Taylor was fumbling with putting his keys into his front door when it suddenly opened. Trevon was standing there with a smile.
“Let you out of the hospital already?” He asked.
“Yeah, didn’t know what to do.” Taylor said before the two clasped hands and pulled each other close, smacking each other on the back hard.
Trevon laughed and let Taylor in. Taylor’s Mom was sitting on the couch while Fats Domino was playing on the record player.
Taylor looked confused and walked over quickly.
“This isn’t ours.” Taylor said.
Trevon smiled and walked over slowly, putting his hand over Taylor’s.
“Brought it from home. My Grandad was a massive record collector.” Trevon replied.
“It’s very lovely.” Taylor’s Mom suddenly said from the couch. Taylor quickly turned and smiled, quickly making his way over.
“Hey Mom. How has Trevon been?” Taylor asked, holding both of her hands softly.
“He’s been lovely sweetie…although his cooking isn’t as good as yours though.” She said.
Taylor laughed as Trevon faked looking upset.
“Aww, but you said it was good.” Trevon said.
She turned her head to look towards his direction, but not directly at him.33Please respect copyright.PENANAbRQt76Gw6J
“It was good…but my young Taylor is the greatest cook I have ever met.” She said.
Taylor raised his eyebrows quickly at Trevon before all of them laughed, filling the room with warm love.
“What do you want for dinner Mom?” Taylor asked.
“Make whatever you want honey.” His Mom said with a warm and loving smile.
Taylor smiled back as Trevon stood over to the side, staring with a warm and loving smile.
“I’m gonna head home now. Happy you’re doing okay Taylor.” Trevon said as he collected the record and put it back in the sleeve.
“No, please stay for dinner.” Taylor said.
“Don’t worry about it. I gotta get home anyways. Parents haven’t seen me the past few days.” Trevon laughed and hugged Taylor.
They kept hugging and rubbing each other’s backs softly, feeling warm and happy as they kept embracing.
“See you at school.” Trevon said.
“Yeah…see you there.” Taylor responded.
Trevon let go and left the apartment as Taylor kept smiling.
“He’s such a sweet boy.” Taylor’s Mom said.
“Yeah, he really is.” Taylor said, still smiling wide.

The next day at school, Taylor made it to the bus stop early and stood around, swaying back and forth waiting alone. He wasn’t paying attention until he heard very fast footsteps.
Taylor turned around just as he was nearly tackled to the ground, but he was able to plant his feet and stay standing as he looked down at Stephen, who was holding a few messy flowers.
“Taylor!” Stephen said loudly as he squeezed him hard.
“Somebody missed me huh?” Taylor said with a smile as he rubbed Stephen’s back.
Taylor could hear Stephen was trying not to cry. As Stephen kept hugging, Taylor looked to the side to see Trevon walking up to the bus stop.
“Am I interrupting something?” Trevon asked.
“No, just Stephen missing me.” Taylor said.
Stephen finally released the hug and held the flowers out for him. Taylor smiled and took them.
“Thank you very much.” Taylor said.
“I didn’t know you got out of the hospital, I was going to collect more and bring them to you.” Stephen said.
Taylor softly and kindly laughed.
“Thank you Stephen, but I’m fine now. I guess my legs are magic or something.” Taylor said.
Trevon was standing and looking at Stephen when he got bumped into from behind.
“Oops, didn’t see you there.” Maurice said as he smirked.
“You should really get your eyesight checked with how often you bump into people.” Trevon quickly said back.
Maurice smirked as a few more teenagers walked over and stood behind him, all looking at Trevon. Trevon took his bag off and put it down before getting in a fighting stance. Taylor walked over and stood next to him.
“Look, we don’t need to fight. We just gotta learn to love and respect…” Taylor started, but then something strange happened.
Maurice began to punch, but it was like he was moving in slow motion.
Taylor was confused and turned to see Trevon, who was very slowly starting to lean back to avoid the punch, but he could tell it wouldn’t matter.
Taylor then turned to look at Stephen. His hand was open and the flowers were falling towards the ground, but they were falling very slowly, almost floating down.
Taylor turned back to Maurice and stuck his hand out until it touched his fist.
As soon as their hands made contact, everything rushed back to full speed as a small shockwave shot from Taylor in every direction, sending every stumbling back a bit.
Maurice’s fist collided with Taylor’s, but due to the speed and force of Taylor’s arm, Maurice’s fist audibly broke as he quickly clutched it and screamed loudly.
“OW! FUCK! WHAT THE FUCK TAYLOR!?” Maurice shouted loudly.
Trevon looked confused and shocked while Stephen was frozen in place, his mouth hanging open.
“How did I just…” Taylor started, but Maurice threw another punch with his good arm.
Things weren’t as slow as before, but still slow, allowing Taylor to dodge the punch with ease. Maurice quickly went for a back hand, but Taylor quickly put his arm up to block it. Maurice stumbled back when he suddenly pulled out a switchblade from his pants pocket. He held it to his side, but Taylor suddenly lifted his leg up and booted Maurice in the chest.
Maurice went flying off the ground and backwards very quickly before crashing in a few bushes over ten feet away.
Everyone was completely frozen in shock as Taylor lowered his leg.
“Maurice? Are you okay?” One of the other teenagers asked as they slowly walked over.
Taylor’s eyes were wide as he began to softly shake. He gripped his bag off the ground before looking at Trevon. The two locked eyes before Taylor suddenly started to run.
It was quicker than a flash of a camera. One second Trevon was staring in the eyes of his best friend. The next, the only thing left was a forceful shockwave, a large gust of wind, and two small craters in the sidewalk where his feet were just a second before.

Taylor was running faster than he had ever ran before. His legs were nearly impossible to see as they raced across the hard sidewalks, leaving behind cracks and craters with every step he took. Taylor kept running through the empty sidewalks and streets, running while everything around him was shapeless and formless blobs. Taylor tried to squint and focus, but everything just became blurrier as he did. He tried to slow down, but he could feel his legs on the verge of snapping. Taylor took a deep breath and started to run just a bit slower, hoping to slow down gradually.
Just as things started to become a bit clearer, Taylor realized he was coming in hot on his school building. Taylor panicked and tried to slow down faster, causing a massive amount of pressure and force pushing down on his feet and ankles. He could not only feel but hear the bones in his feet all shatter simultaneously, followed by his ankles immediately after.
Taylor fell forward and rolled violently on the sidewalk leading into his school.
Taylor was the first student there, the only cars in the parking lot belonging to the staff, so Taylor quickly crawled over towards the front doors and reached up, pulling the handle to open before crawling his way over to a bench that sat in the main entrance. Taylor pulled himself up and sat with his feet clearly broken inside of his now torn and tattered sneakers. The bottoms were nearly worn out all the way, leaving barely an inch between Taylor’s feet and the ground.
The sides and top were subtly burned while the shoelaces were crisp and unmoving. Taylor reached down to pull them, but they snapped off like a french fry. Taylor sighed and kept sitting on the bench, hoping that concentrating would make them heal or something.
Taylor looked up just to see the first students being dropped off by their parents at the front. Taylor gritted his teeth hard and kept focusing and concentrating.
Taylor could suddenly feel and even hear all of the bones inside his feet suddenly and forcefully snapping back into place. Once his feet were healed, he looked down and could see his ankles snapping back in place through his socks. Lots of movement before it suddenly stopped.
Taylor stood up slowly and was able to stand without issue. Taylor took a step and felt good as new.
The first students walked in and looked at Taylor confused.
“What are you doing?” One of them asked.
“I…um…” Taylor panicked before suddenly pushing off the ground.
The tile floor beneath him cracked as he flung himself high into the air, nearly touching the high ceilings before he quickly brought his legs in, rolling backwards before landing on his feet with a very impressive and high back flip. His feet landed hard, landing in the same spot but causing the floor to nearly shatter and cave in.
The students were impressed and cheered Taylor on as he laughed before bowing.
The students walked away to go to their lockers as Taylor stood in the same spot, looking down at the craters surrounding his feet.
“I really hope they don’t try to make me pay for this.” He said to himself.
Taylor kept standing at the front until he saw his bus pull up. He saw Trevon and Stephen quickly get off before running towards the front doors.
Maurice’s friends ran off to chase after them while Maurice walked off with a severe limp while holding his arm close to his body.
Trevon got inside first and shut the door, not bothering to hold it open for Stephen.
“What the fuck is going on?” Taylor asked.
“After you…ran off, I’m not sure what happened. Anyways, they started to fight us…well me cause Stephen didn’t do shit.” Trevon responded.
Stephen got inside, covered head to toe in bruises as he tried to hold the door shut, but the group of eight easily opened it and sent Stephen falling back onto the floor.
“Hey!” Taylor said loudly as he walked forward.
One of the teenagers immediately turned their attention to Taylor, getting ready to throw a punch.
Things seemed to be moving in a slower motion than before as Taylor looked around.
He walked over to the other teenagers and softly touched each one of them in the chest as quickly as he could. Taylor then stood over next to Stephen as time suddenly rushed back to normal speed.
The teen who tried to punch Taylor fell forward hard while the others all flew back into the front doors.
A small shockwave and gust of wind went every direction as Taylor held his hand out for Stephen.
Stephen looked up through a serious black eye and began to cry while smiling. He took Taylor’s hand and got pulled up as all of the teens were groaning in pain and clutching their chests tightly.
“We should hurry up and go.” Taylor said.
Trevon had already gathered their bags and began to walk away quickly. Taylor and Stephen quickly jogged to catch up with him and gather their own bags.
“What the fuck was that?” Trevon asked.33Please respect copyright.PENANAzVwl5ci3yx
“I don’t know, but let’s just ignore that for now.” Taylor very quickly replied as he grabbed his bag and speed walked to his locker, frantically trying to throw his stuff inside while pulling out the textbooks he would need throughout the day. Trevon and Stephen stayed by him.
Trevon’s face was fear and panic while Stephen was still nervous and shy as he rubbed his bruised face.
“Taylor, we need to talk about whatever that was.” Trevon said.33Please respect copyright.PENANAEVYhiMM0Wd
Taylor quickly shut his locker and turned to walk, but Stephen was in his way.
“Stephen, go to the nurse. You looked seriously hurt.” Taylor said.
“Taylor.” Trevon said.
“I don’t know where the nurse is.” Stephen said as he seemed to be holding back tears.
“I’ll show you, come on.” Taylor quickly said.
“Taylor what is going on with you?” Trevon asked as he tried to move in front of him.
Taylor quickly took Stephen and bumped shoulders with Trevon, who quickly grabbed his other arm.
“Taylor.” Trevon was sounding annoyed and frustrated as Taylor quickly turned.
“Look at Stephen. He needs to go to the nurse now.” Taylor said.
“He can fucking wait Taylor. This is more important.” Trevon said.
“How so?” Taylor asked.
“Because if I didn’t know better, I would say that you learned some magic shit and can suddenly freeze time or move super fast or whatever the hell.” Trevon said.
“Don’t be stupid.” Taylor said and turned, but immediately had an apologetic face.
“Oh so I’m stupid now?” Trevon asked, making Taylor turn again.
Stephen kept rubbing his face when Trevon suddenly pushed his hand away. Taylor only used one finger, but sent Trevon stumbling back. Trevon caught himself and didn’t lose his balance, but looked shocked. Taylor looked down at his hand, but decided to ignore it.
“Don’t touch him.” Taylor said.
Stephen slowly moved to the side so he was mostly hidden behind Taylor.
“If he keeps rubbing it, he'll get…actually you know what? I don’t fucking care about him.” Trevon cut himself off and waved his hands around.
“I know you care about people.” Taylor quickly said.
“I care about you, there’s a difference.” Trevon quickly said back.
Taylor could feel his hand starting to clench into a fist, but Trevon noticed immediately.
“Really? You’re gonna throw hands with me Taylor? Your only friend for the past sixteen years!” Trevon suddenly shouted as Taylor stepped forward.
Trevon clenched his fist as well as the two got face to face. Their eyes locked for a few seconds of tense silence.
“We aren’t friends…” Taylor started.
Trevon could feel everything inside drop to the ground as he tried his best to hide his emotion.
“We are…well were…more than that.” Taylor said before quickly turning back. He quickly began to walk towards the nurse’s office as Stephen was still standing there, looking at Trevon. He then quickly gathered his stuff and ran to catch up with Taylor.
Trevon stood alone in the hallway before rubbing his eyes, turning around and walking in the opposite direction to his first class of the day.
