“Babe, I still don’t like you going off to Jody’s alone.” Dean looks up at you as you enter the library.
“Dean, I’ll be fine,” you say, dropping your bag at his feet. “Besides, I need a girl’s night. I’ve been spending too much time here with you and Sam. It’s testosterone overload.”
“Call me as soon as you get there.” He stands scooping up your bag.
“I will,” you say over your shoulder as you lead the way to the garage.
“Don’t text and drive.”
“I won’t.”
“Make sure you check the tires when you stop for gas. Which will be often since the Jeep gets terrible gas mileage,” he says, stepping in line with you.
“Pot,” you sass. “Indy is worth the extra gas.”
“Baby is too, but she’s all essentials. Indy’s full of useless crap, not to mention those ridiculous tires. Your mileage would be so much better if you got rid of all that.”
“Excuse me? Indy is not full of useless crap.”
“When will you ever need a winch?”
“You never know… And those tires never get stuck. I can’t believe you’d talk about Indy like that, he’s a good Jeep.” You bump his hip with yours as you enter the garage.
“Well, just be careful and no talking to strangers.” He stops next to your Jeep.
You stop too, giving him a hard look. “Seriously? You do realize I can take care of myself, right?”
He laughs.
“Just making sure you’re paying attention. Gotta make sure my girl stays safe.” He wraps his arms around you, pulling you close. “I only have one of you.” His lips capture yours and you can’t help sighing into this kiss. This man was made to kiss, among other things.
You finally break away, “Ok, I gotta go.”
“Y/N,” he hesitates.
You look up into his peridot eyes and it seems like he’s holding something back.
“Tell Jody I said hi.”
“I will. Bye, Dean.”
“Bye, Y/N.”

Dean’s POV
Y/N called to let me know she reached Jody’s alright. A few hours later I’m finishing up some research when the War Room goes berserk. A red light illuminates the library as the bunker goes into lockdown, and Sam rushes in.
“Dean?”
“I don’t know, it just started going bonkers.”
“What the hell?” Sam continues past me.
I follow him to the table and it’s lit up all over the northern half of the world.
“What’s going on?”
We rush to the TV and turn it on.
“A massive cold front has hit the entire top half of the country. It is advised that you stay indoors and keep warm. The cold is extremely dangerous and could freeze on contact. This is the second catastrophic weather event we’ve seen in the last 36 hours: As we reported earlier, tornados ripped through California causing severe damage with a death toll that is still unknown. And earlier this week a massive crack formed in the arctic ice shelf-.”
Sam flips off the TV. “Y/N, Jody, the girls.”
I whip out my phone, dialing Y/N while Sam calls Jody.
“Do-do-dee. All circuits are busy. Please try your call again later. Do-do-.”
I hang up just as Sam does, shaking his head at me. I grab my jacket and keys and head to the garage.
“Dean, you heard the reporter. They’re saying it’s so cold it can kill on contact.”
“I’m not an idiot Sam. But we have to get them and bring them back here. This place is a fortress. We can all stay here and ride out whatever this is together.”
“What about Cas?”
“What about him? He hasn’t answered any of our prayers. We’re on our own.”
“Well, then let’s do this right. We need supplies and proper clothing and-.”
“Alright, you handle that. I’m gonna see if we’ve got snow chains.”
A couple of hours later we pack up Baby and hit the road. We don’t pass a soul as we drive, the way is treacherous and I have to drive much slower than I’d like. We’re lucky that we’re not further north or else we probably wouldn’t be able to make the drive at all. Four hours later we’re only passing through Columbus.
“Godammit this is taking forever.”
“Maybe we shouldn’t have been so quick to run out to rescue. Jody and Y/N can take care of themselves.”
I glare at my younger brother for a good long while. Just as I look back a shadow appears on the road. I slam on the brakes and the Impala starts to fishtail.
“Hold on!” I yell as Sam braces himself.
I try to correct, but we end up in the ditch.
“Son of a bitch!” I slam the steering wheel.
Pulling on our gloves and hats we climb out to assess the damage. Luckily Baby’s ok, just stuck. A howl sounds in the distance and we quickly hop back inside. We’ll have to wait until morning to get her out of the ditch. We cover ourselves in blankets and for the next two hours, we cycle through periods of reminiscing, fighting, and silence.
Finally, the rumble of an engine breaks the silence, I look up and there’s Y/N’s Jeep.

“You fellas need a lift?” you call out, turning down the radio as Ann Wilson sings “Ooooh Barracuda!”
“Y/N! Jody!” Sam and Dean jump from the Impala.
“What’re you guys doing out here?” you ask.
“We were coming to rescue you,” Dean says.
“Rescue us?” Jody dips her head, leaning over Y/N and peeking through the driver’s window. “Who said we needed rescuing?” She laughs. “Sure looks like you do though.”
“Uh, yeah, Baby isn’t made for the snow.” Dean rubs the back of his neck.
You smirk at him and his eyes go wide when he realizes what he just said.
“Yeah, too bad you don’t have a Jeep with nice big tires.” You can’t help the smug look on your face. “Good thing I’ve got this winch here.” You let the comment hang in the air before continuing. “But I think Indy’s gonna need an apology from you before we save you.”
“Seriously?”
“Seriously.” You can barely contain your laughter.
Dean looks at Sam who gives him a just-tell-her-what-she-wants-to-hear look.
“Fine,” Dean grumbles. “I’m sorry I said Indy was full of useless crap and that his tires were ridiculous.”
“See? That wasn’t so hard.”
You back up and Dean hooks the winch up to Baby, giving her one last look before standing back while you pull her from the ditch.
“Thanks, Y/N.” Dean leans through the window quickly pecking you on the lips.
“I’ll lead the way, but I’ll make sure to go slow so you don’t end up in any more ditches.”
“Ha, ha.”
“Oh, and guys?”
Sam and Dean stop at their doors, looking over to you.
“Thanks so much for the rescue.”
Both men roll their eyes as they climb into the Impala. The girls giggle as you turn the music back up and pull out.

Dean’s POV
Four hours later my ass is asleep and I’m humming “Barracuda” as we pull into the garage. Sam is leading Jody, Claire, and Alex into the bunker when Y/N catches my arm.
“Thanks,” she says, as I turn to her.
“For what?”
“For coming to get me. I really do appreciate that you guys were willing to trek out and rescue us.”
“Any time, babe.” I peck her lips. “But really, thank you. Sam and I would’ve been stranded if it wasn’t for you.”
“Any time, babe.” She smiles and I can’t hold it in anymore.
“I love you.”
She freezes and for a moment I panic. Then her y/c eyes meet mine.
“I love you too, Dean.”
“I should’ve said it yesterday.” I wrap my arms around her waist, pulling her into me as I kiss her slow and deeply, showing her exactly how much I love her.
She breaks away, “Well, you said it today,” she says, a little breathless.
I smirk, “I’ll say it tomorrow.” Kiss. “And the day after tomorrow.” Kiss.
