gently put the tiara on Daisy’s head. She spun around joyfully. It looked surprisingly good on her. Ruby carefully took the tiara off Daisy’s head and put it back on her own.
“Also, there is this school for healers I need to visit tomorrow. And please help me chose some new maids. My previous healers retired and I need replacements now.” Ruby said, her tone shifting more serious now. Daisy nodded before teleporting them back to the palace.
Upon reaching the palace, Daisy went to Ruby’s room and grabbed a grape, and started munching. Through full cheeks, she said, though nearly incomprehensible through the chewing noises.
“Choose those that can heal wounds well and those diligent ones. Don’t pick any arrogant brats and cats that are spoiled.” Daisy said, Ruby thought about it, before smiling at Daisy, who is now reaching for a starfruit in the fruit platter in the room.
“Thanks! I really picked the correct maids to work for me. We all have such a good time together! And before I go to that healer school to chose healers, let’s make you a flower crown with flowers from that part of the garden!” Ruby exclaimed, as she signaled to Daisy and they immediately went to the garden. It is peaceful. They always go to that garden when they are peaceful, to stare at flowers and recognize butterfly species, it’s almost like it’s their own spot in the garden.
“Your majesty, it’s time to go to that healer school.” A servant dressed in black arrived and bowed. She hid her feelings immediately again and walked elegantly to the gold carriage to take me there.
The carriage had the ability to fly. She settled at the back seat of the carriage and adjusting herself until she was comfortable. Moments later, the carriage lifted into the sky. Lands and trees blurred past at them below. Ruby stared out at the scenery — It was breathtaking.
Before she knew it, they had arrived. The carriage descended, the servant bowed again and stepped out, as she followed out of the carriage and stepped on the stone path to the healer school. She soon saw the healer school with its pristine white and gold walls shimmering under the sunlight.
