The first time he experienced this “animal warning” ability was shortly after their last investigation of an abandoned research institute. That day, as Lin Xiaoqiang was walking home, a sudden overwhelming feeling of unease flooded his heart. It was a strange sensation—not his own emotion—but it strongly affected him.
Just as he was puzzled, he heard sharp, fearful chirps from a small bird perched on a nearby big tree. Almost at the same time, an out-of-control bicycle rushed around the corner, heading straight toward a little girl playing under the tree!
Lin Xiaoqiang instinctively dashed forward and grabbed the girl away from danger. The runaway bicycle skidded past her feet and crashed to the ground.
Looking back, Lin Xiaoqiang realized that the intense unease he felt, along with the bird’s fearful cries, were very likely the animals’ “danger warning.”
From then on, Lin Xiaoqiang began paying more attention to these strange emotional waves he sensed and the abnormal reactions of the animals around him. He discovered that whenever animals nearby faced imminent danger, he could feel that strong sense of unease beforehand.
Once, he sensed a powerful fear coming from a stray dog at a street corner nearby. Following the feeling, he found the stray trapped under a narrow sewer grate, in a very dangerous situation. He rescued the poor dog just in time.
Another time, he felt extreme anxiety from a group of cats. He rushed over and discovered a small fire in the kitchen of a nearby restaurant. He alerted the staff in time, preventing a bigger disaster.
Lin Xiaoqiang’s new ability was like an “animal kingdom early warning system,” enabling him to sense animals’ dangers in advance and act before the peril truly arrived.
“I think… I can sense animals’ dangers ahead of time now,” Lin Xiaoqiang told Wang Meili and Azhai about his new discovery.
“Really? That’s so cool! You basically turned into an ‘animal radar’!” Azhai said excitedly.

“Last night, I dreamed my fish was complaining to me about its small fish tank. It wanted a new home with a sea view wallpaper!” a middle-aged man, looking exhausted, told the Supernatural Research Club.
“My hamster actually discussed its ‘retirement plan’ with me in my dream. It said it wanted to move to a mansion full of sunflower seeds!” a young girl said, equally confused.
“Animal language in dreams!” Was this a new supernatural phenomenon, or yet another strange manifestation of their “ability upgrade”?
