Year 5771 Season: Heat Wave
On a sunny but cool day, sun rays passed through crude looking windows, which were made of wood, shining through the household of the Gallegos. A mother of one was 11 months in pregnancy, her second child's birth was overdue.
Caicar Gallegos, the head of the household, impatiently walked back and forth within the kitchen. His wife had told him she felt the time for delivery drew near.
Caicar had learned long ago to never doubt a mother’s intuition, especially when it came to her offspring. He was not alone in this unrest, he had called family members to help tonight, as well as the local doctor. Finally, as the sun went into hiding, as if on cue...all hell broke loose again!!
The mother's water broke, immediately, the whole room heard a faint, vibrational hum. Something was off, everyone could tell. Time seemed to slow down to a stop then, in a brutal manner sped up!
“AHHHHHUGHH, CAICAR!!! ARGHHH” The pregnant woman screamed in pain.
Caicar was dumbfounded, still quick on his feet he dashed toward his wife, catching her firm hand. She still had fallen quite hard on the floor. All he could do was mutter his wife's name.
“Liana…”
Although suffering was expected during birth, what he failed to comprehend was that this pain exceeded the norm. This torment was not the cause of the natural, but of the power which their baby foolishly let out!
The local doctor was actually well known, even outside this little village.
There was a total of three villages within the island area, natives just called it the “Tolkan Islands,” since “Tolkana” was the main city located near it.
This doctor not only studied medicine, but was also a renowned Intermediate Elementalist.
Calm and collective, he walked towards Liana.
“Move” was all he said while looking at Caicar.
Caicar noticed the arrogance in his voice, but at this time he was desperate. He obeyed reluctantly.
“Hold her down, ill begin…”
He started to channel mana towards his hands, making it emanate a white mist, while helping Liana give birth. This white mist acted as a repellent of fluids, like a glove.
He then noticed a mysterious force, more like a faint vibration, as if listening to a bumblebee fly. “How odd, this is a first” he said to himself. Currently he was not at a level where he could sense others forming and channeling mana. Letting his guard down he then noticed too late, the danger he was in.
Liana feeling her very own mana deteriorate, knew, something was off.
A sharp Icicle with a pointy tip shot out from… yes people, shot out from Liana’s vagina.
“What? something’s coming out but, it's not a baby!”
“SHHWIIIPPP”
He had no time to react, an ice forged tip pierced him right at the left eyeball.
“ARGHHH, SHHAAATTTT” He howled in pain.
Blood gushed from his face like a fountain, he forced the thin icicle out, now screaming louder. The frightful scene was witnessed by everyone there, the icicle clearly still held the now detached eye ball. Everyone watched in horror, what a disaster!
The family members were at this point frantic, running around, moving chairs to give the doctor space. It was complete chaos.
The doctor was infuriated, he looked at his hands, and there, somehow he had managed to grab hold of the frail newborn.
He, being a doctor set him apart from commoners. Although not a noble, he was still highly looked upon. This newborn he now carried, not only destroyed his left eye, but will also, no doubt sully his hard earned reputation.
Also, being quite good in elemental battle, he had acquired a taste for blood lust. This he did not hide, he was after all releasing, unconsciously, a murderous aura.
The searing pain, the noise, the panic, his blood, his eye visibly pierced, the unforgettable occurrence… none of this mattered to the doctor, he only thought of one thing, and that was to seek revenge!
His misty hands shone even more vaporous light, lifting his mist infused hand he aimed right at the baby.
CLANK!!
Everyone, stared dumbfounded at the development of this birth.
Liana had long ago fainted, she muttered words no one heard, except the nearby doctor with the baby in hands.
Caicar had seen enough, he blocked the doctors attack. While a youthful shadow snatched the baby from his hands..
The young figure wore a hood, successfully obscuring his face, he gave the baby to Viviana, a trusted family member and ordered her to leave.
“Good Job” Caicar told the mysterious hooded figure.
Caicar now staring at the doctor. “Doctor Jelod...and here I thought, you were the finest doctor money can buy in the Tolkan Islands.”
A great volume of mist started to fumigate the house, Jelod simply stared with but one eye at Caicar. “This Caicar is no ordinary warrior, I didn't sense him snatch the child right from my hands...”
It seemed Jelod failed to notice it was a two man combo that succeeded him.
“He shall suffer” were his parting words to Caicar, as the mist fully engulfed him.
And just like that, he skillfully blended into the mist and vanished. Only a trickle of blood could be seen at an opened window.
Jelod cursed this newborn as he fled, he truly, single handedly, tarnished his reputation. Fighting with Caicar was risky business. He was at a disadvantage in close quarters, so him fleeing was a wise decision on his part.
Caicar was an Elemental Warrior, which differed from an Elementalist. A warrior’s control of mana was inferior, but in return, their body was physically more powerful and durable than a pure mana user.
In addition, warriors usually had more skill in the use of weaponry since their training regime included sword play. It was generally known, when a warrior fought one on one with an Elementalist at the same level, warriors had the advantage in close distances.
The doctor was able to easily escape due to his deep knowledge in the elemental variant of water, which in this case was “Mist.” A popular choice for assassins, due to the aid in escape it provides.

-Talk Of The Town-
The news quickly spread, a baby not only heavily injured Jelod, but made him run away!
Yes, it was exaggerated but everyone speculated, it must have some truth to it. In addition, a bothersome gossip started to increase in popularity, according to the now distorted story, the mother was actually the attacker!
The Tolkan Islands were quite small in population, it was a little community where everyone knew each other. Most professions within this area was that of a fisherman. The people often had boring lives, only working for the next meal. So when news like this spread, people rejoiced in talking about it.
Liana Gallegos loved to walk in the trade district, namely in the “Fish Market.”
The quality of fresh aquatic life here was great, she would often bargain and haggle with the fishermen for the best quality and price.
But ever since the birth of her child, people often talked badly of her. As she strode through the market she would overhear the conversations of the town folks.
“Hey, Jerry be careful with that fish, it might give birth to a monster haha.”
“Ha ha, you ass hole. I'm not as unlucky as the Gallegos…oh.. err...sorry Liana, I didn't mean what I just said.”
She simply kept waking.
To her, the child she gave birth to was her joy. She still loved him very much, even if the Islands called him a monster, even if it brought infamy to the household, a mother's love was truly unparalleled. She had mixed emotions when it came to Nex, in one side she had motherly love, on the other, she disliked him. Women.
Jelod was just as unfortunate, if not worse. No one wanted to hire him after the incident. He didn't have a grand income like before anymore.
One day he just disappeared, no one knew what had happened to him.
After a few weeks, the gossip died down, even though hardly anyone spoke of it, it still left a deep impression of the Gallegos, it was something everyone had in the back of their minds.

-Peter's New Name-
“So...honey. You keep delaying the naming of your son.” Liana now inside her home asked Caicar.
“...” He seemed uninterested in the conversation.
“If you won’t I will.” Liana pushed on.
Then from the shadows, a youthful voice interrupted. Now taking off his hood. “Father, what about ‘Contor’? I like the sound of it.”
This was Caicars first son, Jagar. He was a strong fellow, gifted with above average strength. He was also an exceptional student. Constantly training and on his way to the elemental warrior’s path. Caicar dotted his first born excessively, it was his golden boy so to speak.

“No...fine ill get this over with, his name will be…” Caicar’s eyes darted from place to place, seeing a kitchen knife specially made for gutting fish, his eyes brightened.

Caicar was a poor reader, so although the knife’s name was “Hex” he read it as nex, and therefore simply said,

“HA! his name shall be Nex Gallegos!!” feeling quite proud of naming his son.

His wife, Liana couldn't help but sigh at her husband's stupidity. She knew him very well after all, she followed his eyes when he saw the knife, she knew he was a poor reader as well.

Even so, the days, weeks and months passed.
Liana, when taking care of Nex noticed immediately, he was an odd child. She had much experience with raising Jagar, therefore knew how a baby, in general, should act.
Nex rarely cried. Never disturbed her at night, and always looked at her when she spoke...in a meaningful way. As if studying her, Nex often observed her. Nex also never laughed, even when someone tried to play with him.
Well actually, she did witness Nex laugh once, it was when he farted and burped at the same time.
At first, his peculiarity didn't bother her. But as time went on, she couldn't help notice his every reaction. When giving him food, he would often seem bored, or uninterested, as if it was his duty to eat and nothing else.
Also, at times, Nex seemed to want to communicate with her, failing to do so, he would then sulk for the rest of the day.
Normal babies delight in their first taste to food, Nex however did not.. Although this was something small, the problem was everything he did, it was not a reaction a baby should have.
For example, when Liana tried to breastfeed Nex, he often, in disgust, turned his head away. This went against a newborns nature.
As time went by she grew to fear him, something was wrong. The child only became colder and indifferent to his relatives.
She could only recall his birth, the chaos Nex has brought.
“Nex Gallegos…I regret having you as my child.” Was something she felt deep in her heart, though, she suppressed those thoughts.
She found mental refuge in thinking of her strong, powerful and mighty son, Jagar. He was the pride of the Gallegos, someone who will no doubt be someone of great importance in the future.
She felt a deep respect towards her son Jagar, him rescuing Nex during the births incident left a deep impression on her.
