The concert was a tremendous success. Everyone loved ECLIPSE7's performance, and it was all over every STARZ's lips. But within ECLIPSE7, something had shifted—especially between Jae Hyun and Seo Joon.
Seo Joon seemed genuinely happy with Lisa, his girlfriend. When he wasn't filming, he was with her—so much so that he barely had time for Jae Hyun anymore. He hadn't even kept his promise to make it up to him.
The older boy felt hurt by Seo Joon's absence but kept putting on a fake smile. He'd resigned himself to the reality that he and Seo Joon would never be together. He was tired of crying over someone who didn't seem to notice. So instead, he threw himself into work and schedules, and began spending more time with the other members—especially Jace.
It had been roughly three weeks since he and Seo Joon had had a proper conversation after their almost-kiss. Now, it was just awkward greetings—plain "heys" and "hi's." That's why it was such a shock when Seo Joon came to his room early that Saturday morning. Seo Joon was usually a late riser, but today, he seemed strangely energized.
"Jae Hyun-shi, irona (wake up)," he said, nudging Jae Hyun gently.
Jae Hyun grumbled, wiping drool from the corner of his mouth, still unaware of who was trying to wake him.
"Come on, Jae Hyun. Wake up," Seo Joon said again, more firmly.
Jae Hyun opened his eyes and sprang upright when he saw who it was.
"Seo Joon? What are you doing here?" he muttered, grabbing his watch off the dresser beside his bed.
"It's four-thirty in the morning..." he groaned.
"I'm sorry for waking you up so early, but..." Seo Joon paused and took a deep breath. "I want you to meet Lisa."
Jae Hyun felt like someone had poured cold water all over him. Just when he was finally getting used to the idea of Seo Joon having a girlfriend, this had to happen.
No.
He didn't want to meet her. He wouldn't be able to handle it.
"Seo... um, I can't meet your girlfriend. I have a photoshoot today."
"I already called and told them you weren't coming."
Jae Hyun frowned. "You what?"
Seo Joon flinched slightly under Jae Hyun's sharp glare.
"I'm sorry. I just didn't want you to have an excuse not to meet Lisa. You've been avoiding me lately."
"Me? Avoiding you?" Jae Hyun scoffed. "Well, you'd probably see it that way since you've been busy having the time of your life with your Beautiful hyungs and Lisa."
Seo Joon started laughing, his mouth stretching into a perfect rectangle.
"Is my Jae Hyunnie jealous?"
Jae Hyun blushed furiously. "Stop it..." he muttered.
Seo Joon stopped laughing and wrapped his arms around him tightly.
"I'm sorry I haven't been giving you attention. I promise I'll make it up to you. But I really need you there today."
Jae Hyun sighed. He could never really say no to Seo Joon—not when he looked at him like that.
"Okay, fine. Where should I meet you two?"
"Meet us at that coffee shop near the filling station."
Jae Hyun nodded. "What time?"
"Two o'clock."
"All right. I'll be there," he said with a heavy sigh.
Seo Joon kissed his cheek, causing Jae Hyun to shriek.
"Yah, Seo Joon! What was that for?!"
Seo Joon blushed. "I missed you, Jae Hyun... I'm so glad we're talking again."
"Yeah... me too," Jae Hyun whispered, watching as Seo Joon left the room.
Now he was anxious. How was he going to hide his jealousy from Seo Joon today? Could he bear seeing Seo Joon all lovey-dovey with his girlfriend?
He took a deep breath. He could do this. He had to keep his head high and get through the day, no matter how much it hurt. Most of all, he didn't want to disappoint Seo Joon. If he and Lisa didn't get along, Seo Joon would be distressed. He was going to try—really try—to be open-minded.
The day went by quickly. It was a rare free day for the group. Kelly and Namin decided to go watch a movie and stop by the shopping mall, while Ki Tae accompanied Do Hyun to the market to shop for dinner ingredients. And honestly... those two had been acting suspicious for a while now—especially with Ki Tae following Do Hyun everywhere.
Jace stayed home, glued to the TV, playing Mortal Kombat. Such a baby.
The others had all gone out, leaving only Jace and Jae Hyun in the dorm. Jae Hyun was getting ready to leave for what promised to be a painfully awkward lunch with Seo Joon and his girlfriend.
Jace didn't even turn when he entered.
"Hey, Jace, I'm going to meet Seo Joon and his girlfriend..."
Jace paused his game and turned to look at him. "Oh, poor Jae Hyun."
"What?"
"Why are you doing this to yourself?"
Jae Hyun stared at the maknae. What is he even saying?
"What are you talking about?"
Jace nodded, looking way too serious. "It's going to be hard, right? Seeing him with his girlfriend."
Jae Hyun frowned. "Jace, what is your problem? Just focus on your game and leave me alone."
Jace smiled slyly. "I bet you'll come back in about an hour—crying. But I can help you, hyung. I can help both of you."
Jae Hyun stared. What is wrong with him today?
He checked his watch. It was already twenty minutes past two.
"Yah, Jace, I'm late because of you!"
He quickly smoothed his hair with the back of his hand.
"Bye, hyung!" Jace called as Jae Hyun dashed out the door.
Then he smirked to himself.
It was time to execute his plan.
